  2. you are extremely biased if you think those first two guys wouldn't get teched 10-0 by Yazdani in 3-4 minutes 90% of the time they wrestle. More of a fun trivia than evidence of this, but Yazdani beat Dieringer 10-0 in 2016 actually Those guys all scored (repeatedly) on Brooks because they are "very dynamic in moments". So DT couldn't score a single TD on Brooks in two matches because he is not dynamic in moments? the guy who got a clutch takedown losing 3-2 with 5 seconds to go in an Olympic final? Azarpira was 19-20 years old and hadn't even wrestled at 92kg as a junior... and he was a last minute replacement for Ghasempour so he didn't even have time to acclimate to the weight. so yes on balance and seeing their more recent results I will attribute that loss to the weight. which isn't to say that Zahid is not very good. he is. but he is not a serious contender to Yazdani or DT at their best. Don't give him any chance of beating Ghasempour either. Brooks might be the toughest challenge to Yazdani. but maybe not. I wouldn't be surprised if he loses to Naifonov or Kurugliev, to be honest.

  4. Jim, there seems to be a connection between you and these lads......
  5. In the last two days I have received at least 4 requests for a girls wrestling coach. It seems that the word has been out about this change and schools are looking to add to their coaching staff. When I asked about this at state this year, I was told that the girls that started off wrestling in the boy's tournament would be allowed to continue, but that all from this point forward would only be allowed in the girl's tournament. I do not know how accurate that is, just what I was told.
  6. Super super pumped for our young ladies! any idea when we’ll get info for scheduling requirements (number of duals vs tourneys, etc;) or state tourney info? Wanna ensure I have enough staff and am scheduling our girls against the correct competition to prepare them for their state series. Related: I need more assistant coaches! Hit me up!
  7. As for the Super Bowl, absolutely fine with me. Currently I have President's Day off but curious to see if that remains, especially if Goodell gets it accomplished. I'm good having wrestling state finals Friday & Saturday and then probably a youth wrestling tournament Sunday morning to afternoon followed up by a Super Bowl party that night. Definitely need that extra day of rest. Is that also the Daytona 500 time line too? Might catch the end before the Super Bowl.
  8. Don't see the SuperBowl coming back to Indy any time soon. They are already scheduled through at least 2027 and with some new stadiums popping up (Nashville) they will get to host before Indy does.

  10. Currently have a few coaching opportunities available for the upcoming season. This could be an opportunity for a Ball State student to get a start in coaching. Please reach out if interested. dbaysinger@daleville.k12.in.us
  11. He's not, but I'm clinging to my .000001% chance at hope. Heard he's getting $500k to go to Ohio State, and I assume he has a similar offer from Penn St. By all accounts I've heard, he likes Purdue, would like to wrestle with his brother, but the big schools and big NIL are going to be too much. In this day and age, it's going to be nearly impossible for schools like Purdue and IU to get blue chip recruits. The only hope they have to get studs is to find diamonds in the rough, develop them, and hope they don't run off to a big school once the NIL starts getting tossed around.
  12. I imagine because of coaching a lot of schools would need to run practices together.

  15. I really don't see Marcus Blaze heading to WL. He barely remembered he did the Purdue visit when he's talking top schools (near the end):
  16. Track teams and cross country teams are allowed to practice co-ed. Imagine they’d also let wrestling.
  17. Anyone have video of Rickie Clark’s backflip after his match with Robert Samuels at state? Showed the match to some kids at practice and they didn’t believe that he hit a backflip but all the video I can find cuts off early.

  19. Will they be allowed to practice with the boys? Otherwise, that would cause bad logistic problems.
  20. Are the girls still allowed to participate in with “boys” now still or will they no longer be allowed to since they now have an “equivalent” sport … like basketball, etc.?
  21. In an 18-0 decision the IHSAA has moved forward with fully sanctioning girls wrestling as a varsity sport in Indiana. The sport was officially approved this afternoon after running as a separate event under the IHSGW since 2017 and two years under the IHSAA's Emerging Sport status. Indiana has been a training ground for many of the top women's wrestlers in the country with Olympians Sarah Hildebrandt and Kayla Miracle leading the way. Indiana has a strong tradition in women's wrestling and as a fully sanctioned sport it will continue to produce wrestlers with national and world level success. View full article

  23. I don't agree with the conclusion either. But for the poster earlier, who liked the takedown and reversal being 2 points I think that is the most reasonable argument for it.
