  1. Maybe the same thing that happened between when Tonte first lost to Jones then beat him the 2nd time. Anything can happen on the mat and no match is a guaranteed win.
  2. Rypel did not get taken down twice. Rypel scored 3 takedowns and 2 escapes. Jones scored 3 escapes, 1 takedown, and 1 penalty point. They will see each other at least 2 more times and it could honestly go either way depending on which one decides to step it up the most. Jones has come a long way and Rypel appears to be suffering a bit with the injury and weight cut.
  3. So just for example, if Nick Lee is on the bracket but still can't actually wrestle, his replacement would come in at #6 spot and others would move up? There is a lot of hype about him being on a bracket and I have not seen anyone actually mention the possibility that an alternate could still come in before Saturday. That could happen, right?
  4. The trip costs $700 and it is at the same time as several other big tournaments. I know of a few of the selected wrestlers that could not do it for those reasons. Those issue would be there regardless of whether the wrestlers qualified by placement at state or were selected. I imagine that many wrestlers were contacted to fill the open spots and I believe that missing weights were posted on this board so some of those forfeits are probably for last minute reasons. I agree with the frustration over kids there for Freestyle but sitting for Greco although there are several plausible explanations for that.
  5. Where is there a list of the potential Junior Dual members team listed?
  6. What discounts are applied? The cost of these trips are a large reason that some kids cannot participate.
  7. I saw that and was going to ask but didn't want it to seem like I was making fun of him if that was really his name :-)
  8. I just looked at all of the tournaments from this weekend and each one had 1-2 wrestlers in my son's division/weight class. So in order to participate at FS/GR state, we have to drive to 2 of these tournaments, pay an entry fee for the wrestler and the family, and just get 1 or 2 matches quick matches? Can't we just mail the ISWA or a club a donation check instead? This seems like a major waste of time for the older kids and I believe the Junior Division will have even less wrestlers participating at state because of it.
  9. The fact that these wrestlers do not feel an obligation to be a part of the team is not only disrespectful to their team mates but I think the mentality overall adds to the things that hold our state back. I am sure some of them legitimately just cannot do it but the word on the street is that it's not the case with others. We had an opportunity to have a really competitive team this year and half of the first qualifiers are not attending. It's not fair to the others that are following through or to what our state is truly capable of representing. *I am not referring to anyone that chose to honor their loyalty to a team that they previously competed on or a knock on the guys that are moving in to take their place.
  10. This is awesome. Thank you for all you do.
  11. This tournament had about 3500 wrestlers competing with 46 states represented. Forgive me if I missed someone but this is what I found for the IN guys that were registered- Freshman 106 Ty Mills Brownsburg 6-1 finished 4th of 126 wrestlers 113 Blaze Lowery Perry DNP 113 Ryan Varner Penn DNP 138 Layne Coffman Lebanon DNP 170 Max Chaffee Penn DNP 195 Jacob McClain Lebanon finished 4th Sophomore 106 Kory Cavanaugh Penn finished 6th of 92 126 Breyden Bailey Cathedral finished 6th of 84 132 Kain Rust Perry Not sure 152 Cameron Amos Perry DNP 152 Jarod Swank Penn finished 4th of 64 160 Jalen Allen Perry DNP 195 Tristan Tonte Perry finished 6th of 39, it looks like he inj ff last match 220 Evan Ellis Eastern Greentown IN FINALS Junior 132 Logan Hurley Perry DNP 160 Denzyl Prentice Penn 3-2 DNP 195 Blake Rypel Cathedral IN FINALS 220 Blake Schjoll Perry 2-2 DNP 220 Kobe Woods Penn IN FINALS Senior 132 Brandon James Perry finished 4th
  12. CB and LPD- We all understand that you think Illinois wrestling is so far superior to Indiana that you went as far as sending your boys to school in IL and that is fine. Heck, the majority of the people on the board may even agree with you. However, the IN team can only wrestle who is put in front of them so the could have, would have, should have theory is not really relevant right now. Congrats to IN for winning against the team that IL brought.
  13. Where are Red and the Lees?
  14. I have read about the best matches and the inspiring wrestlers but I haven't seen a topic about the most dominating champion from this past weekend. What are your thoughts?
  15. How many guys made it past Friday from the schools that have a shot? Any early head to head match ups?
  16. I guess anything is possible but it's hard to overlook the fact that he took a 16-0 loss in the Semi-State Finals.
  17. Bailey(Cat) over Bocock (Leb) Stewart (Cat) over Steffey (Leb) by fall :33
  18. There was no lead, it was 1-1 and the match was decided on the stalling call. The first call came from Stewart not cutting Tonte fast enough on a stand up early in period 2. That one is not being debated, I am just explaining it so no one assumes he was hit twice in the 3rd for running in circles or something. Tonte had him in a collar tie and Stewart was pulling away from it when the call was made. Stewart had no more incentive to stall than Tonte did at that point in the match. This should have been decided in OT.
  19. If I recall correctly, last time Perry came to Cathedral, they didn't bring half of their starters. We are looking forward to good matches so hopefully they have respect and show up.
  20. Indianapolis Cathedral
  21. I recently heard that Mason, OH will be there.
  22. I thought Hipple was 195. If Hipple, went 220, who wrestled Rypel at 195?
  23. That should be fun to watch. I think Mechanicsburg has a stud at about 152/60 if Kaleb Romero is still there.
  24. Didn't 145 #16 Keaton Fainter beat #4 Blake Jourdan at Mater Dei? I thought I read that somewhere.
  25. Cathedral's 106 just started a few weeks ago. They forfeited 106 before against Franklin. No point difference there.
