Since no one else started it lets see who you think will win the NECC this weekend. The team race is really a race for 2nd between Central Noble, Garrett and Fairfield because Prairie Heights is the clear favorite. The individual races will also have some very good matches. I'll give you my picks and see what you think.

    106 SHEARER
    113 HOYER
    120 GLOGOUSKI
    126 LONG
    132 LUEVANO
    138 RASLER
    145 LESKOWYAK
    152 D. LEVITZ
160 DELONG ,    MAYBE A LITTLE BIAS HERE BUT HE DID BEAT LEVITZ EARLY IN THE SEASON
    170 BURNS
    182 BLAKELEY
    195 BECK DAVIS
    220 KILGORE
HWT AMOS, BUT IT WILL BE GOOD BETWEEN HIM AND DAVIS.

Well Delong did beat jed 9-5 at the super duel so its not a long shot.
Alright I'll give you a dec for Hoyer but Blake would at least get bonus points. Also I beleive the Kilgore/Mckeever match went to over time last time so it is definitely a toss up match.
Wow only 25 pins over the season is great. I think we have 2 kids with more pins then that, I guess thats why your such a good duels team.

boomer reacted to wrealwrestler101 in Division I
I feel as if lots of kids these days are getting caught up in the idea of being Division I athletes. While being a Division I athlete is stellar, it isn't the only level. I feel as if being a Division I athlete is something you should shoot for and to train like, but you don't have to become one. You see kids with their social media bios saying "D1 dreams" or "D1 bound", or something of that nature, but I wouldn't want my kids getting caught up in the idea of that. You should use collegiate athletic scholarships as a stepping stone into the next phase of your life and to help you earn an education. Some Division I institutions don't offer the things you're looking for in life. When you choose a college, you should choose one that you are most comfortable with. I don't care if you're a state champion, placewinner, semi-state, regional, or sectional qualifier. If you want to continue to wrestle in college, you should do as you wish, and you should still work hard. Kids who were semi-state qualifiers and don't necessarily get that shot at being a Division I athlete for a top program shouldn't be down and out. You can be a semi-state qualifier in high school and continue to wrestle in college at a D2, D3, NAIA, or Junior College and still train hard to win something big. You may want it even more then because you didn't have it in high school. You can still train and become a national champion. I hear kids too often who love the sport that don't make it out of semi-state or regionals and quit the sport because they believe they're no good. Sometimes, it's just not your time, but in college you can still train at a higher and more intense level to become an All-American or champion. If you become a Division III national champion, you're not any less of a national champion than a Division I or Division II or any more of a national champion than an NAIA or Junior College. I just don't want my kids to believe that they have to quit doing something they love because they didn't get a big time shot or get as far as they hoped.

Well..Bo will hate me for posting this, but I don't care.  I, my assistant coaches, the Garrett Community, his friends, and family are all extremely proud of him.  Bo has been an honor for the coaches at Garrett to coach.  He was a two time all state football player, valedictorian, and made two trips to state, including a 3rd place finish this year.

Bo was a very green wrestler as a freshman.  He had a losing record at 170 pounds.  This did not discourage Bo. Bo never missed offseason club, and certainly never missed any time in the weight room.  This season Bo did not win a sectional, regional, or semi state championship.  Most impressively, Bo wrestled a great match and beat the Al Smith Champion today in double overtime in the quarters.  What's most impressive about this is that Bo did not place at the Al Smith.  Bo overcame adversity and set his mind to winning a state championship.  Unfortunately, Bo did not win the state championship, but he certainly has set the bar high at Garrett and has been an outstanding role model for the Garrett School District.

Bo will continue his wrestling career at Indiana Tech next fall.  We at Garrett could not be more proud of Bo Davis.

Well as a coach who was sitting next to that alternate when Bryce went out and defaulted it was kind of confusing and hard to take. It denied our kid the experience of coming down just to save someones draw. Well i am glad the other kids that were hurt and couldn't compete let their alternates wrestle. Just very disappointed.

Just saw in the KPC news that Suzie just signed with Eastern Michigan. This is there first year of women's wrestling so she will be getting in on the ground floor with them. My son wrestled with her at practices over the last couple of summers and I was always impressed with how hard she worked. One time she spit her eye open on his knee that needed stitches. Instead of leaving she went to the bathroom, cleaned it up and wrapped tape around her head so she could continue practice. She could not see out of the eye but that did not stop her from wrestling. tough kid, I wish her all the best. I would have attached the article but I'm not that good with computers so maybe Y2 can add it. Good luck Suzie.

As the season gets underway, one of the great features of this website is the Dual Results page. This page can only be as good as members make it to be. Scores are great, but match by match details are way better. So please try to post as much information as possible, and not just the scores of the duals. This not only gives the fans a little more to read, but it can also be beneficial for the coaches around the state that are voting on the IHSWCA polls. There is a huge diference from seeing a team win 34-17, and seeing that they won 34-17 by accepting multiple forfeits.
