Bruins2013 reacted to base in Sectional seeding
Here is another complaint -- and I raise this every year -- in the sectionals with > 8 teams several of the wrestlers are put into a "one-and-done" scenario.  If you are lucky enough to have a sectional with only 8 teams, then no matter what your record you are in double-elimination with a chance to wrestle back for 4th and a move to Regionals.

So, if you look at the sectionals with > 8 teams they have to seed the top 6 and then the rest are random draw.  However, since only 6 are seeded, that leaves 2 quarterfinal slots that are completely open.  In my opinion, the unseeded wrestlers should go there to battle it out with each other.  Instead, some sectionals do a complete random draw and place an unseeded wrestler against a top seed, while another unseeded wrestler lucks out and gets a bye in that empty quarterfinal slot.

Mooresville coaches have done it right -- the unseeded wrestlers are always paired up on those open slots and the #1 and #2 seeds always draw a bye to the quarterfinals.  Meanwhile, as an example in the Crawfordsville sectional at 182 there is unseeded Wrestler with 17-17 record who has drawn into a first round with the #2 seed.  If he loses, then he is done - no chance to wrestle back for 4th.  In the same bracket, a 12-23 wrestler gets a first round bye to the quarterfinals.  If he loses he still has a shot at wrestling back to move on.  I would like to see that 17-17 unseeded matched up against the 12-23 unseeded wrestler and give the #2 guy a bye.  That way at least both of the unseeded have a better shot to battle for that #3 or #4 finish and another weekend.  For some kids, that alone may make their entire season.

Our Athletic Director asked the IHSAA about that and said we could NOT do it unless the IHSWCA made a proposal to do it that way.

The real wrestling season starts this weekend with everyone's post season record of 0-0.
May you wrestle to the highest level you are capable of and free of any injury or illness.
I have seen great wrestlers choke and not get out of sectionals. Some have missed weight and done.
I also have seen .500 wrestlers catch fire and make it down to state.
It is your time to shine.
It would be neat to have a big bracket board that starts with all the sectionals and end up with the final sixteen at State Finals. Why should March Madness be the only one to have it?
Maybe some high tech fellow fan could put it together and post here.
It would really show how huge of an accomplishment getting to state in our one class system.

In the match you stated, there was a little extra at the end that was inappropriate and the wrestler was reprimanded. We do not teach nor condone that. It is an emotional sport and at times, high school kids make the wrong decision in the heat of the moment.

I'm sure you have all the details since you made a new account to complain in all your posts. Can you give us the matches where punches were thrown and kids were slammed in the back of the head? There is video where these accusations can be confirmed or invalidated.

160 I'll take Johnson from Wayne lost to Potter earlier in the year 6-5, however he has wrestled a tough schedule and I believe he takes this one. And of course I'm biased.

    .
my comment to his earlier comment was after he had already inserted himself into an issue that didn't involve him in the first place.....he always swoops in to be the savior and defender of everyone against the ISWA.

My main issue is when the ISWA has done nothing wrong and someone goes on here and slams them why pile on and why not instead do the right thing and say something along the lines of "well sir, your points are not correct and you have to follow the rules like everyone else".

In response to his comments................no you don't have to attend the meeting to have a tournament, but it is the only way to guarantee your planned date.....if you don't attend then you are at the mercy of the discretion of the ISWA to say if it is a good weekend or a bad weekend depending on the # of tournaments that were bid for at the bid meeting by the clubs adhering to the rules (he knows this and is just trying to stir the pot when it is not needed).

Again why are there not more people posting comments in support of the ISWA on this issue is the real question ???

The regional multiplier isn't meant to determine which sectional and regional has the most top end kids, it is meant to determine the overall strength of the regional based on all of the teams in the regional, not just the top end teams.
Most years the Carroll regional has had many more mid level teams than the jay county regional.

So it kind of looked like this-
    Jay County
    Top End teams
    Yorktown
    Belmont

    Mid level
    AC
    Jay county.
    Muncie central.
    Delta.
    South Adams.

    Carroll
    Top end
    Carroll

    Mid level
    Columbia city
    Busco
    Garrett
    Dwenger
    Leo
    Snider
    New haven
    Homestead
    Woodlan
    Huntington north
    Usual a random FW school
