Absolutely I'd prefer longer drives with better balanced sectionals over the opposite. I'd bet the small schools care even more. Some of those schools scrap and fight just to get 1-3 kids to Regionals in the Frankfort Sectional and then if you're in the Crawfordsville Sectional teams that are essentially the same caliber can send 6-10 kids to Regionals just because of the other teams that are in it. 
 
That makes a difference in program building!

It would be lovely to keep debating, but for now, I have to go help with MS wrestling practice. Maybe next year I will decide to truly work hard and go for it, but for now, the Cavs are stuck with my half-hearted efforts...

Congratulations to the newest member of the Indiana High School Hall of Fame, Steve Anslinger! Steve has been a decorated coach, official, and leader for the sport of wrestling in Indiana. 

Moving it to Jasper and keeping 3B out was another blow.

So centralizing the location would not help attendance then from what you are saying. Area is so big fans don’t know the other competitors 

Talked to their coaches Saturday and congratulated them all multiple times! What they were able to accomplish this season was truly incredible! 
 
I also want to say every interaction we had with their team they were class acts. Great kids, and a great coaching staff.

Wrestling everyone in our sectional would be very difficult since most teams are nearly 2 hours away.  That, along with parents wanting to see their kids against local teams as much as possible, much the same as basketball and football.  Logistics/conference obligations/IHSAA rules start to compete against each other very quickly.

We'll post all of them in detail, with scores, number of team forfeits, and number of kids remaining in the tournament as soon as we can cross-check everything fully. We were way behind, so I wanted to get a provisional board out; but it's not all verified yet. 

To answer your question - No no one gets down to Harrison and Crawford County!!
 
And Feeler was in my top 4!! He trained w/ me for a year, I knew who he was!
 
I'm pulling for Zane, he's been on the fringe for a couple of years. One thing that sets Corydon, Crawford County, Hell ,our whole SE part of our SS back is the sheer size and scheduling. 
 
Over in Evansville and up in Indy, those dudes are constantly getting tested. In our part of the state the top guys might only get 1-2 highly competitive matches a year. Jeff Classic in a few weeks will be a good gauge.

I was wrong on Joe Buttler 2 years ago and immediately messaged his dad and congratulated him on making me eat crow.

Last year first day we had 13 kids.
 
Finished the season with 20.
 
This year the whole first week we had 22 and some middle schoolers without any of our football guys. Should have them in the room today!
 
62 in our youth program that fires up tomorrow and another 30+ on our MS roster!

Crazy in my mind. but it is what it is...

Brownsburg parents/coaches/fans coming in 3,2,1...

Holy cow dude give it a rest. Arguing to take teams away from team state, in a division you aren’t in, is a wild hill to die on. The whole point of team state is to give smaller schools a chance to shine in a single class system.

The BCS model used for team state selection criteria is antiquated, it's time to catch up to modern times and send the IndianaMat staff to Grapevine Texas every Tuesday between Thanksgiving and Christmas and lock us into a room and we will release our IM rankings to determine team state weekly. 

In the other IHSAA sports such as Football and Volleyball there is also a success factor that moves teams up into the next class, I believe if they win state twice in a row they move up.  Providence High School's Volleyball team is an example of this and it may have also happened Columbus East Football.  

I understand what you are saying but I disagree with any talk of putting MD, Cathedral, or any other private school in their own class just because someone thinks they can't beat them because they are a private school. Wrestling is the fairest sport there is there are only two contestants and they both weigh the same amount. If you want to create an open class for the team title I would be okay with that but do not alienate the private schools just because the public schools don't want to wrestle them.

OMG! Just go wrestle! Quit whining if a kid goes to a public or private school. You guys should know by now it doesn't matter what school you go to it matters how much off season work you're doing. 4 momths in a HS room isn't going to make a state champ wrestler or team. Look at the top tier guys and schools they are not just wrestling in season. I cannot believe we have people complaining from a 1200 person School that a little 500 person School is beating them. Tell your kids to get to work you are not going to get there by just wrestling in season. And if they're better than you then so be it if someone is better than us we don't complain that they should be in a different class we are going all the way to the top to find the best competition we can find. What else do you want from a 500 kid school? I thought wrestlers didn't make excuses!
