Isn't the point that you are the best that won once. Next criteria will be you have to go to a noble school! Lol

God I wish this many kids did freestyle!
-
What brand of gear are these kids getting? And are we for sure getting the best kids to represent IN at this event?
JK
I see what you did there!

We had the pleasure of wrestling on Renegade North for the last 2 years. I agree the competition isn't of the highest quality, but there are nationally ranked kids that wrestle there, along with state placers and state champs. I would think from a tournament running stand point you would want to have as even as team as possible to build excitement and encourage repeat returning to event. Now, on the state side of things I would say beat the crap out of all the teams! But this would not make me want to return if I was beat this bad, mostly if I traveled long distances.
No disrespect but this, to me, feels more like a politics thing than a wrestling situation. If you have kids that will not compete if they aren't on a team or with friends than you are losing them anyway. There was a big survey done a few years back on baseball kids (10-14 years old) that questioned them if they would rather play with friends and lose or play on a team of kids they didn't know and win! They picked friends and lose like 85% over winning. Something about that fun thing that makes kids want to do it more and be more successful.

You mean they didn't break having that many matches......LOL.

I ask a lot of these it seems like, so I'll try to keep it to a minimum, but I am HIGHLY curious to gain insight on the New Castle wrestling program. They have three of the six (should be seven) kids listed on the IHSAA website for 200+ victories. What was this program like from 1996 to 2003? What were Keith Garrard (1996), Matt Jaggers, and Mac Taylor (2003) like?
They would have probably had another if Derrick Crousore would have stayed in New Castle. His dad took the High School principal job in Warsaw between Derricks 8th & 9th grade years. He had what was the Warsaw record wins of 164 until this year. We just didn't wrestle as many matches as New Castle did. I believe Derrick was a 4 time state qualifier/placer. I'm sure his brothers, who went to Wabash College are probably on that list.

Yea you heard that too?
We were asked by the guy running it if we would be interested! Said they would wave the first year fees!

Is this why it is so hard for Team Indiana to get the upper kids when they go to the National tournaments also. Does "Team Gorilla" have secret teams going to events we don't know about. This is just silly! So what if we don't have the best kids on one team. I thought it was about getting as many kids wrestling over the summer. If Indiana was a 3 class state, most of these kids would be qualified to be on the gold or blue team!
I hear AAU is looking for someone to start up a tournament before Florida, which would be around this time. At least they were 2 years ago and I don't see any that have started since that time.

Think I heard it's easier if you get good grades and are a good wrestler.......so the story goes.

Most of the time on here, when someone gets defensive!

Do you have to be related to the person you wrestle?

Or new announcer for the region!
-
You would have to enter sectionals with 45 matches to get to 60. 4 sectional, 3 regional, 4 semi-state, and 4 state = 15 matches. Not to many teams reached that many matches.
