Where are these brackets at? I thought they weren’t released until tomorrow?

Jayruss reacted to ReformedPoster in Can Indiana ever contest for a big ten title?
Results won't come without elite recruits. I'm sorry, but while the effort in matches has improved since Goldman, I haven't really seen the talent in the room improve. There are so many Indiana HS studs in the room, but they haven't developed as quickly as other schools develop their kids.

Jayruss reacted to SIACfan in Can Indiana ever contest for a big ten title?
There has never been a time when IU was producing NCAA Champs every year or two. They use to have AA's every year or two, but the last AA they had was 2017 (Nathan Jackson).
The gap between the haves & the have-nots has been increasing for a decade now, and with the transfer portal it is only getting worse.

Jayruss reacted to Thor in Can Indiana ever contest for a big ten title?
Neither IU or Purdue will ever challenge for a team title under the current structure. The haves and have nots gap is as wide as it's ever been and is not closing any time soon. Penn State has guys sitting on the bench for multiple years that would be immediate AA contenders at an Indiana school. It's insane how a few schools in the country stockpile so much talent. IU or Purdue will never get close to that.

Hate it for the fans, like me. I know ducking is “in” now but it is hard thing to debate not knowing facts of these matters. Wrestling is a contact sport. So many minor things can blossom into something that will get worse before it gets better and if you keep aggravating it you’ll never heal enough to be at peak. A tight rope to walk for athletes and coaches.

Fireworks in Paradise!
No respect afforded for fourth-ranked Brady Byrd’s undefeated record by Mater Dei Sophomore, David Aldstadt. Altstadt scored a second period escape and takedown that held up for a 4-2 win. This win (and loss) could have serious implications for the semi state draw.
Not to be outdone, Boonville’s Wyatt Ulrey scored the second-biggest upset of the day with a 10-3 decision of MD’s Caleb Schaefer.
Yet another freshman—Gibson Southern’s Deacon Dressler—took top honors in the balanced 144-pound division.
Highly anticipated was the 150-pound bracket. The top of the board produced a semifinal where Heritage Hills’ Alex Smith pinned North’s Cale Bonenberger for the right to face MD’s Tyler Vanover at the center mat. Smith drew first blood; Vanover got a second period turn for the fall.
At 157, Mt. Vernon’s Colton Schneider reversed his fortunes from the sectional, scoring a second period fall over North’s Peyton Bell.
Who respected 175-pound Boonville freshman Sam Howard’s 48-0 record? I am quite sure Howard had his doubters, but at the end of the day, the Pioneer was at the top of the podium. Three more years of this guy!
Heritage Hills ended their regional on a happy note. The final three weight classes were claimed by Patriots Jett Goldsberry, Parker Hart, and Hayden Smith. The trio punctuated their championships with falls. If you are an HH fan there is more good news: two are Sophomores and one is a Junior.
Take Me Down to the Paradise Pin City*- Of the 112 matches, 70 ended in a fall. Those poor zebras have sore palms…
Ain’t got time to bleed- Mater Dei’s Ty Henderson must have scheduled an early date. The junior only spent 2:12 on the mat en route to his title. Training partner, Isaiah Schaefer, was not far behind him. The top-ranked Schaefer scored a fall and a pair of tech falls. Teammate Tyler Vanover joined Henderson’s club counting three falls and 4:12 on the Resilite. Colton Schnieder wants in! The MTV junior also chalked up three pins. Parker Hart and Hayden Smith rounded out the group of adject domination, each adding three falls to their respective records.
To quote my good friend, WrestleMan: “It was dominate.”
Dominate, indeed.
Sectional round-up- Bad day for the Castle sectional as only 20 will advance to the semi state. At the high end of the spectrum, the Castle sectional had a better day, claiming half of the available titles.
Teams- MD comes out on top with four champions while advancing 12 to semi state. Heritage Hills finishes second, with three gold medalists and advancing seven to the Ford Center.
RIP Carl “Apollo Creed” Weathers, one of the greatest nuanced semi-villain-turned-good-guys in cinematic history: "Stallion, we are born with a killer instinct that can't be turned off like a radio. We have to be right in the middle of the action because we are the warriors. Without some challenge, some war to fight, the warrior may as well be dead."
*Apologies to GNR

Jayruss reacted to Justin Ratliff in Evansville Central Sectional vs Southridge
As far as not getting looked at for the rankings, the south is not known for having much information. It's like the old Soviet iron curtain. Lots of tournaments but hardly any on trackwrestling. And not many results put into indianamat. Most of my info has to come from people I know from down there or the few tournaments that are available online.

Jayruss got a reaction from MUSKEEWRESTLER in Evansville Central Sectional vs Southridge
Not long ago the premier sectionals were Evansville Central and Evansville Castle no matter how many times they shuffled Reitz between the 2, but now the Southridge sectional has an argument of being better/tougher.
Top 5 teams:
1. EV MD
2. Floyd C
3. Tell City
4.,5. New Albany or Jasper.
Anyone have an idea on why the shift ?

Jayruss reacted to MattM in Biggest Regional Upsets
1999 The previous years 3rd place finisher Steve Minton (New Albany) defeated the previous years State Champ Robert Rossbottom (Jeffersonville) to win Regionals. Doesn't seem like a crazy upset until you factor in a couple of things.
One: Rossbottom had defeated Minton on several previous occasions and almost everyone outside of the New Albany faithful assumed it would happen again. And the bigger Two: This upset created the Rossbottom vs. Dan Jankowski (EMD) ticket-round match at Semi-State. For context, Jankowski was the returning state runner-up from the year prior. Making this match the poster child for semi-state wrestle-back for at least the quarter-finals.
Rossbottom defeated Jankowski at semi-state by a point and moved on to eventually becoming a two time state champion. Jankowski as a senior was done for his high school career and became one of the best to never win a state title. Steve Minton would go on to prove he was also as good as advertised by becoming state runner-up the week to Rossbottom.

Mooresville 113 is deep. 6 of 8 are semi state ranked. Most if not all could be making a trip to Evansville if they were in any other regional.
