  3. then middle schoolers would be aloud to have wrestling Some things just make you sit back and shake your head.
  4. It does make one think of Don Quixote and tilting at windmills.
  5. WC182Dad, Just to keep you on track, here's a post you made about a year and a half ago. I underlined and bolded several lines you may want to remember so you don't have the same regrets at the end of the season coming up. So far, history seems to be repeating though. ********************************************************************************** Re: Caliboy189 ? Reply #6 on: February 17, 2010, 05:35:49 AM ? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Quote from: peter dragon on February 16, 2010, 03:05:35 PM I didn't see that post. I hate to see him not post on here anymore but on the other hand, I'm sure Andre has had his fair share of unwanted attention this season due to some of his fathers posts. Good Luck to Andre in the future....and remember that flying under the radar sometimes is better than having your name all over this website every week...Just ask Matt Hurford!!! You are 100% correct I believe all this was a distraction to him as the year went on, I apologize to him, his mother and the coaches I have learned my comments was a big mistake in keeping him focused. It is really hard as a parent that was a pretty good wrestler, and have these high hopes for my boy who has had a great deal of success in ISWA winning 14 state titles, national titles ect.. You wait for the time they get in to high school and to waste an oppotunity is frusterating this has been the hardest week for all of us. But I am extremely proud of him, he has been through alot people do not know about and for that I commend him. There is just a couple things I would like to say next season ,I am not bringing his name up or the team he wrestles for. Next, Great job to Matt Hurford this has to be the most improved wrestler keep up the good work. And lastly Thanks again from myself and The rest of the Richards Family alot of family likes to read about the wrestlers from week to week, Again Andre has not had it easy and Thanks to everyone who has always supported him. Believe me when I say though he will be a different wrestler next year I have a personal trainer that will be working with him on inner core, streinghth, and speed. I have one of the best technical coaches and wrestler working with him during the freestyl and greco season and he will be hitting all the national tourny's to get him ready. We both know the mistakes we made and it will not happen again. Again Thanks for everyones support my love for the sport bit me in the ass!! My pics will be ready tomorrow. And again Great job Hurford!!
  6. That made me laugh! Somehow, I suspect we'll hear about him . . . . from a variety of aliases.
  7. Wow, that's quite a story. The most impressive part to me was the coaches adapting on the fly and holding the trip together. The wrestling was an added bonus. Outstanding job by the leaders of the group!
  8. Don't worry, you'll hear more than you probably want to know about Richards in the coming year from DemOGuy. Wish I had the email he sent at the end of the high school season two years ago (under a different user name, I think). He vowed to not be as much of a promoter for Richards and just let the kid wrestle. Guess that changed.
  9. Good thing that schedule isn't for 2011. Not sure how popular the Saturday finals would be on Christmas Eve. 2012 works better with that Saturday being the 22nd.
  10. I'm surprised the school didn't invoke the SEC Exemption Rule when the fine was levied. That says that if you are a high school within 200 miles of an SEC school, you are exempt from following enrollment and/or recruiting rules. Cheating is sort of expected in those regions. I heard, but can't confirm, that Ohio is considering a similar exemption for schools within 200 miles of Columbus. It will be called the Buckeye Exemption Rule.
  11. I like that analogy and the visual is comical. May have to put out some sugar cubes and water on the driveway, pull up a chair by the window, and watch the show some evening!
  12. Are you talking about wrestlers, or politicians? I think the top 100 are all politicians!
  13. Not having the site available makes one realize how much you rely on it and appreciate it's existence. That said, Y2 probably won't come on here and beat the fund raising drum, but there is a "Donate" button at the bottom of the Forum page. It's easy to use (I just used it) and is a great way to say thanks and show how much you appreciate this site!
  14. http://indianamat.com/messageboard/index.php/topic,14202.0.html The link above (if I did it correctly) is to a post a day or so ago by R4mom titled "A Simple Request". I thought it was very good and seems to be applicable to this thread. Might be worth rereading. Just a thought.
  15. Hmmm. Warm weather, no state income tax, and closer to the Florida Gators. What's not to like?!
  16. Andy, is there something you need to tell us?
  17. Smart decision. A tough one to make, but it sounds like the right decision in the long run.
  18. I had heard of this a few months ago, but the article didn't describe what was being done for fear that kids would try it. When I finally found out the details, it was a huge eye opener. I remember as a kid, probably somewhere between 5th and 7th grade, the neighborhood kids did a variation of this out on the front lawn of our houses! We had absolutely no idea there was any danger. Just that it made you feel a little loopy and sometimes you'd pass competely out for a brief period. Wow, we had no idea what so ever what we were playing with. I wish someone had talked to us because we were oblivious to any risk. I didn't realize it until the tragedy with the wrestler happened. Although that was a terrible situation, perhaps giving it the publicity will save some kids. It certainly opened my eyes.
  19. Zimmer was a class act all the way in high school. He'll be a good representative for ND.
  20. Thanks, she already has cauliflower ear. That had me laughing! Congratulations. May not want to share that with your wife, at least for a little while!
  21. Great write up coach. Couldn't agree with you more about Nick. Saw him many times in junior high and high school. He was always a class act. One of those guys you see, remember, and wish there were more like him. I've been wondering where he would end up after college. I thought I was the only one thinking that sure would be a great fit at New Prairie! Don't sell yourself short either. The program there has a good future.
  22. I wasn't there for the finals, so I didn't hear the anthem. However, over the years I have heard the anthem done poorly and extremely well and everywhere in between. The common part was that every one of them gave me goose bumps. Not some, but all of them. I'm sure last night would have done the same. I guess for me it's more about what is being sung, what it represents, and those who are no longer with us to hear it - rather than how well it is sung. Then again, I suppose that's just me.
