5_CrossFaced reacted to Y2CJ41 in Wrestlebacks and 2-class individual tournamnet - compare and contrast
I'm not fired up until I press this button! But honestly, would love to know the breaking point of when people would consider class wrestling and how far we have to go for people to realize we need to look at a change.

As stated in another thread, at what point do we trash tradition?
Would losing 25 programs do the trick? How about 50, 100, more?
Would participation levels at an all-time low do it?

Mendez/Boarman in the semifinals. Probably the final nail in the coffin for Mater Dei's chances at a team title. Ouch.

5_CrossFaced reacted to leggin89 in Frosh-Soph State North Qualifier Information
Hello:
Portage is excited to be hosting the Indiana Frosh-Soph North Qualifier. We hope that all will follow the below rules for the event.
Frosh/Soph State Qualifier:
February 14th, 2021
COVID-19 Protocol & Procedures
Schools attending will only be allowed 3 coaches for the event. Also, each athlete will be allowed to designate two attendees for the event. The attendees can only be the parents of the wrestler participating in the tournament. The Coach of each school attending needs to designate the person(s) attending via email by Friday February 12th, 2021. (andrew.bradbury@portage.k12.in.us)
All attendees MUST wear face masks. Athletes will be exempt from this when they are warming-up or competing.
If you are not feeling well, experiencing symptoms or may be at a higher risk for getting very sick, we recommend you stay home.
Each person entering the event will be subject to a screening for COVID-19 symptoms.
In order to encourage social distancing there will be extremely limited seating, it is highly recommended that spectators bring their own "camp" chairs for seating.
Spectators from different households must always be seated 6’ away from each other.
A designated monitor will be assigned to ensure social distancing and mask wearing throughout the tournament.
There will be no physical interaction with the referee. The referee will maintain 6’ distance as much as possible. Handshaking and normal match procedures such as raising an athlete's hand will be eliminated from this tournament.

5_CrossFaced reacted to Mattyb in New Castle Semi State Attendance
Wait!!!... the AD is Ben Wissel? The same one that wrestled at Purdue and coached at Duke??? He’s the AD at New Castle? If that is him.... does he come in and wrestle? That dude is awesome.

5_CrossFaced reacted to maligned in Most senior starters ever
Thinking about the Warren Central lineup and its 11 senior starters got me thinking: what's the highest number of senior starters a team has ever had? Really, 6 or 7 is a high number to have. Having 11 is about the highest I can recall. Anybody have that many or more that they remember?

5_CrossFaced reacted to SWINfan in Worst ticket round draws ever ?
Does Eli Dickens vs. Alex Mosconi in 2017 count? I'd say yes.
I was going to suggest Tyler Fergusen 54-1 of Reitz vs. DJ Smith in 2013, but then noticed they had freaking wrestlebacks and there was no Ticket Round in 2013! What they hell?? How did I forget that?

5_CrossFaced reacted to SWwrestling in Beeks vs Hardcastle ticket round match
I know and understand that Hardcastle has dreams of being a State Qualifier and that is why I said nothing negative about him. What I was frustrated with was that Josh wasn't given the opportunity because of a "Caution" and a questionable one at that. I was not impressed with the Oak Hill coaching staff and how they handled the situation and am pretty sure they are aware of that. I am sorry for the subtle comments I will make them clear!
Ryan Landis - head coach at Southern Wells if that wasn't clear??

5_CrossFaced reacted to Coach Humble in Beeks vs Hardcastle ticket round match
I appreciate all those comments made. I was at mat side. The referee signaled a false start, the Oak Hill wrestler was tended and their was discussion taking place between the head coach of Oak Hill and the referees along with one of those in charge refs. I am not being critical but what I would have liked to have seen would have been that the ref would have signaled the “false start” on him, given the appropriate “recovery time” and then let the match continue. That would eliminate some of the more negative effects.

5_CrossFaced reacted to Y2CJ41 in Beeks vs Hardcastle ticket round match
There was a rule change a few years ago where if a kid was injured on a false start and couldn't continue that they would win via injury default. It was a good rule change for instances where a false start causes an injury to an opponent.
This situation is very interesting as it was a ticket round and the injured wrestler recovered enough to win semi-state.

5_CrossFaced reacted to Raider94 in Beeks vs Hardcastle ticket round match
Beeks started on Mat 2’s whistle and got a caution for it. I saw it clearly while watching the Berne Witness live stream.
I didn’t think it was a caution if you went on another mat’s whistle.
