maligned
I saw Alara Boyd is seeded 7th and Nick Lee is pre-seeded 11th in this weekend's "Senior Nationals"--which is really an Olympic Trials qualifier event that doesn't include the top dogs because they've already qualified for the trials. Both Boyd and Lee would need Top 5 finishes to get a Trials berth. Who else with an Indiana background will wrestle at this event?

maligned
Ramirez lost her first match before making a nice run through the consolation bracket and finishing with a 3-2 record with 12 girls left. Streck, Wilson, Moran, Lee, Boyd go today
maligned
Brackets haven't been released, so not sure what Nick Lee will have in potential R64 or R32 matches, but seeds are locked so we know as the #11 he gets #6 Jaydin Eierman in the round of 16. If he'd get the upset, he'd then have Olympian Frank Molinaro in the quarters and Jordan Oliver in the semi's. Talk about a big boy bracket! Wow! Boyd is the only other competitor from Indiana that's seeded. Her final seed ended up as a 7, so she'll have the very tough #2 Macey Kilty if she can get to the quarters. More detailed brackets for the 5 Indiana natives will be released this morning before wrestling starts. maligned
Shabaka Johns also entered at 74kg. He's got Pantaleo in the R32. Moran starts with some guy named Spencer Lee. Wilson gets 11 seed Evan Wick. Streck has a bye to the R16 vs 2 seed Bradley. #7 Boyd needs two wins to get to the 2 seed, 2019 Junior and U23 World silver Kilty. #11 Lee starts with unseeded Ethan Lizak
SWINfan
Lee takes out Lizak 10-0 then tops Eierman 10-6. The Eierman win is huge as Jaydin had handled him twice (that I know of) once in the OTT a few years ago and once in the NCAAs.
navy80
Nick Lee has Lazor ? next match. Lazor upset Frank Molinaro. If Lee wins he gets winner of Jordan Oliver/Bryce Merdith. Streck lost 0-5 to Dom Bradley. Johns went down 1-11 Moran lost 0-10 Alara Boyd wins 8-0 and 14-1 and faces #2 seed next.
maligned
Nick's win plus Lazor's upset means he's favored to reach the semifinals, where he'd have three shots at winning a match to place top 5 and earn a Trials bid. He's sitting in a GREAT spot compared to his pre-tournament outlook.
navy80
Lee 10-0 over Lazor. #11 Lee versus #2 Jordan Oliver for a trip to the finals. SWINfan
MattM
Lee did well fending off Oliver at first. But Oliver eventually got in on a TD and ran a series of laces to finish the match. If Lee can win his consol semis match he likely will face Yanni D. (Got semi-upset in semis) for 3rd.

My guess is he'll have to face Molinaro at that point.

maligned
To get the Trials bid, Nick needs to upset the Henderson/Molinaro winner to reach the 3rd place match or win the 5th place match, most likely against 7-seed former NCAA champ Meredith. navy80
maligned
Boyd needs to beat an unseeded girl and then would, similar to Lee, have two shots to upset girls seeded slightly higher than her. navy80
wrestlenewbie
Lee ragdolls Molinaro 10-0 in 1:25. And it wasn't that close. Two 4 point moves and a roll gets the job done. Then Diakamoholis injury forfeits out of the third place match. Lee qualifies for the Olympic Trials as an 11 seed. maligned
Great result for Lee. Probably sets himself up to get a 5 seed at the trials behind Retherford, Yianni, Oliver, and McKenna. More than that, the nice wins over Eierman and Molinaro signal he's taken further steps forward toward an elite level where he could genuinely compete for national team spots very soon. Also big news out of this tournament for Parris with the Cassar injury. Even if Cassar can recover mostly by Big 10s from yet another shoulder injury, Mason is probably the new favorite at the moment to win NCAAs. And Boyd should enter the last chance trials qualifier event as a favorite for one of the two spots available there. She's knocking on the door of the top tier for sure. Loses 7-4 to the 4th place girl and "only" 5-0 to Kilty, who took two age group world silvers last year (juniors and U23s) at higher weights.
