I disagree re: the pic.  Agree on the ref not taking a look.  Should verify position and that two seconds have passed.  Neither happened.
The angle of the torso is tilted upward to the left side.

Again. Not taking anything from Asa... but if anything, that pic proves that the ref was not in position to see if Viduya’s left shoulder/scapula is down, and it suggests that his left side was, in fact, not down.

Further, the still photo accurately represents the amount of time the ref took to count what was supposed to be a two count. Basically, he took no time at all  because he never verified that both sides were down and there was exactly one second between the time that Viduya was in the position that the pin was called in and the mat was smacked.  In that second, the ref went from being on his feet to smacking the mat.  One second.  The rule is a two count.

Yes, filthy, filthy cradle.  But there is no rule that says if somebody hits a filthy cradle on you that you are automatically pinned.

Wrestling Scholar, we absolutely should be discussing this.  Because the whole point is that kids who work hard all season to make the finals should be protected from errant officiating by a Review Official at the head table.

I should have prefaced this thread by stating that my intention wasn’t to take anything away from Asa.  I apologize if anyone took it that way.
He is clearly a great, great wrestler, and that cradle was a mega eye-popper.  Rooting for him and all the other seniors headed to Bloomington!!  Excited to see that the future will bring!!  Go Hoosiers!!

When I asked “was the ref in position?”... I meant did he see the scapulas on the mat for two seconds?   Which is the rule.

Watching the video on Track....  :49 cradle is in position the pin was called in and the ref is up on his feet... by the time :48 hits the clock he is smacking the mat.  Assuming he had full view even if he saw it when he was up on his feet, it still couldn’t have been a two count.

And when they release, you can see vidyua’s left shoulder was on top of garcia’s chest.

This is the type of call that needs to be reviewed, imho

Again, I don’t know the ref or how he calls pins.  But to be blunt, if any ref calls a pin in high school without waiting for two full continuous seconds, then he is, quite frankly, breaking the rules he is being paid to enforce.  Consistently wrong is still wrong.

Well I guess if you thought Viduya was pinned you’d maybe think that Rodgers was pinned here.

Correct me if I am wrong, but a pin is shoulders/scapulae down for 2 seconds. Touch pin is freestyle, not folkstyle.
    Am I wrong about this?

First off I want to let everyone know I usually do not read threads on here and I just now signed up to be able to post because it sickens me to see these “likes” and comments! While I do not condone the issue of using plastics, I also do not  know the full story on what recently took place at Carmel High School, nor do any of you! It makes me sad that I see such negative comments towards my high school coach, knowing he has done SO much for many programs and for the state of Indiana. I am not going to sit here and tell you that I have agreed with everything Coach P has done, there have been times we haven’t seen things eye to eye.....But I am not going to forget everything else he stands for and the many improvements he has brought to the wrestling community in Indiana. Nobody is perfect! We all make mistakes, some more public than others. It saddens me to see so many people that have reaped the benefits of his presence in wrestling get on this thread and bash him and “like” derogatory comments about him.

Coaching isn’t easy and dealing with most parents does NOT make it fun. One of the fundamental rules I live my life by is “never kick a man when he is down”. I will put aside my thoughts and opinions and I CHOOSE to reach out and anyone who is down I try to help them rise again and become better! One bad decision does not define you!!! It is when you are down you will find your true friends, I am here for P. Writing thoughtless posts on message boards while hiding behind a keyboard is also a great way to burn bridges ..... something else I try very hard never to do!

Well.... a little history lesson. It was 2015 when the four founding fathers @JMILL @DLane @TeamGarciaand @Mattyb were in a really meaningless group text and came up the (numbersign)TheCounty. Since then, our area has been on a rise on the high school level (after years of success at the youth level). Some call it a coincidence, but.... the numbers don't lie.
Thank you to @Y2CJ41 for always having our backs and being our number one fan!
    😂🤣😂
Seriously... Really cool stats. Thanks for putting it all together.

Tough to make predictions in any year.   But especially this year.  Don’t know what weight everyone will be going and most weight classes will have tough matchups.
Plus, there will be surprises on how far down some of these kids will go.
    75- Syra/Demarco/Landen Haines
    80- Preston Haines/Billerman/Syra
    85- Seng/Foster/Billerman

    95- Lowery/Ison/Leavall
    102- Schoeff/Goin/Frazier
    110- Lemley/Goin/Gilbert
    117- Lemley/May/McConnell
