I really love our state tournament, I do but the IHSAA MUST do better for our kids.  Some things that need to be addressed by our association...

    1.  Our kids should not have to camp out in a storage area and required to use a service elevator to sit in nosebleed seats.  You should be able to sit with your family/school fans/etc or have seating for them closer to the floor.
    2.  Bathrooms and showers should be made available...not the one stall bathrooms.  The locker rooms should be available at all sessions.
    3.  1 Session, 1 March of Champions on Friday.  Now that we know we can start it at 11am, we should do that instead of getting kids back to their hotels late on Friday night.
    4.  The 1lb allowance on Saturday.  Mr. Faulkens was/is wrong in his interpretation.  The officials and our association should have stood up to him on that issue.

Just my thoughts...this tournament is supposed to be about the kids and, in numerous instances, it was not.

It's almost as if the IHSAA didn't bother to think this one through.  Because they didn't and are receiving backlash, they now blame it on the coaches.  Since we will all be in the same spot on Friday, that would be a good time for some accountability.  Maybe our IHSWCA Leaders need to ask some hard questions of the IHSAA with members present.

Word on the streets of Indy is that "the powers that be" have concluded that schools will try to take advantage of the lanyard system and load the floor with unnecessary coaches.

Also, it is apparently a rampant issue that these sneaky coaches whose athletes lose Friday night will use that lanyard from Friday to get on the floor Saturday to hang around and that is a MASSIVE PROBLEM.  So big of a problem that it is much more important to keep those scum bags off the floor rather than be sure assistant coaches have the chance to get to coach their kids.

EASY FIX:       1.   2 Coaching Lanyards for schools qualifying 1 kid.
                           2.   4 Coaching Lanyards for schools qualifying 2+ kids.
                           3.   Coaching Lanyards are different for Friday and Saturday.

How could they argue with that.  Schools can trade lanyards around throughout the coaching staff to get the desired coaches in the corners for their athletes, and athletes who are warming up are supervised (unless the instance occurs that a school has 2 athletes wrestling at once).  A school will never have more than 4 coaches on the floor at once.

    BRING BACK THE LANYARDS

There isn't a SINGLE wrestler in the state that wants to compete at a different time than their teammates.  We have three wrestlers in session 1, one wrestler in session 2.  You're telling me that our wrestler in session 2 wants to do a parade of champions and compete in a session by himself???  Crazy.

Np, I want everybody in the sport to succeed, fire many reasons and am a fan of the sport first and foremost and root all kids on to be great competitors and even more importantly Great human beings.. Plus the better quality comp across the state will  in turn elevate the bar for my own  wrestlers!

I want the best comp possible for not only my ppl but all young men/women and imho that is the only way for our sport to evolve state/nation wide... And can and will always appreciate the hard work it takes for teams/programs like Rochester to be successful from the youth level on up... Seeing a small school should motivate Everybody to put their nose down and grind and focus on getting better every day..

Congrats and best of luck this weekend with your studs coach.

That would be awsome. Send them north and eliminate 50 percent of the small school kids that qualify for state. That just what we need. If they want to go through the Ft Wayne semi-state move to a school up here. Problem solved. There are plenty of schools with open weight classes.

Pretty big for our regional to win semi-state the past three years. Rochester has a great program and they're extremely young. Clint has things going in the right direction there with some studs coming up as well.

Great for them, that's a wonderful accomplishment.. My good friend that was a 2x placer in the 90s Jeremy Motl told me that Hummel was one of the best big men to never win a state title.. I coached my guy against Bryce Baker and he was tough as well, congrats Zebras!

Congrats. Life has a great women's program and, based on what I've seen, Anna is going to win lots of matches for them in the future. I'm not sure there's another girl in the state who's improved as much as she has over the past several years. Trajectory is straight up on this one!

When are seeds/pools drawn for team state?  Will they pretty much go by current rankings or is there a chance for movement?
