Here we go again. East Noble's dual with New Haven has been postponed until a later date.  Their dual with Plymouth next week is postponed as well.

Next season all of the NE8 schools will be looking for four duals as we are switching the format of our current regular season dual schedule.

I would argue that all 8 of the teams field competitive rosters that would be a solid addition to most teams schedules. Most usually have full rosters, and several JV kids.
    The NE8 consists of:
    Bellmont
    Columbia City
    Dekalb
    East Noble
    Huntington North
    Leo
    New Haven
    Norwell

I saw that CC and Jay County are doing a girls only dual this week. Just curious as to the number of girls teams around the state have?  It would be cool to get more events like the CC vs JC dual together. At East Noble we have 6 out for the team. 106, 120, 132, 132, 138, 152

It's a fairly standard event that happens every two years.  This will be the third i've been involved with, and the other two haven't brought huge changes.  I cannot say that this one won't will be different, but if its anything like the others the changes are mainly between neighboring sectionals.  There has never been a real push to reroute any whole regionals or sectionals to differnet semi-states.  More a team or two moves between sectionals or regionals.
The commitee this year is the officers, then other coaches who give us a total of 8 (two per semi-state).
If you want to make a guess at who may move here is a cool map that we made that has the sectionals/regionals/semi-states laid out by color.

Our football coach makes the same argument.  I thought it was crazy when he first said it, but I now dont know that there isn't some validity.  We want football to push kids into wrestling, but as of right now there are only two varsity options for alot of linemen  (220 and 285).  I have had a lot of kids who are in that 230-245 range that wrestling becomes pretty tough for.  Unless you are a pretty solid athelete wrestling 285 when you weigh 245 is a pretty big challenge.  I think we would see more football kids coming out if that extra option was added for them.

That brings up another great question about the role that youth success plays in later success.  Is there a correlation?

But they do support his statement.

The 4A-6A schools account for 71% of the High School enrollment in Indiana.

162 of 224 Qualifiers is 72%. That matches pretty darn close.

Generally speaking the % of qualifiers will mirror the percent of the general population.  That is all I am saying.  So if... (I don't recal the acctual numbers)

65% of all students go to 3A schools 65 % of Qualifiers will be from 3A
25% of all students go to 2A schools 25% of qualifiers will be from 2A
10% of all students go to 1A schools 10 % of qualifers will be from 1A

The argument the class wrestling crowd would use is that if things were fair then-
65% of all students go to 3A schools 33% of Qualifiers will be from 3A
25% of all studetns fo to 2A schools 33% of qualifers will be from 2A
10 % of all students go to 1A schools 33% of qualfiers will be from 1A

Almost every year the % of qualifiers will look pretty much exactally the same as the general population.  If there was a giant disadvantage to an indivdual who goes to a small school it wouln't mirror the population.  This is the only point I am making, and its the how it has played out almost every year... This year may be different I haven't seen the stats.

I am not in anyway saying that a team at a small school is equally as likely to get a qualifier as a larger school.  I am saying that a good individual from Busco has the same chance as a good indivdual from East Noble. East Noble will likely have more good indivduals, but that is because they have a bigger population to choose from.

They old gold and greens are really old.. Zeke wore both on Saturday, they are not sublimated.. Really thick material and they are off brand. We have new gold and greens that are sublimated, but not as shiny. Dickey had the newer ones on Saturday morning and night.

If it is not a good argument then why do the numbers in terms of qualifiers mirror the numbers of the general population pretty much every year? Is it just  coicidental?

Id like to think we can have a fair conversation.  The % of qualifiers in each group almost always mirrors the % of the total population each group makes up.  I feel that is what you would expect.
Some people believe that fairness would be shown if 12% (Small school population) of the population made up 33% of the qualifiers.  I personally do not think that makes any sense, but to each their own i guess.

Total nerd topic lol, but on the way home from state my assistant and I were discussing the gold and the green singlets and had a few questions.
    1. Are they sublimated?
    2. If so how did they get them so shiny?
    3. If they are not sublimated, what company do they get them from?

I know this is asking for some insider information here...

ENoblewrestling got a reaction from rgreenwood3636 in Sectional Seeding Criteria Question
The head to head and common opponent criteria come first.  If neither of those criteria are met I believe the semi-state criteria would be next.  In this situation you would be giving a seed to a wrestler who has proved in the past that they are a quality wrestler.  If we went just by record you are not taking into account the strength of schedule of the wrestlers.  Wouldn't the system be just as broken if we rewarded teams for having easy schedules?
