Jayruss reacted to maligned in The Undefeateds
None from this list come from the Big 3 nationally recognized teams and only two from this list come from a statewide duals Top 10 ranked team. The schedules teams are facing now are so brutal.

Jayruss reacted to awill0352 in Evansville Central Sectional vs Southridge
How Floyd Central isn't in the Jeffersonville sectional is beyond me

Jayruss reacted to randalllynch in Evansville Central Sectional vs Southridge
The movement of Floyd, Tell City, and New Albany into the sectional with Jasper and Southridge has made it a pretty tough day.

Jayruss reacted to SIACfan in Evansville Central Sectional vs Southridge
There is a thread that explains why.
It is titled "SIAC decline..."

Jayruss reacted to HWTDAD in Most wide open weight 144?
LOL! I am sure Reynolds or Courtney will have something to say about that.

Jayruss reacted to Dafar in Most wide open weight 144?
Hmmmm after reviewing and listening about the Al Smith, I have to go with the turntable 175 class. You have a good mix of kids that I have been around and watch grow up over the last 10 years (and a few movebacks) alongside my older kids. I honestly think of about 12 kids could take it, but will depend on who wants it most in the end. Disclaimer: I do have skin in the game in this class

Jayruss reacted to blueandgold in Programs with Most Depth at a Single Weight
Which program seems to consistently produce qualifiers, medalists, and/or state champions at a particular weight class? I would have to think Evansville Mater Dei at 132/130, right?
EMD at 132/130
Chad Martin (1999) - All-State, 5th Place Blake Maurer (2001) - State Champion Craig Weinzapfel (2002) - All-State, 3rd Place Matt Coughlin (2003) - State Finalist Drew Lappe (2006) - All State, 3rd Place Jerry Parkinson (2007) - All-State, 8th Place Branson Schroeder (2012) - State Qualifier Blake Jourdan (2014) - State Qualifier Nick Lee (2015-16) - 2015 State Champion, 2× Finalist Kyle Luigs (2017) - All-State, 4th Place Eli Dickens (2018) - State Qualifier Clay Egli (2019) - State Qualifier Kane Egli (2020) - All-State, 4th Place Alec Freeman (2021) - State Finalist

Jayruss reacted to awill0352 in SIAC Non-Preview, Observations and Questions
Castle started with 30 wrestlers. Through attrition and injuries they are down to 16-17. They had a skin issue outbreak and I believe were forfeiting 4-5 weights today. Bad timing for conference week.

Jayruss reacted to hook and half in SIAC Non-Preview, Observations and Questions
What a dogfight for second! Really impressed with the Huskies. North is the second-largest school in SW Indiana. If they can keep their coach and build a feeder, they will be a powerhouse! North had a few dual meet losses. They will be strong--at minimum--in the sectional and regional.
Any insight with with Central, Memorial and Castle?

New Prairie’s 144 pounder, Jeffrey Huyvaert. The previous record was 336 set by Yorktown’s Ben Milius in 2003.

Jayruss reacted to jshep86 in CP and B-burg depth
Cp v2 would have prob 4-6 or more that would have possibility of qualifying for state and placing that are all young underclassmen. Depth in the room is what makes programs really click and then when the bell rings they are ready to answer. I am sure Brownsburg has several as well. I don't think cp v2 has lost yet if not mistaken. They are really good!
Programs like st paris Graham for years had freshman and sophomores not start and then win state titles Jr and sr years from developing with the upper classmen.

Jayruss reacted to mdcats1 in SIAC decline…
I do see a decline this year as well. After looking at all the rosters, there are only 2 teams that have 4 seniors on them. All the other schools have less than 4. Maybe this has an impact on why we think there is a decline?

Jayruss reacted to NavyGonzo in All time Semi State (or recent memory)
After doing only about 20 minutes of digging back to 1999, the two seasons of "Most State Champions by a Semi-State" I can find are 2006 and 2012
Both seasons had ECSS with 8 individual Champions
Same Semi-State has 7 champs in 2004

Jayruss reacted to OldTimeWrestler in 144 is a nightmare
Funny to call a lock on a wrestler who lost to the top ranked wrestler at the current weight.
I’d say you have biased that isn’t aware of the current weight results.
A. Courtney beat Huyvaert head to head. Courtney this year has proven the ability to win EVERY close match.
B. Reynolds has beat Courtney. And beat him handily. 11-4. May be the most dangerous wrestler in the state series. Nobody, and I mean nobody can score like him on top.
C. Arberry. May be the most defensive wrestler in the class. Nobody can match his athleticism. He wrestles on the edge and dares officials to call stalling.
D. Doster & Walker say hello. Nothing is given.
You may want to have a locksmith on standby. Huyvaert can and may win 144, but to call him a lock, you show your lack of understanding of the class.
