As you are preparing for regionals this week, good luck to every wrestler still competing. Congrats on your sectional success and to all the wrestlers that didn't make it through sectionals, Congrats on your great season, keep training hard for next year. As you wrestlers are training for regionals, you all have different goals, but at the end of the day, you all have the same opportunity to achieve an amazing thing. Top four at regional advancing to semi state. Keep in mind when you are training and competing how many would trade you to take your place, how many want the opportunity you have. Even if you don't finish this season where you wanted to or even if you do, win with dignity, and loose with humanity, i heard that saying from a snider fan the other day. Its a great saying to listen to. Not everyone gets to wrestle varsity, not everyone makes it out of sectionals, and some never get the opportunity to wrestle at the bank. That doesn't take away from the hard work and dedication they put into the sport. If you are competing this weekend good luck, Fly the W, and be proud. Not many get the opportunity. Its the greatest sport known to man and woman, the most grueling of them all, be proud to wrestle this weekend and thank your parents, coaches, teammates, and anyone else who has supported you and pushed you and made you better. Stay safe and healthy, wrestle tough, its anyones match on saturday morning.

I predict that 160 will be the most competitive weight.  132 may be a shocker. I also predict a little guy who resides in Iowa will make his presence known.

Who cares if they made a thread..good for these wrestlers...it makes me laugh that you took time to put this thread down...if it's a waste of time then why are wasting time posting in this thread..this is a wrestling site so idk what your deal is...most parent, coaches and wrestlers wouldn't take time to talk smack either..you're entitled to your opinion but 102-9 is pretty damn impressive...I guess being proud is wrong now...

    elhampion,

Maybe you were a 4timer in high school and won the NCAA, but I doubt it. Most of those guys don't talk trash. Nick went to state 3 times in high school. Placed 4th and 3rd. Was ranked 12 in the country his senior year and a team captain his senior year on a state runner-up team. Then, he went on and started 4 years DII on a team that I believe took 3rd the country. Didn't win a D1 National Title like you must have, but a pretty good career...and he is an even better coach. Yes, he coaches Brayton Lee, but we have had some other successes with the program the last few years. Nick has been an absolutely huge part of it since day one. I'm sure we don't compare to your individual accolades or program, but we are doing the best we can with a program that was the joke of our area just a few years ago. Are you available for a clinic? Let me know your name and number so we can get you in the room. Seems like we could learn a lot from you.

I don't have a child that attends RWA but can tell you it's easy to see those who attend in our wrestling room. Like anything it may not be for everyone, but the old saying, iron sharpens iron definitely applies. Our middle school program has little to offer the elite kids, and they get quality instruction, with better partners at RWA. Portage and Merrillville are two Region programs that develop from within, which is great, especially when you factor the cost of RWA. RWA is a luxury that kids from the Region and neighboring states and cities benefit from greatly.

I think it is obvious that RWA does a great job, their success speaks for itself. But there are a lot of other coaches who do a great job also. Portage did a great job at ihswca and did it with out 3 ranked(at one point) wrestlers. I don't think the region is down. It is just what it has always been a lot of tough individuals with a couple tough complete teams.

Believe it or not, there's a lot of good wrestlers being produced in the Region that don't attend RWA.  A pair of 2x State Champions and a 2x Runner-Up last year were not RWA kids (Covaciu, Streck, and Bam Lawrence).  The Chesterton crew also primarily does their own thing and only supplements with RWA.  Rumph, the Morans, and DeLaPena are not RWA kids.  A lot of good coaches and good wrestlers being developed in the Region outside of Calumet Township.
