You are correct on all of the above. The Evansville Semi State will create some horrible draws for people at state, both from Evansville and people drawing into Evansville. Does a semi state champ want to draw into Rioux, Schaeffer, LaRocca or Feeler? Any of these guys could place 4th in Evansville.  Even Saturday morning looking at one of these four can't make you feel good.
The draw is always a huge determining factor for teams. Winning on Saturday morning for MD is a must for them to have a legitimate shot at BB or CP, but I think Schaeffer, Seng, May, and Ralph all have the ability to do so. I also think if Egli gets hot he has the ability to make it much further than most people think. Remember, he's a semi state champ from a year ago and would have likely placed pretty well had he not drawn into Cottey.
I can't wait to see how it plays out, but I agree we could see a record broken this year and I think the state finals are going to be very exciting.

Mater Dei will have about 50 points between just Sollars and Brody. Add in Schaeffer, Critchfield, May, Ralph, Seng, and Egli. The boys will be ready to roll and should not be counted out.

Yeah check 160 at Evansville. It's filthy. 4 of the top 5 ranked in the state and many other ranked wrestlers. Some very good wrestlers will be going home disappointed that day.

I expect to see this match 3 more times in the coming weeks. Both are great wrestlers. Should be fun.

I don't think you will see Hayhurst wrestle. Just a guess but I would be shocked if he is. I am pretty sure it is May's intention to go 152 for the remainder of the season.

*Sam Hansen is long gone, and won't be wrestling at 182.  His baby brother Luke will be at 182 on Wednesday night:-)

Just a quick update on Sam, the 2018 state runner-up at 195.  He is in his final year of seminary at Bishop Brute' here in Indianapolis.  He is studying to be a priest in the Catholic church and is completely happy. He'll be spending time and Creighton University this summer and traveling to the Holy Land in May.  When he returns he'll spend the next four years in formation at St. Meinrad Seminary in Southern Indiana.

The sacrifices he made in wrestling were always opportunities to grow closer to God, and I guarantee the homilies that he gives will be filled with stories about growing in his relationship with God through the life-changing sport of wrestling.

Please keep Sam in your prayers as he journeys towards ordination!

If we are looking at the entirety of their careers, in my opinion you start with NCAA champs and figure out your list from there based on international results.  For me, it would go something like this:

    1.  Andrew Howe
    2.  Angel Escobedo
    3.  Nick Lee
    4.  Jason Tsirtsis
    5.  Mason Parris

I would move Lee up maybe to #1 if he were to win title #2 this year.  Then factor in any international experience he gets in the coming years.  He will have a tougher time being the #1 guy than Parris will.

I would move Parris above Tsirtsis as soon as he wins a national title (likely next year).  He's the front runner for the world team this next olympic cycle with Gable going WWE.  How he does there will dictate where on the list he falls.  An NCAA title and and world/olympic medals would move him to #1.

IMO, if you don't wrestle in Indiana during HS, then we can't claim you.  Gable Steveson should not be on a list of Indiana's best ever.  He's a Minnesota guy.  David Taylor was born in Nevada, but he's an OH guy.

That, my friend, is loaded. However, as I am partial to EMD, I would put Seng at 113 and Sollars at 195. I know Purdy beat him earlier this year but I don't see it happening again. Either way, there are studs everywhere in that lineup.

Congrats to Crown Point.  Also, congrats to Indiana wrestling.  I’m proud that years ago we came together and made this event happen.  What a day of wrestling.

Huge shot out to Zeke Seltzer for bumping up to take on Mendez.  That alone made the entire event worthwhile.

Lastly, it sucks but we did take our strap down and that’s a team point.   It was the correct call.

Coming from an MD fan, it is hard to rely on 4 wrestlers to come up with bonus points for us. No fire at all.

From what I have gathered observing this website it is unlikely even the NSA/Uncle Sam can track all of Pistol Pete/Team Garcia's social media and message board handles. 🤣 But thank goodness for him, he makes the board far more entertaining. Could turn into a 25 page resume of handles.

Wow, the level of talent at 4A and the depth is unreal. I don't believe we've ever seen this many great teams at team state. There is no where to run or hide. Bumping kids up or down a weight class for a better matchup doesn't seem likely. Teams are just loaded top to bottom.
