Falcon06 reacted to The Professor Morgan in Extra training Forbidden?
No hard feelings, our staff and the perry staff of which I still hold with high regard As well as several others always have made this a passion and lifestyle. I’m close with Many of the academies and they do a great job.

There are numerous strong programs like this in the state with in-program club feeder systems. In those situations, it makes complete sense why the coach would expect to have some input or control over the off-season training of their athletes. The generalizations being made in this post of high school coaches as "part-time" and academy coaches as "professionals" are disappointing. Indiana is blessed with many high school coaches who are "good enough to make a living" at coaching and still choose to coach high school and club programs over starting or working for academies. Moreover, many of these same coaches do continue to dedicate themselves to their wrestlers (all their wrestlers, not just the ones who can afford the costs of a private academy) year-round by training and taking kids to off-season tournaments for much less than the academy coaches are earning.

This is from coach Tonte:
I don’t have an account, but this is something I wanted to make sure I said something about. I have many friends that run academies and don’t think any of them would consider guys like us as part time coaches. We and countless other coaches running successful programs do not consider ourselves to be part timers.

Reasons why a coach might not want separate private instruction during the season.
1. Potential IHSAA violation
2. Conflicting technique or strategy
3. Academy coach working with other kids in the same weight
4. Higher potential for burnout or fatigue due to extra workouts
There is more to this than what you are leading onto.

Falcon06 got a reaction from Westforkwhite in Team state notable wins and upsets
Great dual meet. Super exciting. If Warren won it would have came down to criteria- and that would have made it 8 matches pm to 6 burg. Ended up being 7 matches to 7. Burg had a misconduct in the match and I’m not sure how that would have figured in in the criteria if it came down to that. Congrats to Brownsburg for another state championship. We’re going to enjoy the holidays and get back on the grind. We’ve got big duals coming up against Cathedral and a rematch against Brownsburg in a few weeks. We’re gonna keep working hard and getting better. Awesome day of wrestling to all teams involved.

Overall, it was a great day of wrestling, but the inconsistency with stall calls was indeed disgusting.

Falcon06 reacted to tskin in West Washington High School
Last night we went to West Washington High School for a dual with them. They are a first year program and our coached by a young man, Dennis Tankersly, that I watched wrestle his way to a semi-state birth on another "new" program in Eastern Pekin back when I coached at Scottsburg.
I want to say that I was very impressed by the atmosphere he is creating there at West Washington. Prob the best wrestling enviroment we have been in so far this season. His goal is to bring excitement back to the sport and I will say my wrestlers were excited about the introductions and how the meet went down.
Hats off to doing it the right way, if your interested I posted a short vid to my snapchat story last night you can watch.

Falcon06 got a reaction from doctorWrestling in High School Wrestling Participation up
I have seen a lot of teams starting up Varsity 2 teams. I know this has helped with retention at Perry especially with seniors. In the past we would see some seniors drop after wrestle off's when they didn't make V1. With the addition of the V2 team they still get matches at a high level. I know this doesn't account for 1000 extra wrestlers but I do believe it retains seniors we would have lost. We have quite a few seniors wrestling on our V2 squad this year.

The 170 pound soon be Danville junior recieved one of the only 4 Black Hats given at J Robs 28 day intensive camp out of hundreds of wrestlers...He graduated with over a perfect score gaining 10 positive ratings during camp and ran his 15 miles in 2 hours and 6 minutes...very proud of this young man who is like a nephew to me and glad he represented Indiana so well during a challenging but life changing experience! Look for big things the next 2 years and beyond out of this fine young man! He's had a very productive off season winning Nuway and Indy nationals while wrestling on dual national teams and gaining valuable knowledge for the future.

Eric Aue was Nails too..kind of fun fact Terrell Coatie who graduated from NC transferred to NC from Perry when his dad moved out of state for work and he came here to live with family..He was a Unreal athlete who didn't start wrestling til his freshman yr...He would've placed twice if he wouldve been released his jr year but only could wrestle team events late in season...His senior yr his pinned state champion Danny Williams and beat Runner Up Conkling of Mater Dei @team state as well..he placed 7th losing to Bellmonts Tim Ortiz in a crazy match..Terrell was a 3 sport All-State athlete and ran sub 4:30 mile..he would hit the sickest standing granbys ever and make good wrestlers look silly with his speed...he lost in ticket round iirc his first 2 yrs ever wrestling I do believe..
