They did it with Lee/Red...It only makes sense. Zeke going for his 3rd title match before, Jesse for his 4th right after!
Yes he beat Watts. Curtis was also in the bracket....Later Conway, Wagner, and Mendez would be champs

His IHPO run has been awesome, he has beat so many nationally ranked guys as well. For me the most impressive thing I have seen out of Jesse was his U23 performance. He Tech'd McKee

I don't know, but judging by the frustration here, maybe. I have seen multiple proposals here that make sense. The technology clearly exists to prioritize families while providing schools blocks of seats.

It doesn't seem like it should be that hard, but clearly it is.

With 7 from EC and 6 from FW that doesn't leave much for EV and NC.

I won't speak for others, but I didn't experience anything different from previous years. People were walking right through with coolers and bags. No one said a word.

The concession lines were a bit long, but the longest I waited was perhaps 3 minutes.

Pretty crappy that a qualifier has to buy a ticket to have a seat in the stands when they aren't competing.

Should be like it was a few years ago......if you lost on Friday night, the kid would get a voucher for a ticket for Saturday

I understand why all of you guys that want a block of seats aren't extremely happy with this.  There should be a solution to that, like someone mentioned, the school gets a block or something.  More importantly I'm REALLY happy that parents get 4 ahead of time.

From the perspective of a Coach/Fan with no participants that wants to come watch the greatest state tournament in the country, reserved seating is FANTASTIC news!  For SOO many reasons:
I don't have to arrive 2 hours before wrestling starts Saturday morning in order to stand outside for an hour...then to stand inside for an hour People don't have to leave before the 195, 220's and Heavy's Saturday afternoon to go get lunch so they can be back in time to wait in line again for 2 hours!   After they do kick us out for lunch Saturday I can actually enjoy lunch and beautiful downtown Indy instead of staying and sitting on the floor in the foyer area for 2 hours!  No more dealing with RUDE people throwing elbows and pushing trying to get there 10 seconds before everyone else. If my wife and I want a snack and can't decide what to get we can actually BOTH go look and not worry about our seats getting taken! Also this year I won't have to worry about wanting to punch someone for saving 64 seats with programs and sweatshirts!!!!   Yes, the 10:00 pm Friday thing kinda sucks, but man I tell ya, I will not miss the above mentioned things!

I hope this is not true. 1st qualifier from school. Worked his butt off for at least 4 years to get there. It is so hard to stay at that lowest weight all 4 years. I was really pulling for him. Don't know him, but can relate to 4years light weight Southern Indiana small school. Always a new Frosh/Soph to deal with in Conf/Sect/Reg/etc. Stuck with it, had a great year, best of luck to him.

I don"t know this young man personally but Sunday I gained much respect for him and his character.  He took time to message my son to wish him good luck this week and to tell him he deserved it the way he wrestled Saturday.   I think that was  a class act and meant alot .  I hate it for Logan but if its any consolation it made another young man"s DREAM come true.    Good luck to you in the future

Jason, I didn't and don't know exactly what to say. I can say this, watching and hearing about his response in those circumstance says volumes. And, that is a heck of a lot more important that one wrestling match or even a State tourney.

    You have a great kid.

I want to first say thank you to @blueandgold for starting this thread.  I was not sure who you were but have been informed and I have huge amounts of respect for you young man so again thank you for the kind words about Logan.

To everyone else who has commented on here thank you also so very much.  I have been around wrestling for many many years as an athlete, coach, ISWA board member & parent.  I have gotten to know lots and lots of kids and families from all over the state thru the many many years
Thru all the years I have known this is a great sport that can have heartbreaking endings and results and equally great un-believable outcomes and accomplishments.

Logan has had a great career in the sport and has achieved things greater than I would have and could have expected for him.  The thing that makes me the happiest of all after everything he has gone thru (especially over the last two years) is how he carried himself after it all came to an end on Saturday.   Mom and I were completely devastated and honestly I could not think or rationalize what to do next, but seeing Logan stand up shake hands and then come back out and sit with his team was un-believable to me.  I talked to him a few times during the rest of the day and while I was teary he assured me he was OK and he was going to be fine just a little disappointed.

Now to address all the above comments (like I said I have made many friends along the way during my time in the sport) and I thank all of you for your kind words.  Most of you I do not know personally but please seek me out at some point at any ISWA event so I can fist bump you and thank you personally for acknowledging what I know already is that Logan is an awesome & kind young man.

To @Darrick Snyder @mikemorgan what a wild ride its been over 4 years from a state title to a heartbreaking loss and everything in between (thanks to Mike for coming in to help navigate this last run).  You guys have been awesome and amazing and I know I will be friends with you guys forever and love you both.  Thank you for everything.

Lastly to @tiger92 thank you for post and to be honest it does not surprise me that Logan found your son on social media some how and reached out to him to congratulate him and wish him good luck going forward.
Unfortunately for me I selected seats in the part of the arena that I had sat in the previous times I had been fortunate enough for Logan to be at Semi-state and did not want to break from tradition even though they were not in the "B-burg section".  This turned out to be right next to the Princeton fan section.  It was tough to be honest, but I did get to see what I think was mom and dad happy and elated for their son Jared Dunn thru the whole day.  To me that is what this sport is all about, as I was devastated they were elated and I honestly could not be mad about that.   I hope your son enjoys this experience and has the time of his life.  Its a great event being at the state finals and I know he will soak it all in and have great life experiences and take a ways.  I hope he makes a deep run and can achieve all he wants and dreams about.

To all other kids competing this weekend best of luck, stay safe & healthy and accomplish your dreams and enjoy the moments, soak it all in and never have regrets.

If I am recalling the rules correctly the 1min. 1st period in the consols is an option.  Not necessarily a set in stone rule.  I wouldn’t mind at least seeing a 2 min. 1st period in the consols at least for 3rd/4th at all levels, as well as for all state placement.

I've spoken to him, but don't know him personally. However, I've watched him wrestle for a few years. Every year, he was getting noticeably better.

Trust me, if you were paying attention, you knew. He was talking to kids, asking questions and trying to figure out his opponents (even in middle school).

If this is the trade off for getting Reserved seating, I will take it. It is a step in the right direction in my eyes and hopefully can be tweaked in the future after this year to make it better for everyone involved.

I personally would like to see the IHSAA set aside some seats for the parents of the wrestlers in the Finals Saturday night. An accomplishment that great deserves a front row seat for them to watch.

How about Ashton Jackson making a statement last year, and beating #1 at the time Jeffrey Bailey 8-2, and winning a state title the next weekend? I don't think most people at the time even thought him as a title contender before that.

I think Vaughn hit slide-bys on everyone.  If I recall there were several equally matched guys at New Castle, Chastain, Ellis, Napier, McKinney, and Eldred. Good bracket.

No matter what happens in the next couple of weeks, Brandon and Donnie Feeler are going to end a journey the same way they started it – together.

Donnie Feeler is a senior 106-pounder from Crawford County. Brandon is his father and the only coach he has ever had.

“Our situation is a little unique,” Brandon said. “I’ve coached him since he was five years old. We’ve been on this journey for many, many years. It means a lot to both of us, to say the least.”

Brandon still remembers the day Donnie came home from school, waving a flyer about wrestling around and begging to be able to be part of it.

“Donnie was a big fan of WWF wrestling back then,” Brandon said. “He would constantly watch it on TV. At the time we lived in Scottsburg and he brought home this flyer about wrestling – thinking it was going to be jumping off the ropes like they did in WWF. I explained to him what it was, and he was still really eager to go.”

So, Donnie joined wrestling and Brandon started coaching the sport. Brandon had a background in grappling, but he was learning wrestling at the same time he was teaching it to Donnie.

The two dived headfirst into the sport. Brandon would drive Donnie to tournaments across the country. They would have hours together in the car, in the hotels and in the restaurants. They formed a strong bond through the sport.

“Me and my dad, we’ve had our differences,” Donnie said. “But the sport has really grown us closer. It’s not just me out there. It’s him too. We go through the same emotion and the same stress. It’s not easy being a coach of a son. There are times when I just don’t want to train. But it’s good to have a coach that keeps after me and keeps me going.”

Last year Donnie did something that no other kid in the history of his school has accomplished. He qualified for the state tournament.

“There were a lot of emotions when he won his ticket round match,” Brandon said. “He punched his ticket. That was just a real proud moment.”

Qualifying for state put a new fire in Donnie. He didn’t win his Friday night match, but he started working harder than ever before. He and his dad went to tournament after tournament last summer. They hit the mat hard and pushed like never before. The problem was all that wrestling started to burn Donnie out. He questioned whether he wanted to go on.

“I was just burnt out,” Donnie said. “I was exhausted from the off-season wrestling. I just didn’t want to do it anymore.”

Qualifying for state also came with some high expectations for Donnie. His focus seemed to change, according to his dad.

“To some degree he was wrestling for all the wrong reasons,” Brandon said. “He was trying to be the best wrestler for an audience, not for himself. He contemplated whether he even wanted to wrestle his senior year. He did some soul searching and came back with some confidence. He was ready to unlock his potential.”

Donnie said that renewed vigor came from having some talks with his dad.

“That relationship with my father, and just speaking with him and listening to what he had to say – that really helped me regain my focus,” Donnie said.

This year Donnie is coming off a regional championship. He is Crawford County’s first regional champion, and now he’s a two-time champ. He’s ranked No. 12 at 106 pounds and currently has an unblemished 20-0 record. His goal ultimate goal is to be his school’s first-ever state placer in wrestling.

Crawford County has just a handful of wrestlers on the team. In practice Donnie’s only choice is to go up against guys weighing 120-152. But that’s OK. He embraces the David vs. Goliath philosophy. He likes being the underdog. He likes coming from a small school and wrestling the big programs. He likes being counted out.

“I want to win it all,” Feeler said. “But no matter what happens I’m going to give it my all. If all else fails, we gave it a good run and had a fun four years.”

For Brandon, the next few weeks will mark the end of a journey.

“We started his career together and we’re going to finish it together,” Brandon said. “It’s going to be an emotional time, for sure. But we’ve had a heck of a ride.”
