There will be a lot of highly ranked match ups. But the real question is who will be the break out star that is ranked low or unranked?

The Zebra reacted to Wrestlingfan937 in Toughest Regular Season Tournament
The spartan classic was a very tough tournament years ago, But with lots of high quality teams leaving for team state or other big tournies it is not the same. Still a good tournament! but obviously is not the al smith, but hosted some really good final matches. My bracket back in 2012 had 1-6 place all state qualifiers including Vinny cosaro and josh farell that ended up being the state finals match.

The Zebra reacted to TeamGarcia in 60th Annual Brecksville Invitational Holiday Tournament
After 59 consecutive editions, the Brecksville Invitational Holiday Tournament took a one-year hiatus due to the societal response to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, a most excellent and talented field featuring 50 schools will return to contest the 2021 edition of this tournament at Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School on Wednesday, December 29 and Thursday, December 30. The field includes 13 schools from Northeast Ohio joining to compete against a diverse field of teams from across the Buckeye State, along with a pair from Indiana and four from Michigan.
Featured from the teams this field are 191 wrestlers that have previously appeared in a state wrestling tournament, which includes 20 wrestlers that were state champions in 2021: Dylan Fishback (Aurora); Kyle Snider (CVCA); Justin Gates, Caden Horwath, Joshua Barr, and Jimmy Colley (Davison, Mich.); Drew Heethuis, Dylan Gilcher, Darius Marines, and Manuel Rojas (Detroit Catholic Central, Mich.); Seth Shumate (Dublin Coffman); Kade Kluce, Braeden Davis, Kaden Chinavere, Aiden Davis, and Casey Swiderski (Dundee, Mich.); Max Hermes (Milan Edison); Dylan Russo (Olentangy Liberty); Joey Blaze (Perrysburg); and Brody Conley (Tiffin Columbian)
Fifteen additional wrestlers finished second at the state tournament last year: Eli Criblez (Allen East), Codie Cuerbo (Aurora), Cheaney Schoeff (Avon, Ind.), Logan Ours (Beaver Local), Dylan Newsome (Bishop Hartley), Jake Niffenegger (Cincinnati LaSalle), Evan Herriman and Remy Cotton (Davison, Mich.), Omar Ayoub (Dublin Coffman), Brendan McCrone (Lake Catholic), Carson Crace (Lowell, Mich.), Pito Castro (Louisville), Aiden Fockler (Massillon Perry), Trey Allen (Mechanicsburg) and Camden McDanel (Teays Valley). In all 116 members of the field placed in the top eight of their state tournament bracket last year.
Detroit Catholic Central (Mich.) had won three consecutive titles at this tournament prior to the COVID cancellation in December 2020. They had won four consecutive dual team state titles prior to a runner-up finish last season, and sit ranked No. 6 nationally as of the middle of December. The Shamrocks are led by their four returning state champions plus four additional state placers and three additional state qualifiers.
Five other nationally ranked teams appear in the field: No. 10 Brownsburg (Ind.), No. 11 Davison (Mich.), No. 29 Dublin Coffman, No. 31 Perrysburg, and No. 49 Dundee (Mich.)
Davison dethroned Detroit Catholic Central for the dual team state title in 2021 after finishing as runners-up in five of the previous eight years. They are anchored by four state champions, two state runners-up, five additional state placers, and a wrestler that made state in 2020
Brownsburg won their state tournament in 2017 with state runners-up finishes bookending that in 2016 and 2018; while the Bulldogs have finished tied for third, fourth, and sixth since then. This year’s edition features a pair of returning state third place finishers, an additional state medalist, a 2020 state champion, three others with state experience, and Jake Hockaday headlines an excellent class.
Dublin Coffman has won three consecutive district tournament titles, and finished tied for fourth in this past year’s Division I state tournament. The Shamrocks return a state champion, a state runner-up, three additional state placers, and two other state qualifiers. Perrysburg finished sixth in last year’s Division I state tournament, returning a state champion, three additional wrestlers that have placed at the state tournament, two additional state qualifiers, along with freshman Marcus Blaze who just won the Walsh Ironman.
Dundee has won four consecutive dual team state titles, and has been in the dual team state final for all but one of the last fifteen years; the Vikings have eight titles in that stretch. This year’s team returns five state champions, three additional state placers, and a 2020 state qualifier.
Six wrestlers that won tournament titles in 2019 return to this year’s edition of the Brecksville Invitational Holiday Tournament: Pito Castro, Dylan Gilcher, Nate Burnett (Elyria), Brody Conley, Dylan Fishback, and Seth Shumate. Casey Swiderski was runner-up in the 2018 edition of the event, while Caden Horwath and Kaden Jett (Brecksville) were runners-up when the event was last held in 2019.
The BIHT would like to welcome all 50 teams to the event, in particular Allen East, Barnesville, and Bowling Green whom are making their overall debut to the event. In addition, 11 other teams have previously been part of the tournament field but were not in the last edition of the event: Avon (Ind.), Brownsburg (Ind.), Cincinnati LaSalle, Columbus DeSales, Fremont Ross, Garrettsville Garfield, Indian Valley, Marion Pleasant, Monroeville, Olentangy Orange, and Teays Valley.

The Zebra reacted to Bigtoe19 in Toughest Non-Mooresville Regional Weight Class
I will give some thought to this Topic. Yes Mooresville Regional is a Meatgrinder. It has always been. A Weight that Pops out at me is the 195 at Evansville North. Look at the rankings you basically have the States top 3 Wrestlers with Purdy-
Castle, Sollars-EMD & Willman-NoPo. Then there will be a wrestler that will make some noise for themselves and their School.
Now the other weight class that I see a true fight just to make Semi State and draw into a Top Ranked kid is going to be 126 at Bloomington Regional. This is an area closer to my home base. My real question is Lane Gilbert of Sullivan??
Why you ask, cause he wants to stay at 120! Was recently injuried and came back to wrestle in Greencastle at 126 that weekend. So what fits him and Sullivan the
BEST? The Regional already has 5/6 wrestlers that have been in the Rankings this year by Joe in the 126 State Class.
Wrestlers like H May-THS, B Lain-Tell City, B Weaver-Owen Vlly, P King-New Alb, A Gann-Bl. South, Shackelford-Fl Cnt and other tough wrestler out of the Bl.North and Southridge Sectionlas.
So my thoughts Good Luck to all and have a Safe Holiday, Bigtoe19. 🤫
