    Team State adds 4A UPDATE: 8-8-12-12 teams (the people have spoken)

    Maligned, these are great changes.  The overall number of teams are reduced  by a total of four, however, the quality of each division will improve.  
     

    not really sure about bumping up.  I think that cathedral and MD will do so, but doesn’t that knock out  otherwise deserving 4a teams?

    What is the name of the move where the bottom guy grabs the top guy's wrist with a baseball grip and sucks it to his chest and hangs on?  A variation is when you grab the wrist and the fingers with the same finish (suck it to your chest and hang on).

    Note: The Reed Egli - Kyler West match was a strange one.  The referee did just fine all night with I believe only once a coach questioned him, until that final match.  The scoring seemed to make no sense and no one could figure out where the points were coming from.  Initially it appeared West had the first TD awarded, but Egli had a whizzer and there never seemed to be control.  Egli broke away and 1 point was awarded.  We looked at the board and saw 2-1, but then noticed it was 2-1 MD.  A few exchanges and a roll through and somehow 2 back points were awarded but it didn't seem like there was control from either wrestler.  I believe the score was 5-4 Egli when he got a cradle locked up and turned West.  The fall was very quick and it appeared West's left shoulder was on top of Egli's left.  There wasn't a ton of arguing after, but seemed to be a lot of head scratching, from both sides.  Maybe someone on the other side of the gym saw it differently, but it just seemed weird. 

     

    I agree, the scoring was difficult to follow.  The coaches were not sure of what they were arguing over...just that the score was wrong!

     

    whether or not it was a pin is a different matter.  Definitely a head scratcher.

     

    Egli and west are go getters and a lot of fun to watch.  Their match—by a wide margin—was the highlight of the evening.

    Three questions for Triple B:

     

    1.  Is there anyone better at advancing rhetorical questions in an article than Triple B?  (Technically, this may not count as a question, because of its rhetorical nature).

    2.  Who do you think are questioning ontherise?  The temerity!  The unmitigated gall.

    3.  Where have you been?  I thought you retired!

    Clifford “Two Bit” Myers is an Indiana wrestling legend.  I have heard many terrific anecdotes about his antics.  Is Marty Hutsell still around?  I’m sure he could provide some color.

    Mater Dei boys wrestled bare chested in their inaugural 1950 season.  The following season, they upgraded to full tights.  Still, there was no shirt.

    around 1957, the wildcats upgraded to a cotton tank top.
