Cool award! That's almost as much ink at the Evansville Courier an Press used on an article about Nick Lee. Not wanting to hijack your thread but I find it frustrating that as far as I know ZERO local basketball teams made it to state this year both University of Evansville (D1) and University of Southern Indiana (D2) basketball teams didn't even sniff getting into their respective tournaments. IU, Kentucky, and Notre Dame didn't make the tournament and Purdue is already out. Nick's picture didn't even make the front page??? I know Nick doesn't care about headlines but when you have the State Champions in your town, a National Champion from your town and other schools worthy of some press near by and we're looking at pictures and articles about basketball teams that aren't even from our region??? Very frustrating, Lily King who won Olympic gold in swimming got decent press, she earned it but so did Nick. Very disappointing.

But you have to admit that,  just like most sports these days, with the evolution of academies, clinics, camps, year round events, etc, giving some athletes a more quality experiences and mat time our sport hasn’t exactly been catering to those who aren’t at solidly footed in the middle class or higher.

Yes, I graduated from a "Big" school (Mishawaka) where wrestling was/is a top sport for that community. We won Team State back when we had an IHSAA Team State, multiple times.

I coached there for 2 years and then moved on to a "smaller" school (Jimtown). At Jimtown I had no inclination that anything was different. The same mindset and "Team" aspect was preached everyday. Individual successes came along with the success of the team. So, with the development of the classed team state tournament, it helped gain traction with younger kids at the middle school and elementary level. We went on to upset a forceful Yorktown team in the semi finals to earn a chance at the 2A team state title. Jimtown has been at the IHSWCA just about every year except for maybe 1-2 times, since its inception. Individually we had multiple kids that were contenders for State Titles, Placements.

Now, I am the Head Coach at Bremen, a 1A school. This program was in ruins. 3 total kids when my staff and I took over. We now have over 40 club kids, 30+ middle schoolers, and this past season a full varsity lineup that could've done great things in the state series and qualified for a team state berth, had it not been for Quarantine issues. We preach every day about our goals for the program. With Bremen being a smaller school, it is not easy to create a wrestling atmosphere from nothing, but we are and man is it worth it to see the payoff.

Classed Individual State is a no for me. Realignment of Sectional to Regional to Semi-State, I'm down for.

Everyone has their opinion. First I must thank Indiana Wrestling for allowing us a season when many other states did not. In August if you would've asked me about a season I would have told you there was no chance well happily I was proven wrong today. I will say as a former wrestler and now a coach YES, the system sucks, kids don't get the shine they deserve, but its is the system we have had for how many years? You can bash the IHSAA all you want but every school and every kid is playing under the same rules, top 4 advance. Are some semi states not as deep as others, sure. Are some weights not as deep as others, sure, BUT every year when you leave the state finals you know the kid at the top of the podium was the best at that weight for 4 weeks. We are a single class state finals which is the absolute BEST part about our state tournament series. My favorite part of state is seeing a small school get kids to state and even to the finals. Could the system use a change OF COURSE, but it is what we have and we are wrestling that is a lot better than most right now. Again thank you to every single wrestler, coach, parent, and fan that made this season possible. I love Indiana wrestling good luck to all of those still competing next weekend!

Then don't complain when the rankings aren't as you wish they were. If you don't report the result then you can't blame the rankers for missing something.

All of the rankers do a fantastic job of compiling information from hundreds of kids. Missing one result isn't the end of the world.

Guarantee ppl would not drag their feet on reporting results! Some Ppl think rankings don't matter and in relation to getting your guy prepped for a guy and competing it doesn't but when it comes to getting a kid looked at for college (I know many big schools only care about grades and National scene usually) opportunites and having  educated insight on the quality and depth of our talent then Rankings are huge..

Then you add the seeding purposes in this kind of scenario, if needed...I appreciate the heck out of the hard work these guys dedicate and volunteer and too many times does it get taken for granted..I think we're going in a better direction and would like to know if we're improving in the Result reporting @Y2CJ41 do you have any stats on that or a guess on that? I'm going to make it a obligation next year too at least report NC results better and insert big results that I see that haven't been entered in the significant result categories that I see across the board.. I'm a stat head and enjoy doing that stuff.. Anyways I think we all can agree there needs to be Wrestle backs at SS and state!

I could not agree less.  Annually for 10+ years I have created dozens of spreadsheets detailing the accuracy of the rankings.  IndianaMat rankings is incredibly accurate/consistent. I do not want the SS to be seeded, but if they did decide to do it, using the rankings would be an intelligent start for the process.
