Y2CJ41
Here is a good one Only 14 wrestlers have qualified for state as a freshman at 180lbs and above! 1927--Hwt--4--Robert Jones- Wabash 1930--Hwt--2--Charles McDaniel- Bloomington South 1940--Hwt--2--Dick Eggers- Hammond Clark 2013--285--7--Shawn Streck- Merrillville 2014--285--Q--Owen Perkins- Oak Hill 2013--220--Q--Kobe Woods- Penn 2014--220--Q--Gunnar Larson- Avon 1996--215--Q--Ian Spearman- Southport 2002--215--Q--Christopher Kasten- Winamac 1991--189--Q--Damon Hummel- Rochester 2010--189--Q--Matt Hurford- Culver Community 2010--189--3--Mitch Sliga- Fishers 2015--182--3--Mason Parris- Lawrenceburg 2015--182--Q--Ryan Hammond- Whiteland 800lbs Gorilla Mama
sportsfangms
While it is a fact that Hebron does not have a state qualifier, their program is relatively new, around 5 years old if I'm not mistaken, so it's not entirely shocking that they've yet to realize any level of success. aoberlin
Westview surprises me a little. I know their basketball program is great. But I always thought they fielded some decent wrestlers you would think one would sneak through over the years.

Caleb Spires
That short list helps further the evidence that Parris has a solid shot at being one of the all-time greats by the time he graduates. At this rate he'll be a 1-loss 3xer with a veeeeeerrrry close loss to the state champ as a freshman, before dominating the field with a returning state champ as a sophomore, up 40 pounds. Also shows how much better the young heavier weights are getting. 8/14 on that list are just from the last 7 years! warsawwrestling
Great job on the site! Wondering if there is anyway to compile individual year data. So for example so you could see all finishers/placers at state for 1988 at 103? Like a search of year/weight?

Caleb Spires
wait a second here......You are saying that Mason Parris only weighed 180 lbs last year ?From 182 to 220 between freshman and sophomore year. IWFTKWC11
he wrestled 182 From 182 to 220 between freshman and sophomore year. He may not have actually gained all the weight but he still jumped up 38 pounds. I see what you guys are saying. I was thinking last year as in the 2015-2016 season he wrestled 220. and the previous year before that he wrestled 182. I was saying that THIS year is the 2016-2017 season since school has started, BUT I guess since wrestling hasn't started it's not techincally THIS year. Either way he still pounds
