Ethics!!! Let the Ft Wayne Carroll Wrestler continue!!!!

There were several responses to the original post reference the 160 lb. match at the Fort Wayne Semi-state in which the Adam Central wrestler won via injury default over the Carroll wrestler after an illegal move was called against the Carroll wrestler, and he informed the official that he could not continue the match..  Some people blamed the referee, some people blamed the AC wrestler for taking a “dive”, some blamed the coach for not allowing the Carroll wrestler to win and go on, and there is even speculation whether the trainer said he could wrestle or not.  Before I go on, lets set one record straight…..The trainer NEVER said the AC wrestler could not continue that match.  That was researched and is FACT!

However, I think we should look at the real issue.  HOW WAS THIS STUDENT ATHLETE EVEN ELLIGIBLE TO WRESTLE THAT DAY?  There was an incident at Adam Central High School during the week of semi-state in which the 160 lb. wrestler was CAUGHT spray painting school property in the weight room.  This is FACT from a very reliable source at Adam Central.  According to the source, it was decided on Thursday, February 7th the 160 lb. wrestler was not going to be allowed to wrestle do to the vandalism offense.  At some point obliviously A DECISION WAS MADE TO allow him to participate.

According to my source this incident has been in question and the School’s response is “IT NEVER HAPPENED!”  I might expect that response and behavior from a student, maybe a lay coach, but the School’s Administration, I find it shocking and appalling to say the least!  Apparently some teachers from AC were appalled too, when they learned the wrestler was going to be allowed to participate.  It is my understanding according to the AC handbook ANY damage to school property that exceeds $100, the Law Enforcement SHALL BE CALLED.  I would like to know whether they were called or not.  Furthermore, it is my understanding that the parents of the 160 lb. wrestler have agreed to pay for the damaged property.  You know….the damaged school property that the school is denying is damaged.  What is wrong w/ this world!!!!  Teach our kids there is no consequence and then teach them to lie!

There is another victim in this sharade.  The 160 lb. Belmont wrestler who was the alternate that should have replaced the AC wrestler when committed the offense.

In conclusion, I think most ethical people will read this and think to themselves what should happen in this situation?  There’s a real simple answer!  The Carroll wrestler is the alternate and should replace the AC wrestler.  The AC administration should realize this student/athlete should NOT have been allowed to wrestle in the first place and this situation would have never taken place.  The Carroll wrestler is a good student and not a troublemaker.  He should be allowed to participate in the IHSAA State Finals that he has worked so hard for.

If you are going to write a letter like this, then have the courage to sign your name.  Not to mention this is your version of the story.

What has happened is done and over with. As stated on numerous other posts, it stinks for all kids involved. What is done is done. There isn't anything that can be done to fix the situation. Morals, ethics, and values? Yes, maybe they all should be re-evaluated by all involved, but decisions have been made.  Again, life isn't fair.......sorry that's just how it is.

Unusual name, "WrestlingTruth", to use to come on this site and use your first post to tell a lie. The AC kid was NOT caught spray painting the school. He and some other boys found and indoor shot and were throwing it, just being kids. They hit a wall in the school and put a hole in it.  The boys took responsibility for their actions and are paying for damages. It wasn't vandalism, it was kids being kids.  Now, let it die and let's enjoy state.

What we need is an ethics committee for this board to prevent people from making almost slanderous comments about high school kids,

Well said. I don't have a problem with someone posting their opinion but it should not be stated as fact if its not a first hand account.

What we need, are people that aren't SPINELESS!!! No way that kid should have won that match and moved on. The sentiment of all the fans at semi state made that very evident. BUT! Even if that kid "bull crapped" his way to a state appearance, whoever deserves the bad karma, will most certainly get the bad karma. I am a firm believer of what comes around goes around...

wow.......so many versions of this story.......where the heck did this guy come up with these FACTS?.......i think the ref of this match that made the call should get on here and tell exactly what happened......he has to have all of the "true" facts.......what a bunch of BS this whole thing has become.......and the sad part is that no matter what, the ihsaa isn't going to step in and somehow put the carroll kid back in......they have an easy stance of just saying that the ref has the final say and he made his call......
