hammer
A few years ago I had a kid in the state championship match (placed 2nd) and he placed 3rd in the Al Smith Invitational. Pretty tough tournament! How about Hector Mendez winning state after placing 5th or 6th at the Al Smith Invite? The crazy thing is that that tournament is tougher today than it was back then! I remember when Lawrence North had their state championship team up there. Great competition. If you place top 3 at Mishawaka you are basically going to place at state. Now there are a few exceptions so don't start talking smack everyone haha

The crazy thing is that that tournament is tougher today than it was back then! It has always been pretty tough, even back then. EC in it's prime years and Portage used to be there. I am sure I am missing a few as well that had previous stints in the Al Smith. My hats off to Coach Snyder for trying to keep the tournament very competitive year in and year out.
