When are we going to set up a "B" state duals? Now that some of the top teams in the state have the depth to have two full squads competing and beat other varsity teams. It would be cool to see who has the top "B" also it would help to project for the upcoming years line up. Who would some of the top "B" teams be?

Gunnar has had a GREAT wrestling career and it would be easy to "define" him by his athletic accolades, but his accomplishments off the Mat are 10 fold to those.  His Teammates from Indiana and around the Country know and appreciate this about him.  Comments from DLane, hook and half and quinnsDAD mean a lot!  Thanks for the "ride" IndianaMat.....now on to West Point

The criteria is vague in that each voter can see fit as to how they want to vote. 
 
I personally lean towards best career, but the voters do not need to vote in that manner.

Why does it matter what year in high school you won a state title?  Only 1 senior in this whole senior class was a 2x state champion, that was Colton Cummings.
 
If you asked the question "whose career would you most like to have?", I'd bet most people would say the one that ended with 2 state titles.
 
Not the one that had 3 losses in the state semifinals and only one title.
Not the one that had a ticket round loss, a loss on Friday night, and only one title.
Not the one that had 3 state placements and only one trip to the finals and no titles.

I think being a state champ is the "easy" part. What have these kids did well outside of wrestling that separates them from their peers?

***The only negative and possibly not fair - Did he move to 285 to avoid Mason Parris?  He wrestled 220 as recently as April '16.  Moved to 285 in summer so maybe it's not the case, but it makes me wonder.  I couldn' blame him if that was the case, but if true it would keep me from voting him #1. Either way, after a lot of thought, I rated Bailey higher regardless but very close between the two.*****
 
I believe (thought I read it in the paper) he made the move to 285 because that is what he will be wrestling at brown...he couldnt get to 197...College only has 10 weights.
 
I would also like to throw out gunner larson...4 time state qualifier at 220..didn't give up a take down this year until the match with Paris...has wrestled on multiple national teams..also going d1 (west point)..mental attitude award winner...chose to stay at 220 because it was best for his team.

Haven't seen it yet -- wanted to give two thumbs up to the trio of young ladies from Daleville on their beautiful rendition of the National Anthem for this year's state championship
 
 

Unfortunate that Carroll (Fort Wayne) is effectively going to be stealing a spot from a more deserving team for no other reason than geography.  They wouldn't even be in consideration for a wild card spot if the top 10 automatically qualified, as they are more than 15 points from the 10th team on the list.

Larson is my choice. Great career!

I kinda went 50/50 Senior Season & Rest of HS career with my thought process. I ranked my top picks for best senior season and tournament finish. Then ranked my top picks for best combined Fresh-Junior seasons and tournament finishes from the group of Seniors.
 
I combined the rankings for the two lists and came out with Bailey as my most deserving pick.

How about a shout out for PA announcer Kevin whitehead. After the Cummings match I thought it was a class move to shout out Colton Cummings and giving respect to a 2x state champion on Friday night after his last high school match. It reminded me of the all American round at the NCAA's. As always Mr. Whitehead always class

Isn't Gunnar also ranked in the country ? 
Mason Parris is a machine idk what the score would be but I definitely think i'd take him over Davison.

Me personally would like to congratulate Logan Boe on one heck of a run.
 
I would also like to congratulate Avon for having 4 state placers (two sophomores and a freshman). Last time I checked... four state placers is a great thing.
 
Huge congratulations to Gunnar Larson on a great career and EARNING the mental attitude award. He is a great leader and will do something great with the rest of his life. Thank you to the IHSAA from realizing this also.
 
Last but not least... great season by the Bulldogs. They won everything! The always seem to be having fun and are all great kids.
 
With all of that said... Adams Central had a great season (wherever that school is). You should be proud of your kids. That zero points scored is very strong. I assure you that we will take your criticism to heart and get better. Thanks for your multiple post knocking our kids...... gesh!
