jchas
Here is one just 2 get you guys talking. If you took the 8 ranked guys for each weight from each Semi-State. Matched them up against the same ranked wrestler from the other Semi-States. What Semi would win the most matches? In other words. 1's wrestle 1's, 2's wrestle 2's etc.

hdwork
how about a semistate team tournament semistates vs semistates all #1s make the team.
BlueBolt
I have often said taking the top 4 from each SS and forming 4 teams (all first on one, seconds on another, etc) and having a 16 tourney would be FANTASTIC! Sort of an All-Star Event.
Thornton
I would say that this year, the New Castle team would be the favorite: 106: Nathan Boston (LN) - ranked #1 - defending state champion 113: Brandon James (PM) - ranked #3 - undefeated (16-0) 120: Mason Todd (PH) - ranked #1 - defending state champion 126: Cody Phillips (UC) - ranked #2 - 2-time state champion 132: Jared McKinley (PM) - ranked #2 - defending state champion 138: Nick Bova (PM) - ranked #2 - 8th last year 145: Vinnie Corsaro (Cath) - ranked #5 - 6th last year 152: Conner Mullins (NC) - ranked #1 - 2nd last year 160: Kirk Johnson (PM) - ranked #1 - 4th last year 170: Tyler Willis (Cath) - ranked #1 - 3rd last year, 2nd in 2010 182: Lukas Schaeffer (WF) - ranked #2 - SQ last year 195: Mitch Sliga - ranked #1 - 3rd last 2 years 220: Levi Kenny (Cath) ranked #10 285: Wesley Bernard (Cath) ranked #6 Merrillville would also be very strong with 106: Steve Micic (HC) - ranked #2 - 3rd last year 113: Jared Brooks (Wa) - ranked #1 - 2nd last year 120: Paul Petrov (HC) - ranked #3 - 4th last year, 2nd in 2010 126: Kyle Ayersman (LC) - ranked #1 - 2-time state champion 132: Tommy Forte (Mish) - ranked #7 138: Mitch Hartman (SBC) - ranked #4 - 4th last year 145: Jason Tsirtsis (CP) - ranked #1 - 3-time state champion 152: Adrian Brown (LJ) - ranked #5 - SQ last year 160: Sidney Logan (Mish) - ranked #4 - SQ last year 170: Jeremy Crocker (Low) - ranked #4 - SQ last year 182: Tanner Lynde (Del) - ranked #1 - 3rd last year 195 - Courtnet Berry (Merr) - ranked #2 - 5th last year 220 - Tyler Kral (CP) - ranked #1 - 3rd last year 285 - Abraham Hall (Bre) - ranked #2 - SQ last year I think these 2 semi states are deeper than the other 2 and this would be one heck of a dual. New Castle would be solid favorites at 132, 152, 160, 171 and 195. Merrillville would be an overwhelming favorite at 145, solid favorites at 113, 182, 220 and 285. 106 and 120 lean toward New Castle with 126 leaning to Merrillville and 138 being a complete toss up. maolsen
that's funny if you havent seen micic wrestle since last year at state then maybe. Micic has been on a roll, not only did he give boston a great match last year, he became a fargo national champ and is ranked top 10in the nation in multiple rankings. So id say its not so funny. The big thing at 106 is how far down is each wrestler coming in weight? If Boston is coming down from, say, between 116 and 120 and Micic is coming down from 110, that would be a HUGE advantage for Boston.

But it doesnt matter, this will all be figured out at state. The real question is which semi state is truly the deepest. Lets take the 5th-8th guys and have them wrestle eachother! Smooth34
Merrillville would also be a big favorite at 113. No way James, as talented as he is, keeps it close with Brooks.

Big Hawaiian
I like Willis @170lbs by major points against Crocker, and as Thorton stated, Kenny wrestled well against Kral and threw him to his back and got back points in the match, but Kral returned the favor also. I think it was a 4pt match when they wrestled.....

Maybe ill be wrong, but I don't think James will be a 4x champ. Also, I think Brooks is on another level than James. The same couldn't have been said about Cashe and Jason. NCSS wins by a dozen at least. no way, the only two people you named i think get bonus points is willis and mullins tbh. With mckinley having a possibility. I think based of watching sliga last year berry could upset him. I definetly dont see todd getting bonus points on petrov, forte will shock you if you havent seen him yet this year. Just saying my thoughts.

fanatic46041
you've gone this far why not put up the other 2 semi-states.....i know, you'll have to look a little farther down the rankings to find some guys ;D but its only fair to compare.....when i wrestled, our school went to the Merrillville semi-state, but in 2000 we started going to New Castle....and i will have to say "New Castle is starting to pour it on in the last few years", but Merrillville is just such a meat grinder, in what can be the most hostile environment to wrestle in, as all the fans are so close to the mats, its awesome!!! if i had to choose where to go, my heart stays in Merrillville, you wont get a better Finals intro until the State Finals....just my opinion 8)
