I’m excited about the changes.  What can I say I love green and gold or yellow. I get both.  My former Capo and his Zebra’s will not be missed: no offense.  Get them up outta here.  Now all I have to contend with is Jay County and Delta.  We lost some guys so I wasn’t very optimistic until this was announced.  I’m not saying we are winning Semi-State: but with Rochester gone we should be a wrung higher on the ladder. 

Of course they ship out one of Fort Wayne’s best teams 😠

I got over forcing a kid to go down a good decade ago, “because they have to learn to get out.”Yes they have to learn to get out and for the most part a practice room is the place to do it. There are some kids that are super tough on top. Especially at National Duals and if you choose down and you aren’t good at getting out you are just asking to get turned. Plus when coaching a team that you aren’t familiar with all the kids strengths and weaknesses asking the kid or their parent what they prefer really helps build the relationship and gives the wrestler confidence he may need to win the match.

Veazy is a great guy. I hope he plays football, I would think Snider would probably be your 5A champs this year. 

I have nothing to add to this discussion as an argument either way- I will say that he's a great kid from a great family who outworks 99.9% of his competition.  He has earned everything he has achieved, and I look forward to his continued success.  Also one of the most respectful young men you will find.

It is more than just "seems like a logical take". It is a logical take.
 
Veazy is a very impressive wrestler, but he has yet to win a HS State title. That should count for something when doing these rankings.
 
Also, you say he is an Olympic prospect & is dominating top 5 competitors in the country. Now I'm assuming he would be an 86 kg prospect. So he is dominating David Taylor, Aaron Brooks, Zahid Valencia, Trent Hidlay & Mark Hall? Those will likely be the top 5 prospects at 86 kg for the 2024 Olympic team.

Agree with Tyson. I don't think National Ranking should be the only indicator, but it should be a good indicator for sure. I hope he gets invited to Ironman along with our other key individuals who don't go to CP or BB, to help them get more recognition.

Think it depends on whether we value out of state or in state results more. There are six returning state champs this year, and it seems a little odd to put someone that hasn't won a title yet (although both of his state brackets have been quite difficult) over six state champs. I think that Veazy has a case to be over some of these guys, but for the time being, I think Hockaday or Will Clark owns the top spot.

Respectfully disagree (except on wearing jeans to coach), keep the state tournament pure, 1 real state champion per weight class.

No codes and tickets go on sale in 45 mins. Please encourage all ADs to be honest and not politically correct during the zoom with IHSAA. Whoever is in charge of all of this is clearly is in over their head and needs to allow someone else to do the needed research and make policy. Without being brutally honest to the powers to be, it won’t get better.

I just posted what I believe. You're the only coach who has had a fit because I didn't give any credit to one of his wrestlers, Ethan Smith. That's sad. I'll tell you what, if Ethan, Levi, or Matt make it out and prove one of my predictons wrong, then congrats, your 38 years at this has helped you prove a scrub wrong on the internet, you'll be the most powerful man in coliseum.
 
Either way, I'll be happy for anyone who makes it out, and I'll be smilin and wavin the whole time.

There is no reason why the IHSAA shouldn't at least release the formula. Can possibly see trackwrestling not be available yet. Heck, streaming still shows as TBA for semi-state.  SMH, IHSAA flailing once again...
