  1. I expect we going to do it big in #TheCounty in November. It's at the burg. Dj two years ago. Both teams are really solid this year. Expect a huge show. What's in the cards coach??? Seymour bringing the petting zoo???
  2. Cameron Smith of Ben Davis has to be in the conversation. Two time state champ who went on to play football at Eastern Illinois. Dude was a freak! Smith had 2,312 rushing yards in one season (which is 26th all time in the history of Indiana). When Ben Davis was winning National titles.
  3. I wasn't trying to split hairs. Just bringing it up, due to the fact that the majority of the top wrestling schools in the state are 6a in football. So... the majority of top teams will be affected by having a bye week one. The bye week was moved from the week after semi-state to week one of playoffs this season (for 6a). Ben Davis and Brownsburg play Friday night. Would love to see the team from #TheCounty pull that one off. Should be a great game. I think Ben Davis is ranked 4th and Brownsburg 5th?
  4. No 6a teams have played yet. So.... not quite half.

  6. Man!!! Round of 32 was rough for our Indiana boys.
  7. Not that he needs it...... but..... good luck Jessie. This kid is a class act on and off the mat. I have had the honor of being on a coaching staff, with him on the team (multiple times). He is not only a hammer on the mat, he is a kid that can have a cool conversation, and is fun to be around. His parents are very supportive and great people. I truly believe that he has a great shot to be a four timer in Indiana (if he chooses to stay here). All of his success is well deserved. Oh.... I almost forgot...... #TheCounty
  8. Cobra is killing it with the guest coaches. Unreal exposure. Within the last year the who's who of college coaches have been in that room. Crazy!
  9. Nick and Beard were the best high schoolers for sure! Very impressive.
  10. Tie it all in together. Hold it on the magazine release date. Instead of a #1 and #2, make them 1a and 1b. Let them wrestle for the honor to be #1, then sell the mag at the event. Win, Win, Win!!! Who would pay good money to come and watch that? Who would buy the mag at this event???
  11. How bout an Indianamat preseason who's number one! For Indiana wrestlers. Could hold it in #TheCounty Who's number one was crazy good!
  12. Dang!!! Lose the gold medal and they just give your shoes away.

  14. That's true... Portage is scary good! Columbus east did great also. Two solid Avon wrestlers meeting in the round of 32 and going to Ultimate ride out was a tough one for me to watch (for personal reasons)! Indiana should be very proud. Our kids looked great, against the out of state kids.
  15. Congrats, to one of the very best kids that I have ever had the pleasure of being around. Gunnar is a born leader. Well deserved!!!!
  16. Thanks to Joe and his crew for a great tournament. Great to see multiple ISWA board members come up after the meeting. Also... nice to see ISWA board member Pat Culp up there helping to make this tournament a great success. Pat set up the night prior, went to the meeting in Indy, and came all the way back to help more. Pat doesn't get enough credit for what she does.
  17. Sounds like an awesome game! With this said.... If your free safety has to make 12 tackles.... They need to get better line backers and D linemen. Not taking away from the feat... Just saying.
  18. I think that compound is second to none in designing gear. They do all Reece's stuff. https://cmpteamwear.com/
  19. It's true!!!!! Team Garcia has transferred to North Put. We wish the Garcias good luck at their new school! Also... Good luck to Mr. Garcia for getting his first coaching job there! Hard to turn down $40,000 to be a coach and lunch lady..... I mean lunch person. #TheLunchLady
  20. Steve and stu would be proud if they are watching these Olympic matches!!! Geeez.... Bisek barely gets turned then his opponent circled with his elbows in for over 2 minutes!!!
  21. Ouch.... In recent years Center Grove has lost the Baileys, Stewarts, and Littel. If you add those studs to the handful of studs that they currently have, that would be a state contending team!
  22. Chesterton will be super tough. Columbus East will have a great team. Avon lost 3 seniors from last years 7th place team (two of which didn't make it out of regionals). We also get back Tyler Miner and Carson Brewer (both starters that were injured last year). We also add Ray Rioux at 106. I think that these teams will be in the mix also. Thanks to monster for getting this going!
  23. I got some info about the Fargo trip for team Illinois. Here is what that I have been told: Fees: $900 for one style and $1,100 for both. $100 will secure the spot the rest of the money is due at camp. Fees include: Training camp at the University of Illinois (mandatory), room and board (meals) at camp (in a dorm), bus travel to Fargo, lodging at the Days Inn, $20 a day for meals, entry fees, and gear (two shirts, shorts, two singlets, and gear bag). Fundraiser (the biggest difference in our trips): each wrestler is issued raffle tickets. Each ticket cost $20. Each ticket has four numbers. If your ticket matches the daily for drawing (Illinois lottery), then you get $100. Each ticket has 30 chances to win. This fundraiser greatly reduces the wrestlers total cost (in many cases). I believe that if the ISWA can assign a board member or create a position for a person to recruit our studs, educate clubs and parents about Fargo, and help run a fundraiser, then we may be able to turn this around.
  24. Avon is sending kids to Fargo. With this said, y2 is 100 percent correct. I really doesn't make sense to send all of our kids there. Some kids just cannot compete at that level and others are just trying to get healthy. The kids that do not go, will be going to the Grand River Rumble. Those kids have to find a way up there and one night stay. They will get 6-8 solid matches for a minimum investment (as the club pays the entry fee). If the kids want to hang around the next day, then they can get another handful of matches in the individual tourney. As far as Disney... We went there a few days early to train with Brandon. We flew, got all meals, gear, and hotel (8 nights) for $550. Kids got 13 matches and had an awesome beach day. Between Disney and GRR, our kids are getting over a half season of matches in. With all of this said, my son has been injured for the majority of the last year and a half. If he was healthy.... He would be going to Fargo. We would love to see where he stacked up against the best in the USA. Bottom line is this.... Each family must choose what is best for them. There is no right or wrong in this matter. But.... If we do want to increase our contingency at Fargo... We need to cut cost and better educate our wrestling community about what Fargo is. Here in #TheCounty, wrestling is becoming huge. With this said, I assure you that 95 percent of wrestling parents here are clueless about Fargo. We need to cut cost and promote.
