Caleb Spires got a reaction from Greg Ratliff in Most wide open weight 144?
Welp. I almost refuted this by saying “are you sure, I remember New Prairie there my freshman year?”
Then I remembered my freshman year was 13 years ago. 😭😭😭

Caleb Spires reacted to Skyler Hall in Al Smith vs MD Classic prediction
The real question is how come Al Smith can have wrestlebacks for true 3rd but our state tournament can’t?

Caleb Spires reacted to navy80 in Al Smith vs MD Classic prediction
In my simulation of the dual, Hawkins and Penola went out to eat the night before and had Asian food that made them sick Saturday morning. So they weren’t at full strength and therefore, lost their matches lol

Caleb Spires reacted to ontherise219 in P4P?
Jesse and Zeke had more prestige
but I bet all eyes will be on that Mat like when Bam Lawrence bumped to wrestle Joe Lee at team state

Caleb Spires got a reaction from Tcarter in Congratulations Jendreas and Courtney!
For anyone still curious on how brutal the Al Smith is, there have been six 4x state champions between Randy Baker and Drew Hughes’ Al Smith runs. Twice as many 4x state finals winners as there have been Al Smith champions in that time, and would still have a two wrestler advantage if Jesse hadn’t missed his sophomore year due to COVID.

Caleb Spires reacted to The Professor Morgan in 2023 Al Smith Predictions and Analysis
Rankings have no bearing on seeding. Seeding is based on different criteria such as returning state qualifier/placer, returning Al Smith placer, head to head, common opponents etc.

The great thing about seeding is that after the meeting the kids get to actually wrestle it out. It's a weird concept to some who think that the seeding meeting determines placement, but it's actually winning on the mat that does that.

I like you calling out and interrogating ontherise by @ as if he was in charge of seeding.

My apologies, I misread your intent and can see what you meant now.

Caleb Spires got a reaction from GrecoSupreme in Best Wrestler You’ve Ever Seen
Senior Jason Tsirtsis and Mason Parris were a sight to behold watching them tear through their state finals brackets.
Best I’ve personally wrestled is hands down Mark Hall. Didn’t know somebody my own weight could absolutely manhandle me like that at maybe 3% max effort. Absolute grown man strength as a (redshirt) freshman.

Caleb Spires got a reaction from HCman in Best to have never won it?
I think I’m officially on the Brandon James train now, on account of I recently remembered him beating Chad Red at FloNationals after his junior season.
Two IHSAA weight classes separating them or not, they were in the same bracket that day, and James was(I’m pretty sure) the only Indiana wrestler to beat Red offseason during his four years in high school.
I’ve also still never seen Gainsbridge get as loud as they did when Joe Lee reversed James to his back. He was considered a top lock that season, and losing that weekend was viewed as nearly unfathomable.

I meant to edit after the fact and include them! Another small school making big waves this year. Their freshman and sophomore classes right now are tough.

to piggy back off this, ft Wayne now hosting kids nationals, central regionals, and IHPO also brings high levels of competition to our kids back yard allowing them to see what they are up against down the road

Caleb Spires got a reaction from manchwrestlingdad in Fort Wayne Semi-State
I’m a bit of an outsider looking in(I’m a ranker but not a coach), but as unbiased as I can attempt to be, the semi-state has been on a clear rise over the last few seasons. It doesn’t help much that there’s seemingly a lot of smaller class schools in the Ft. Wayne semi-state. Delta, Jay County, Adams Central, Bellmont, Western have been tough battles for nearly any team in recent years, but a lot of schools are coming out this season or last. Cowan, Homestead, Snider, North Miami among others are now littered with kids that will give your stud a brutal match-up. Yorktown is back in the rise after a brief down period. And best of all, freshman classes just keep getting more talented. The current coaching in the Wayne looks pretty dang good to me.
