This is a terrific piece of research but to show my bias: Little old Adams County has the #2 & #10 programs with Bellmont and Adams Central. South Adams has been gaining ground. We like to think we are the number one wrestling county in the State.

Pretty neat list of wins by program throughout the history of the world.... and basically what has been submitted to me.

I think they should each get half credit for the wins and full credit for the losses.

While I don't personally speak for Evan, I can say without hesitation that his decision to change weight classes was an unselfish one in order to effectively give an opportunity for Friday Night glory to a fellow teammate.  Evan has never ran away from tough competition.  From the time Evan was little, his father was constantly seeking tougher tournaments in order to challenge his son. Evan wanted a chance to wrestle Silas, and in fact knew that moving to 220 would appear as a sign of weakness.  I'm sure the decision weighed heavy on his mind, because deep down he knew how this might possibly be viewed.  However, he did what he felt was best for his teammate and regardless of how anyone else sees it, those of us who have watched him grow in this sport know that his sacrifice for his teammate is more important to him than anyone's opinions on a chat board.

I’ve avoided dialogue regarding Silas vs Bates all year.  For obvious reasons on one hand as Silas’ father, but also due to privileged information regarding weight changes, and the initial facilitation of this “should have been” match up.
I could allow pride to take over and list countless examples of top 10 Nationally ranked young men from 182-220 that Silas has pinned or tech’d. Including some Bates was unfortunately on the losing end to.  And I say “unfortunately” GENUINELY.  Because despite how I know this match up would go.....we genuinely root for Evan on the National scene.  We want Evan to continue growing his skill-set, smash opposing nationally ranked wrestlers, and continue growing the reputation of our very underrated State’s wrestling rep.

That said.....I’ll only divulge this bit of information.  Silas trended down nearly 30lbs prior to BMI’s to make this match happen. We were told by reputable sources that Bates was going to stay at 195lbs and challenge himself.  We admired that attribute....and were more than willing to give him opportunity.  Regardless of Silas’ initial plan to wrestle a VERY comfortable 220lbs prior to leaving for Lincoln in June.
The weight class jump wasn’t solidified until after the first of the year.  Now.....opinions are just that.....”opinions”. And everyone is entitled to their own.   But those closest to the initial facilitation of this match know the truth.  And that’s what matters most.

We appreciate the statewide support for Silas, and fully respect the opinions of those who support, and are fans of Evan. It’s great for the sport.  We wholeheartedly regret this match isn’t going to happen this year, but will very much look forward to a potential Fargo match-up.
We wish Evan and the Chesterton team nothing but good health, and success moving forward.  And hope they collectively enjoy the ride in pursuit of their goals. -The Allred’s

Plenty of other talented and driven 195 and 220lbs young men for Silas & Evan to focus on as we speak.

Here's what I think (this may be a bit early but oh well)

106 is between a handful of people, but Goin, Miller, and Chundi seem like the three that could do it, although it wouldn't surprise me to see Ruble in that mix as well.
113 seems like Cottey's weight class this year, and while there are a few wrestlers that could and will challenge him, Cottey has been state-runner up for two years in a row and I think he's hungrier than ever to make it happen.
120 is a lock, I don't see anybody beating Seltzer right now.
126 is crazy, there are so many people that could take this weight class, many of them coming out of the same semi-state.
132 is another lock, Mendez might not wrestle a full six minute match at Banker's Life this year.
138 is another wide open weight class, with a handful of contenders.
145 will come down to Viduya or Ellis, and that match could go either way.
152 isn't necessarily a lock but Coleman has been impressive this year, although he hasn't wrestled everybody at 152 yet this year that could give him some trouble.
160 will either be Rodgers, Dickens, Levitz, or Noehre. Dickens beat Rodgers 9-3 this year, which is very impressive, so I think he might be the frontrunner in this weight class right now.
170 looks like a run for 2nd place, as Calhoun has won with bonus points against everybody he's wrestled except for Simpson of Hobart, which was still an 8-2 match. However, the other man under the lights is a complete mystery, and this may be a bold statement, but I think there are around 7 other guys in this weight class that could claim that runner up spot.
182 might be a lock for Walker, in my opinion. Warren and Parkinson looked like the other two guys that could challenge him this year, but Walker wrestled them both and beat them pretty convincingly.
195 is looking like Allred's weight class, especially with Bates at 220, but I wouldn't count LaPlace out. Last time LaPlace and Walker met in a tournament, LaPlace actually won, so LaPlace can hang with the best in the nation. He's not my pick at 195, but it will be a lot closer than many may expect.
220 is looking like Bates's weight class, although Bates is giving up some weight and there are some very tough 220's that could give Bates a run for his money.
285 is going to come down to Keys and Irick, and that match will be very close (it was only 1-0 when they met this year) however, Keys likes to keep his matches close and it wouldn't surprise me if somebody upset him on his way to the state finals match.

So pretty much, 120, 132, 170, 182, and 195 are looking like locks, while 113, 220, and 285 are iffy. 106, 126, 138, and 160 are wide open, in my opinion.

To clarify, the ticket round match depends on the draw correct?  I'd love to see all three get to the semifinal because I believe all could easily place at State.

To quote an old boxing saying "Styles make fights" I think that applies here.  Sollars has beaten Ruhlman 2 of 3 times and the last two, including in the Ticket Round last year.  Ruhlman beat Deters this year and Deters has beaten Sollars 3 times, twice this year.

Can Sollars break through against Deters?  If not, can Deters solve Ruhlman?

Actually was just talking to Jimmy about this. I corralled his team stats while at Perry Meridian - he was 440-38. He also shared with me the following information (to the best of his knowledge):

Connersville: 32-21 Tri-West: 15-18 Perry Meridian: 440-38  Warren Central: Around 70 wins Franklin: to be continued...
I know that Joe will want cold hard evidence, but without WC and Franklin the man is 487-77. He isn't too bad at this coaching thing.

Anyone who has ever been around John and has witnessed his dedication, work ethic, and class would agree that first and foremost he is the "product" of a great and supportive family.  He has made good choices by surrounding himself with great folks that can help him (none better than MCWC) but that's what successful people do.

Boonville product is a bit of a stretch on Purdy. He wrestled the youth travel league 3 years(?). He wrestled for Castle all 3 middle school years. He’s been at MCWC since he was 5/6, I’d say he’s a product of Maurer and Coughlin.

Yeah they are both boonville products but Purdy went before Sutton
