Poor Fart Wayne, 1 in finals. They may need to realign these semi’s. What’s up with this?

Fort Wayne will constantly struggle getting elite talent with the small school nature of the semi state. But our depth has been improving the past few years with the additions of a few RTCs, like Indiana Tech and Mad Man wrestling.

The coolest part is, there hasn’t been a state championship in New Castle for 28 years. Bubba Dickerson was the last. Ty wearing that throwback singlet makes us very proud. RIP Bubba. ❤️ Sometimes meaning is much greater than looks!!!

That’s all I needed to hear! Honestly like the green too, just the black one is possibly my all time favorite singlet.

Maybe I am but probably not. Just the “class state” and how Indiana wrestling is just becoming a sport for the elite and wealthy is so negative and way more harm than good.

I am from one of the smallest schools in Indiana (Shenandoah) and I totally hate classing the tourney. I love class team state duals but I fell in love in 8th grade when I went to state and saw small schools just like me with a kids in the placings. It showed me that you CAN compete and beat these 4-6a school kids.
We are in a sport where if you don’t like the kid that got 1st, YOU can change that by your efforts and we’re in 1 of 3 states where if YOU don’t like a team that won a tourney, YOU can change it.

Silas Allred is an elite kid for our state that came out of the freaking “old middle school gym/cafeteria” of podunk Shenandoah that has a daggum wind turbine in its backyard. He did it all with shoes, a mat, a couple good partners, couple dedicated coaches/community and massive PASSION to be great and compete. Thrine just won a title with literally only wrestling his partners and listening to his coaches.

These elite kids don’t just flee because they’re smarter than us and know they’re going to face a couple other elite challengers along the way and want to be apart of Indiana history legacy and truly grow our state in this awesome sport. “Iron Sharpens Iron”

I mentioned this earlier with Thrine, but arguing for a single class because a small school lucked into a unicorn doesn’t help your argument.

Tylin’s success did kill a lot of my arguments for class wrestling. New Castle is a 2A school that is at least an hour from any major club and the only coaches he’s had are the current New Castle coaches and other NC alum in their youth program as far as I’m told. I guess it isn’t a matter of resources, but just a matter of heart. I love it. He proved you can do anything if you just have fun and attack.

I think it strengthened the argument. Basically your only chance to be a state champ at 2A is to be a unicorn. I think I counted 9 2A wrestlers in the semis, Thrine the only one in the finals. And the farthest 1A got was Tyce DuPont getting 5th. The gap has never been wider, IMO.

    Yea….. @Momma2Dickmans you’re having a conversation with what I call “Cricket Posters” .

Since Im not one of those I’ll be the first to say Congrats to Rev ! Made it look easy this weekend . Didn’t allow a takedown . Congrats Rev on a Fantastic season . Not bad being a Ironman Placer and comeback home being a IHSAA State Champ as well in one season . Is he the First ? Idk, probably but won’t be last either . Just hope Indiana Wrestling wakes up now .

    WELL DONE CHAMP

PS … I’m still looking for my favorite Avenger  @Thor . Where is my buddy ?

First congrats to Dickman. Kid is a hammer and the only reason he’s not a lock as a future four timer is all the young hammers coming up with him.

I never said Dickman wouldn’t win, no one was ever disrespecting Dickman. I only argued the rankings since Horn had the recent head to head and your logic of him having a tougher schedule was the only reasoning you had for him being ranked over a loss he took.

At first I was just arguing rankings, but my biggest issue I had with you is how you went on and on about how Dickman and Brownsburg were super disrespected. Dude, your guys have your own beat writer on this sight. You thinking Brownsburg was disrespected is like the Chiefs and Georgia claiming no one believed in them.

What probably pisses me off the most are all the Brownsburg posters on here puffing their chests out about their program, when they’re all involved with a big rich school that can afford a $100 million expansion for the school, with a lot obviously going to the wrestling program. Basically bragging about all the opportunities Brownsburg has, while schools like South Adams operate out of a closet, have no support, and still have to wrestle the same sport as you guys. I’ll admit I’m jealous of the opportunity Brownsburg has and the resources poured into the program. I’m just tired of my rich neighbor complaining that the caviar is t fresh enough.

Again congrats to Dickman, wish him all the best the next three years.

But it turns out I was in the arena to watch it live... Not watch the board.

That was for those complaining on tv. Still saw it clear as day looking at the mat, just not as bright. Still physically saw everything and I grow closer to blind every day.

However, I do think that anyone who has paid for the finals should have evergreen access to them instead of having to pay again to acquire the DVD of them.

If you purchase anything on IHSAA you can download it. I have South Adams state football run all on a drive.

  8. Fort Wayne is definitely on the comeup. May still be at the bottom numbers wise, but it’s pretty even between Fort Wayne new castle and East Chicago. Even more impressive considering the demographic is mainly small schools. It wasn’t long ago Fort Wayne was struggling to reach 20 placers and being completely outclassed. This year we got 25 on the podium and were in a lot of the matches lost.

In the past I remember a function that allowed me to watch all four mats.  Is this available again and if it is would it be on flo or ihsaatv?

Flo has a quadbox option where you get all four mats. I haven't tried on my phone in a while, but I'm pretty sure the quadbox only works on a computer or tablet.

I don't know of a HS gym with nice comfy padded seats like the Ford Center either.  I know when I have attended and been there the whole day, my butt thanked me!

I did not know that about the Ford Center. Sign me up, I'll drive 4.5 hours for state there. Very underrated part of the sell.

Anyone else experiencing issues when transfer tickets to others or vice versa?

I was able transfer the tickets purchased for our school and families, however it says the people receiving them say the may have been claimed or to try later.

I also received tickets, transfer a couple, but now it shows I have no upcoming events or tickets!!!!!! I and should have 21!!!!

    #TicketGate2023.....the saga continues. WTF

Make sure you’re on the Pacers website. I had the same issue, but I was on Ticketmaster not the pacers site. I also had no issues transferring tickets.

Really wish they went back to the old way of selling tickets.  Very difficult for the casual wrestling fan to come watch the finals.  Unfortunately, you will see lots of open seats on Saturday when they could have been filled.

Didn’t seem that way last year. If people want to go, getting tickets online vs in person isn’t changing that.

You have to think in terms of point differential--not points scored. The difference between losing a forfeit and getting a pin is 12 points, not just 6 (because a forfeit puts you 6 in the hole and a pin swings you over to 6 in front). If you've got 4 SS or State-level guys coming back, those guys alone will be worth more than 30 points per dual more in differential than having 4 kids at sectional non-placer level, for example. Their 4 big returnees will make their duals results about 12 points stronger per match against 1A teams than if they had 4 regional qualifiers at those spots.

I kind of understand that, but still think it’s a backward way of looking at it. Especially when they have three forfeits, it feels like they get credit for 30+ points one way, but not 20+ points the other way. 4 studs get pins and giving 3 forfeits is only a six point match.

  14. 27 minutes ago, maligned said:

What's funny is, they forfeited 3 weights at sectional and the Team State qualifying scoring thinks they'll spot everyone 18 points in duals next year--but they're still in an automatic bid position. Normally, a couple forfeits is death to 1A teams trying to qualify.

Which I still don’t get. Those studs returning are still worth just 6 points each.

So how many points do you lose when you have a freshman, that was in the lineup all year,  gets a season ending injury the week before sectionals?

As has been explained to me, you’re bleep out of luck. SA would be auto in if we didn’t have two late injuries and a missed weight. Still not sure how the points spit out the returning 5th place finisher that returns 12 of 14 starters outside the auto bid. We’ll earn our spot again next December.

This is the terps second dual win since joining the conference. So good for them. PU needs to get back on the recruiting trail.

Purdue has a very strong class coming in, but they are down bad right now. Lost to Northwestern and their only two wins were forfeits. I am willing to buy that this is a transition year, but it has been rough. Worst team in the Big Ten. A lot of young guys in starter spots that definitely not ready yet. Injuries have hurt, as Thomas Penola was an AA threat and Jake Null would've been a solid starter. Just those two probably get a few more Big Ten wins. Matt Ramos and Kendall Coleman are the only guys saving my sanity with this awful season.
