This is Justice Cash and after losing 4 times at semi-state I am coming on here to share the story that I never was able to share after winning a state title... The dog tag in the picture has been in my shoe for every wrestling match since Amante Young's death... He was a brother to me and there was nothing I wanted to do more than win a state title for him and his memory. He died tragically in a car crash a few months after winning a state title in Michigan. For those who knew Amante you would know he was one of the sweetest, joyful, and kind hearted people you've ever met. He was always smiling and brought so much joy to others, he always had my back, and he always wanted to make himself better. His home life was never amazing but he still was always trying to make money to give gifts to his whole family during holidays and other occasions even knowing he wouldn't be getting any from his parents at times. He always wanted to help people and he never acted like he was bound to be unsuccessful because of his home life, he found ways to make himself better and others around him better. I could go on and on about how amazing Amante was as a person and a wrestler and about how much he meant to me and so many others, but here is the end and the end of my high school career. I would be so grateful if anyone who reads this would mention his name in my place after winning a state title this year because I have failed to make it there for him myself... Thank you...

I don't know if the Attica example makes sense. Attica moved from Crawfordsville to Lafayette Jeff sectional in 2018.  Yes they did a little better once they got there.   But you say they had more success because the L Jeff is more balanced, but the L Jeff sectional is rated higher in the Genius team state qualifiers grid in 2019: Jeff=4 and Crawfordsville =3 so fair to say a stronger sectional.  In your theory, wouldn't that have had the opposite affect?   What do you mean by balanced?  Yes,  Attica did improve results  once they got into the L Jeff sectional,  but that's because there team got better before they got to the sectional  and were on an up peak cycle. Just my opinion,  but Attica's success was more due the strong group of kids developed around the coaches son.  It didn't have anything to do with the sectional they were in. They would have had similar and probably better results if they stayed at Crawfordsville.

Not to be contrarian,  but take North Posey which is the hottest small school going right now. Didn't they win the 1A team.   Due to there geographical location,  they have the misfortune of being in the same sectional as Evansville Mater Dei.   To be statistically real,  they have very little chance of ever winning  that sectional.   But what ever they're doing,  and its not winning local sectionals, its really working as they're a bright spot.

Just curious what was the breakout of percentages in the Logansport two sectionals over 10 years.

While I appreciate The data and logic, I think you overlooking the simple fact that people tend to dislike Boonville.

I get it.  How long are they going to ride the “young Abe Lincoln studied the law here” train?

    It’s exhausting.

    Pioneer this.

I believe everyone's problem with Boonville dates back to the past couple years around this time of year when Sectional, Regional, and Semi-State predictions are being thrown around and there guys weren't being picked and they were getting there feelings hurt over it. It is obvious though to the knowledgeable wrestling fan around our area that Boonville has been one of the better teams in the past couple years as your statistic shows with the number of Semi-State qualifiers.

I went back as far as trackwrestling goes having our Semi-State results (2013 - 2020), and the numbers are...
    Castle - 58
    Memorial - 34
    Mt. Vernon - 32
    Gibson Southern - 31
    Central - 27
    North Posey - 23
    Heritage Hills - 21
    Boonville - 19

Goebel was 533-14-2 in his career at MD. I don’t have year by year but figured I’d post this just for those that were interested.

“In 29 years, Goebel coached the Wildcats to an amazing 533-14-2 dual-meet record. One consecutive victory streak reached 135 matches, another 117. His incredible .974 winning percentage is a national record.“

If you're giving Fulks 7, I'll take Fulks all day...this will be a tight low-scoring match. If anyone scores 7 in this one it will be Fulks. Fitts is a bull, but Fulks is plenty stout himself and a little more athletic than Fitts. If anyone goes to their back in this one it will be Fitts.

It's actually the Las Vegas Raiders now, and they will be just fine. Beautiful stadium being built. I wouldn't be surprised to see a Super Bowl in the near future. I think you are getting the Raiders and the Patriots confused (Tuck rule, Deflate Gate, Video espionage). The Tuck Rule game probably cost the Raiders a Super Bowl. The Patriots are the ones that have been busted multiple times recently. You have to go back to the Stick Um days to bust the Raiders. Congrats on your first championship in 50 years. The Chiefs needed the Cardinals and the Rams to leave St. Louis so they could be the best team in Missouri. I do like Mahomes though...just hope you can keep him around.

Another potential spoiler if I remember the bracket right, Fulks should have Bryant from Gibson Southern before Fitts. Bryant is no slouch and could pull an upset if Fulks looks past him. Fulks will have to use some of the gas tank in that match while Fitts should be on cruise control until the finals. Definitely helps Fitts. Gonna be fun day with some great matches.

Anyone who has ever been around John and has witnessed his dedication, work ethic, and class would agree that first and foremost he is the "product" of a great and supportive family.  He has made good choices by surrounding himself with great folks that can help him (none better than MCWC) but that's what successful people do.

To Uncle Jimmy's Chagrin we got to hi-jack a little more on the Superbowl.   I really wasn't saying the Raiders have been cheating lately,  I was more referring to their motto  coined by Al Davis "Just Win Baby" that was referenced earlier.   Its all around their old Oakland stadium, and the motto obviously hasn't been working for the last 20 years,   and i was remiss is saying the  Oakland Raiders.  Old habit.  They need a new motto.  But it was a great opportunity to reference my superbowl champion Chiefs.

Maybe the people who thought the Cardinals or Rams were the best team in Missouri are the ones are the geniuses that thought the Kansas City Chiefs were in Kansas.     Besides a couple years of the "Greatest Show  on Earth" by the Rams,  my Chiefs have always been the best team in Missouri.  Come on.  And I'm from the Kansas side of Kansas City, we know.   Hell,   I belonged to the KC wolf pack  when i was 10.  The Scholar digresses and is going to buy Superbowl Chiefs shirts for the family tonight.  Now we can get back to wrestling.

Purdy was a stud and multi-state champ before Castle or MCWC. I don't think MCWC wasn't around yet when he was 5/6. MCWC helped him get to another level. A lot of MCWC kids will be at the top, or near the top, of the podium this Saturday in Evansville including Fitts/Fulks. Fantastic program.

My son is a QB that has done camps in GA and CA with kids from all over the country. Every QB parent that I have ever talked to from California, and many from Texas, had held their kid back. I was even given a tutorial on how/when to do it. We elected to stay the course and keep him in his natural grade even though he is on the young side. It has put him at a disadvantage in some cases, but he'll be fine either way.

As some of you may know, a family from Castle  lost their home this week.  CUSAWC is going to host Double HL (Humpday Head Lock) Camp on Wednesday, Feb 21st from 6:45-8:15 at CHS (enter door 21).  We will have celebrity coaches showing the greatest headlocks known to mankind.   .

We are asking for a $20 donation for attending camp, but this is not mandatory.  We’d love to have a room full of guys to battle, raise some money for a wrestling family, and have a good time.
