infowrestling reacted to Cael McCormick in Thank You
Indiana Wrestling Family,
Thank you all for the amazing support throughout my 18-year career. I especially want to thank my parents, coaches, teammates, and mentors from around the state. I appreciate the sacrifices you made to help me reach my goals.
Thank you to the Yorktown Wrestling family for developing me and my fellow Tigers. It is amazing to watch old teammates’ success at the collegiate level. Also, thank you to the administrators, officials, board members, and moderators (ISWA, IHSWCA, IndianaMat, etc.) for promoting Indiana wrestling.
Thank you to the Army Wrestling program. I have lifelong friends, coaches, and mentors that elevated my game to the national stage.
Thank you to anyone I missed in this message. There are so many amazing people from around the state, you all are incredible!
BHAW,
Cael McCormick

I'm very sorry. I meant it completely ironically and sarcastically because I feel very frustrated about our rigid seeding system. But irony is an irresponsible emotion to communicate in print because it's often unclear like this time. I would never in a million years think that either one of those guys would seriously not give their all to win a match. Obviously, a semi-state title in and of itself is an amazing accomplishment--let alone the additional consideration for next weekend. I'm sorry I didn't consider my words and my approach more carefully in the way I wrote it. Thanks for pointing it out since others would have felt the same in reading it.

This is a terrible take from someone who has a voice in our wrestling community. That was an extremely hard fought match. By saying something like this you are painting a bad picture of the sport of wrestling in Indiana. You should be embarrassed

Not a huge upset but, Currie from Adams Central winning 145 after Ulrick beat Fiechter. Fiechter took it to Currie several times this year, although the match at Regionals was a nail biter.
Lawson from Bellmont getting stuck in a cradle by Chacon when Lawson was controlling the match.
Winner getting beat by Lone....again not really a huge upset. Very boring match.
Cottingham losing to Shelton shocked me at 132.
Mason over Mccune at 152. I thought it was Mccune's to lose.

We definitely enjoyed the Friday Night Tournament. It went a little late but there was a great crowd! Really enjoyed having a free Saturday

So what did everyone think of the Friday night tournament?
It was a late night and didn't leave Bluffton much before midnight, but we have a Saturday off now before the the State Series begins!
Bluffton was a great venue and tournament was ran real smooth...just seemed to be a lot of blood and injury time that slowed down each round.
Congrats to Jay County on a great team performance and winning the tournament!

infowrestling got a reaction from bwoodjc89 in IHSGW State Finals
A few things:
1. The Girls State Finals @ Kokomo were great!! The finals we awesome and they were done right.........great job!!
2. It's a lot of fun to see how much our girls are improving in the state of Indiana!!! The quality of our girls wrestlers continues to grow, and evidence of this was on full display on Friday night in Kokomo
3. I had heard rumors while we were there that there is consideration going into eliminating the 88 and 98 lb girls weights. I hope that this is not the case. The lightest collegiate girls weight class is 101. If we eliminated those 2 classes our lightest girls weight would be 106. Can you imagine if it were this way on the boys side of things? The lightest collegiate boys weight class is 125 lbs..........what if the lightest high school boys weight was 132? Crazy.
Also, 88, 182, 195, 220, and 285 were not full brackets. 98 was full. I've heard no conversations of eliminating any of the upper weight classes.
4. There was also talk of going to 4 regionals throughout the state, with the top 4 from each regional advancing to state.
5. Has there been any conversation of moving to a Saturday?
Just a few of my observations, opinions and questions.......feel free to comment or share
3. Is there

infowrestling got a reaction from WoodJC82 in Team State adds 4A UPDATE: 8-8-12-12 teams (the people have spoken)
Correct. It is my understanding that they are published every 2 years for reclassification purposes in order for the IHSAA to assign new host sites if needed.
It is also my understanding that updated enrollment figures are released every year. Host site realignment is not a concern for the IHSWCA Team State tournament. It seems logical to use up to date enrollment figures, yearly, since they are available.

infowrestling reacted to Darrick Snyder in Team State adds 4A UPDATE: 8-8-12-12 teams (the people have spoken)
Anyone who knows me, knows I love the dual part of wrestling. As I give an opinion, keep in mind I’m at Brownsburg. We don’t have a dog in the fight. We will be largest division regardless. Our goal is to win so it doesn’t matter if 8 or 12 teams go.
Those that have an issue with the new system, would Joe’s suggestion/compromise take care of this -
4A and 3A have 8 teams.
1A and 2A have 12 teams.
Is there a schedule or space concern I’m not aware of?
If this is best for 1A and 2A schools, I’d say do it. Just my 2 cents. Thanks to everyone who makes Team State such a great event.

infowrestling reacted to Thor in IU vs Purdue
I gotta give it to Purdue this year. IU is getting some young talent, but they're still young. Purdue returns a lot of experience, including bring back 6 national qualifers to IUs one, two of those who ended up in the blood round.
IU has been making moves, but so has Purdue. Ersland has a pound for pound ranked kid coming in from PA in Gerit Neinjhuis coming in, as well as a nationally ranked Jake Rundell.

infowrestling reacted to Wrestling Scholar in "Shute, nobody wants to wrestle Shute"
Just a short Vision Quest story to get everybody excited and to get out of the pre-season wrestling doldrums. So I was on Facebook and I have an old wrestling buddy who is friends with Frank Jasper "AKA Brian Shute". My buddy got an awsome autographed picture from Frank of the legendary stadium log scene. I had a little conversation with Frank, and he answered some questions. He was at 4% body fat for the movie and that log was real and weighed a 100 pounds. That kind of made my day and thought i would share it. Frank is a fitness guru and sells "Shute Shirts". Here's the link https://www.shuteshirts.com/?fbclid=IwAR0fYW0aPCLB4wqM247T6-FdX1Ydue_7fza3I15wOc38nio_E4D-W75189o . Im just curious as to how many of today's high school kids have seen Vision Quest.
