Ok so there won’t be holes and forfeits at all. We have always filled the weight classes at the next level. There will be some 5th and maybe some 6th places move onto the Semi-State. Since the beginning we have brought girls back in to fill up weights. So everyone will get a shot that deserves it. Like I can remember not to long ago that their was just 1 or 2 girls in the south regional and we just brought the 5th and 6th place in leveled it out from the north. We will immediately know after the the tourneys completed who to notify for them to come back in for the semi-state.

When your 7yr old son says 
“ how can you go coach everyone else, but can’t come coach me….” That hits hard!!!  100% reason I stepped away from HS sports a couple of years ago. Family first!

In 2008, IndianaMat emerged as an informational resource for high school wrestling across the state of Indiana, filling a communication void and connecting the wrestling community from border to border. Fifteen years later, it continues to serve as the epicenter of the Indiana wrestling community, from providing feature stories on prominent athletes to weekly rankings across regions.
 
This is the story of how it began.
 
For years, a message board run by the Indiana High School Wrestling Coaches Association (IHSWCA) served as the main source of communications for wrestlers, fans and coaches – both high school and college coaches looking to recruit – on lineups, rankings (loose rankings, if any at all) and results.
 
It was late-November, peak holiday and weight-cutting season for wrestlers across the state with less than one month of official practice under their belts, when the message board got hacked and effectively rendered useless. There was no Twitter – or X, as it’s now known – to provide instantaneous information like there is today. Facebook was just gaining traction, officially surpassing MySpace as the most used social media app earlier that year.
“[The message board] was your go-to place to get wrestling information,” Joe Caprino, creator of IndianaMat, said. “You didn’t have access to cell phones and such – everyone was communicating that way. It was really popping at times, especially during the season.”
The old message board served as an initial connection for wrestling fans in the state, which is how the trio of Caprino, Chad Hollenbaugh (who had previously coached with Caprino) and Eric McGill ­(a former two-time state champion at Munster High School and Cornell University wrestler) formed to create a new information center.
With the first week of competition looming, there was a frenzy for information and no resource to turn to. Caprino, Hollenbaugh and McGill knew something new was needed – and quickly.

Go to IHSGW.net and look at you regional site for this upcoming girls state tourney this upcoming season. We went from 4 regional sites to 16 regional sites. We have now added 4 Semi-State locations and our final state championships will be at the Wildcats of Kokomo High school at the Kokomo Memorial Gym. Girls weights will be as follows for this upcoming season. 14 Weight Classes – 100, 105, 110, 115, 120, 125, 130, 135, 140, 145, 155, 170, 190, 235.

I knew before I even watched it,that Coach Morgan was the one that caught the weight issue…..nothing gets by that dude.

Looks like the teams in the high school division from Indiana  are Outlaws x5, Elite Athletic Club, The Fort, Solid Tech, Team Ironbear (Hamilton Heights), Fight Barn (Columbus East), Beast Nation & Beast Nation Gold and Owen Valley. Also some of the more well known teams picked up some of our studs.

New Castle High School did a great job with the 1985 state finals. The Chariots of Fire music they played during the parade remains my most inspiring moment of the finals to this day. Has the state finals wrestling fan base grown too big for New Castle? 

The pride of Lawrenceburg Indiana gets it done in the finals.  Years of struggle and hard works pays off.  Great job young man, you earned it.
