The room was rocking last night, over 40 total kids with 6 different schools represented.  Coach Runyan ran a great workout in preparation for ISWA state, thanks a million coach. 
 
Next week we will have Joey Butler for the freestyle kickoff night.  Indiana state champ and currently wrestling for the Hoosiers.

I understand the extension of the qualifiers and completely understand if a kid was injured or had a something personal going on. Unfortunately neither of these is the case in this situation. I was told since the kid was a good wrestler and his coach and team volunteered to help set up an exemption was made. I in no way blame the kid he was given a free pass and took it…good for him. But the rules are there for a reason and exceptions are going to be made then there needs to be some fine print added.

However, Martinsville sends 8 to Regionals with 5 underclassmen. Then 4 to semi-state with 2 underclassmen. 
 
I believe the Mooresville sectional would have the "Crowdedness" factor. 31 of the 56 Semi-state Qualifiers come from the Mooresville sectional compared to the Avon sectional.

After figuring , I believe Briar Runyan was 10-2. Going 3rd, 2nd & 1st.  

Love this tournament.  You will probably see some wrestlers not place at this tournament but qualify for state. It happened to one of my guys a couple years ago and has happened to several other wrestlers over the years. Speaks volumes about the level of competition.

Cayden Whitaker of Martinsville placed 5th at 184

Whitaker is very good. He will be tough to beat. 

Academies are great, trust me I know. You get fantastic partners out of them I wrestled for CIA and me and all my drill partners won IHSAA state, but the only reason I wrestled in it is because my local club was non existent.... if you have a good or decent club, wrestle for them while they are holding practices you can always go to the Academies as well. I coach my high school and club now and the wrestlers who go else where don't even associate with our other kids, it harms them both in my opinion. If your club isn't at the level you want it to be, ask how you can help, parents are a huge part and influence to any good club... your son or daughter can still be a great wrestler by wrestling with thier respective club, as well as Academies.

Whitaker is up 3-1 on vanhorn in thier series this year, has also beaten Mappes x2, Farmer 2x, Majored Dominic Herrick, beaten Cole Chandler, beat #1 @145 Brad Laughlin. He most definitely has an inflated record..... don't be surprised to see him under the lights with Covaciu!

152 Connor Dean of Martinsville got the draw he was looking for, watch for a good ticket round match between him and Lehman from EMD.
 
170 Ethan Runyan injury defaulted out to 4th look for a good match against Owens of Pike Central and a 4 over 1, which sets up a match with Thomas Dull of THN who has lost the last 2 against hendrich, last time Runyan and Hendrich wrestled it was 5-1 Runyan. I may be a little biased here but go little brother!!!
 
The ARTESIANS brings 5 to Evansville possibly brings out 4.
