Holden reacted to FCFIGHTER170 in 2021 Head Coaching Changes *Updated 10/28*
Ben Davis would be crazy if they don't hire Quinn Harris as their head coach, young or not, he's wise and mature beyond his years and is a huge part of why BD has churned out studs and the culture is changing in that room.. I know for a fact he is dedicated as if he is already the HC! He's got his guys training in the off season and going to tough tournaments year round... we all know ppl aren't beating down the door for HC jobs in this sport so when you got a great young man like Quinn as devoted as he is, you better not let him slip away cuz I would vouch for any and every time.. He's tired of his boys being looked at like light work for opposition and is def got them heading in the right direction.. Give him 5 years and it'll be a whole new level in that room.

I think Nick Hull and Scott Hines wrestled each other 7 times in 95/96. Nick won all of them, but the scores kept getting closer.

Leroy Vega vs Greg Schaefer met 3 years in a row on Saturday. 1995 freshman Schaefer wins in semis, 1996 Vega hip toss in final seconds to win in the quarters. 1997 Vega wins in title match. Schaefer wins as freshman and again as a senior. Vega wins his final 2 years. They would go on to wrestle each other in college and sit in opposite corners as coaches. Two of Indiana's best! If someone has a video of any of these matches please post!

How about McGill vs Cosgrove? I doubt anyone wrestled 7x in the same season.

Holden reacted to TheCountyKid in Great sportsmanship at the state finals
Just came across this picture of Montgomery from Brownsburg talking to Heath from Leo after their match. I know a lot of these guys who wrestle each other are practicing together all the time and it’s amazing to see how much they respect each other. Does anyone else have any pictures or examples of instances like this?

Holden reacted to Wrestling Scholar in Varsity - Multisport?
Are the rodeo guys really tough on top? I always figured if you ride a Bull or Bronco, that riding a guy in wrestling would be quite a bit easier. Thats awsome to see. I think to succeed in wrestling today, the wrestling coach needs an alliance with the Football coach. Looks like you guys have that.

Holden reacted to JAlexander in Jesse Mendez
So me being the mother of one of his opponents of course I'm going to root for my kid.. But I would just like to say Jesse is an amazing wrestler and even better individual..
Jace did not finish his high school career quite like he wanted do to an injury he couldn't control happened and Jesse by no means had to reach out to him but he did. Jesse I don't know if you will see this but I would like to thank you and congratulate you on your 3rd 1st place finish! We love watching you wrestle and wish you the best in the future!

Ed was truly a great one. He was as genuine a person as you would ever meet. I had a great deal of respect for him as a coach and a man. I will miss seeing him.

Ed was the man plain and simple. We were lucky to have a man like Ed in our program, and I am blessed to have learned so much about this sport and life from him.

Everyone who knew Ed lost a great friend today. So many great times together. Will never forget our whitewater rafting trip. He loved working with Josh and his Greenfield Central Cougars. Rest in Peace, my friend.

Holden got a reaction from RASSLER4LIFE in Ed Hamant
It is with a very heavy heart that I announce the passing of my great friend and assistant coach Ed Hamant. Ed coached at Greenfield for 40 years. His impact on our program and community is immeasurable. He coached his ass off. He kept all of our stats. He maintained our record boards, wall of champions, and our hall-of-fame. He wrestled every day (even though he is the oldest person on the planet I think). And he loved GC wrestling.

Holden reacted to maligned in Team State 2021 Qualification Leaderboards (Final)
Good question. We posted this on a couple of threads about the changes to procedures this year. There are 2 ways you could still be considered:
1. The final spot in all classes will be chosen next year around the 20th of December once we can see how lineups are really shaking out. We'll simply be choosing who we think the best team is at that point from among all teams, whether you had a great qualifying score or not.
2. I'm really sorry I haven't published it yet, but we're going to post an online doc that will let you put information in if you can show with genuine data that covid probably prevented you from being within 5 points of the first two available candidates in the voting for the next-to-last Wildcard spot that will happen in April. We would then consider you as a full vote-in candidate for that next-to-last spot. The two pieces of data we would accept would be a) in-season head-to-head results or same-tournament higher placement than a kid who advanced further than your covid-affected kid, or b) last-season advancement level of your affected kid if head-to-heads aren't available.
(In Greenfield's case, a lot of it should be fairly straightforward to prove since you were already slotted in a regional bracket and know very well how your results would have compared to the guys who got out of your regional from your sectional and who get out of semi-state this weekend from your regional.)
