2020 Wrestling Rankings per Sectional, Regional, SS.xlsx

There are going to be at least 18 wrestlers who are ranked in the Top 16 losing at the NCSS.  That is not including any upsets, which I am sure will occur, so you can probably count on 20+ ranked wrestlers going home disappointed.  I believe 12 out of the 14 weights have at least 5 kids ranked...good luck to all.

I am sure upsets will occur, and I picked a few, but there is a great chance 9 or 10 Final matches will pit two state ranked wrestlers against each other.

81 ranked kids probably could have been 95-100, splitting hairs when you get to 17-25.

Impressive #'s for sure, and there are probably a handful of wrestlers that are on the cusp of being ranked.  A few that come to mind are Toole (Lebanon), Bond (Sheridan), and your guy Thrine (New Castle).  The ranking guys have a difficult task, but based purely on the #'s this has the makings of the toughest semi-state I have witnessed in the last 10 years for overall depth.

New column on my spreadsheet -- how many wrestlers are ranked in their respective semi-state from each sectional.  That is a good indication of the depth/strength of the sectional.  I have completed the ECSS (they have finalized their rankings):

    Crown Point -- 26
    LaPorte -- 20
    Mishawaka -- 20
    Plymouth -- 12

The event will take place March 14th, at Fitzgerald Fieldhouse on the University of Pittsburgh campus.  The dual meet will not have the 106-113-or heavyweight division.  Rather....it will be 120-220, and have 2 matches at 138 & 195.  Silas (#2 via Flo) will be squaring off against PA State Champ and Michigan commit Gage Garcia #3.
Tremendous honor for Silas to be selected and represent Shenandoah High School, CIA Wrestling, Indiana Wrestling, as well as his future Nebraska Cornhuskers at this prestigious event.

Indysportsfan got a reaction from backtothemat in Biggest sleepers in every weight class?
FWSS is no picnic at 120 with Teusch, Boots, Robinson, Puckett and Heath.  Personally I don't see a 'right draw' at 120, that weight is brutal with 12 returning State Qualifiers.

I don’t believe any wrestler that is in our state truly has a choice whether they can seek out top level national competition or only wrestle in their back yard.....in season. Understandably you can seek out whoever you want to wrestle in the offseason, but in season they are at the mercy of their coaches and AD’s. And if someone beats everyone that’s put in front of them, whether it’s back yard or not, thats great, and only a handful of people in the state do it every year.

As as far as the post on Jordy Fulks, Boonville has wrestled local teams (pretty much every southwestern indiana team in PAC, Big 8, and SIAC, I believe except Gibson southern, forest park, and Mater Dei), and also wrestled Union County, KY.
