Guys a new camp has opened up I would recommend all Indiana Programs take advantage of such a great experience for their kids and a chance to get better and push Indiana to a Better place.

Unless you have the last name Davison or Lee, my guess is your son is much more likely to get a scholarship for his brains than his brawn.

The room was awesome this weekend, and Maurer and Coughlin were amazing, but we did learn a couple special things being around this group for 2 days:

    1.  Nick Lee would be a much better Russian circus acrobat than Joe Lee
    2.  Brayton Lee really doesn't stop smiling
    3.  Chris Rumph's back handspring is just slightly better that Bam Lawrence's
    4.  Welch and Welch are fast
    5.  We learned what the MCWC truly stands for
    6.  Doug Welch catches bigger fish than Remo and Eric, and Chad isn't even considered for voting
    7.  Vega needs to stop wrestling right after shaving
    8.  Guys from Chicago are insane scramblers
    10. Noah Warren does talk less than Eiteljorge

There was probably more learned than this, but it's what stuck in our head the most!

In all honesty, it was a great room to watch.  Coach Maurer and Coach Coughlin were as good as we have been told and we can't wait until we can get them back in our room.

I echo that sentiment.  My kid guested with BBurg at Disney, hurt his hand half way through, watched the rest of the week and still said he learned a lot and had a lot of fun.

I can guarantee you that if most countries had a guy like Burroughs he would not have had to wrestle-off, he would just be on the team.  I can tell you guys like Satiev, Belaglozlov, Fadziev, etc..., NEVER wrestled-off for a spot on their team once they were established.

They aren't crowning a champion.  They are selecting who would best represent their country at the sport's most elite competition.  Just because a guy has a good day doesn't mean he will compete better against the rest of the world.

A better comparison would be a returning state champ not having to wrestle-off for the spot on his high school team the next year.

I'm not sure where to begin when talking about this event. When I started pursing this event over a year ago I knew about the prestige of it. When I started getting the details I was even more impressed...BUT after actually experiencing it...I'm at a loss for words. Even though we came up short on the team score I was still grinning ear to ear from everything going on. This event was first class from the beginning, the kids got a boat load of gear on top of being treated like royalty. We had an awesome recognition banquet with great speakers on Friday night. Saturday after a buffet breakfast we went on a tour of Pittsburgh that included lunch on the river while touring on a boat.

Then came the wrestling! What an electric and exciting atmosphere to wrestle in. You have 3000 fans there watching you wrestle and to add a little sugar to it we were the enemy in hostile territory. The kid's wrestled their BUTTS off and I give them a ton of credit. We fought, we battled, we got to wrestle on the biggest stage possible. Guys from Flo are raving about our guys, the PWC Committee members are talking about all our kids about how great they are. I'm like a proud poppa right now. Special shout outs to Owen Doster and Drew Hughes who stepped up and wrestled twice tonight. Big props to both Cael McCormick and Nick Fox who stepped up to battle up a weight class AND on super short notice. Thanks to all our parents and coaches who got their kids here and committed to this event on Easter weekend. Thanks to Coach P, Coach Vega, and Coach Cooper for helping out while I handled the organization of the event.

This was a great event for Indiana wrestling and I can tell you the coolest part...they are telling me to start getting ready to bring another team back soon!

Be more respectful of the things you have and don't forget where you came from.  Many of you don't realize the growth of the ISWA folkstyle state.  It has grown from a small tournament in a sports complex in Bloomington to the Mellancamp facility (with two restrooms)  to a dungeon industrial warehouse with leaky port 'o pottys to Lawrence Central  (jeeze that was a nightmare made space in a crowded subway look comfortable)  to two different weekends at two different schools to what we have now.  What we have now is by far the best.

I only have one concern.  Using Warren Central is fantastic, plenty of space and bathrooms ect.  I'm worried that non respectful parents are going to ruin the ISWA's chance to continue to use the school.  Warren like most High schools is a tobacco free campus.  When I left on Saturday afternoon I noticed hundreds of cigarette butts laying on the ground outside the entrance.  It appears to me as if the staff and students take pride in their school.  If was the principal of Warren, that very well could be a deal breaker for me using my school.

The ISWA does not always please everyone, but with over 2100 athletes along with their coaches and fans getting in and out of that place like it was done this weekend is a small miracle.

So if we want to continue to keep using this facility, be respectful, pick up after yourself, dont scratch walls and break things, be careful and mindful that this public facility but the school corporation and administration staff has been kind enough to give the stamp of approval.  We are only there 2 days of the year the students are there for 180 and they obviously have a nice facility to be proud of.

i dont understand why people knock on red so much, his freshman year almost everybody cheered for him then by his senior year it was a lot against him. why can't people just be more positive forward all the wrestlers, nick lee is a stud, chad red  is a stud. there are lots of studs, red doesn't have to prove himself to anyone other than himself yet he is still the best and has proved that to everyone, reds celebration and words on the telly this year at state weren't bad, they were directed toward all the doubt and he deserved to say what he said. he a great kid, a great wrestle, and has a great future in store, just like many.

They cancelled the all class tourament this year. its open to top 4 at each class, but everyone doesnt attend it. i am assuming no one attends because its held weeks later fhsaa state w/ only the normal 2lb allowance 106 (108). and the kids are over cutting weight at that point.

if anyone wants to see trey and asa wrestle.....bring a pillow! they have trained with eachother for so long, and know every little thing about eachother wrestling wise. lol. and at contenders they do live goes at the end of practice best of 3 takedowns.....practice is over, they have the whole mat to themselves (because everyone else is finished) and the building is clear cause everyone left....and 40 min later still no takedowns. at times it go for so long, ryan would tell me to lock up because he was going home
