  1. That's my biggest issue. We have been spoiled with only driving 10-15 minutes for sectional and regionals. Also, I don't see the reason for moving two of the stronger teams out of an already weaker sectionals.
  2. That is an amazing run. Especially moving so far up in weight.
  3. This was the first state finals I ever attended! Thanks coach Bink!
  4. I'll defend the Ky champions. KY Wrestling isn't as deep as Indiana, but the top 3 in each weight can compete in Indiana, they may not have many or any that can win a title but I don't think they would get blanketed.
  5. No doubt a very exciting and determined run by a capable senior. The scramble to a tilt he hit on rooks was amazing. Taking nothing away from the rest of the champions (and the field as well), I believe his run to a state title was the most amazing and unexpected (at least by me and most people from the Evansville area). Congratulations!!!
  6. Hands down, this was such an electrifying match. Everyone on their feet!
  7. Tough judgement calls both ways. Seems like for cathedral the calls evened out. At the time I really felt like both calls were incorrect. I would have rather seen both matches go into overtime and each wrestler earn it one last time. In overtime I think the outcomes would have been the same as the original outcomes. Bailey pulls it out for in overtime and rumph, who seemed to be better on his feet pulls out the overtime win. As a fan I really appreciate these young men leaving it all on the mat! On a side not, I think the original toss by melloh could have been awarded a takedown and 2 count for nearfal, but that was from my angle.
  8. So this is the fewest amount of people I've ever noticed at the finals.
  9. Quick question. In down town Evansville do you guys in force street parking on the weekends? Or is it OK to park on the street for the two hour parking?
  10. We can move semi state back to Seymour, it's an easy drive. Maybe New Albany can host it, that would be an even better drive. Better yet, if they are moving New Albany and Floyd Central out of the Jeffersonville sectional and out to Southridge, then maybe Jeffersonville will host Semi state and at least we will have one short drive for the series.
  11. My teammate threw a few tough cradles during the state series. I'm pretty sure he allowed his opponent to shoot for a single leg just so Mitch could sit on his butt and jamb a cradle.
  12. Yep! I do remember that match. I'm biased, I don't feel the stalling call was warranted. I don't understand how shoving a kid around the mat is considered offense. The ref decided the match and not the the kids that worked so hard to earn a regional title. I take nothing away from Fuller he won the match, but given the reaction by most people in the stands, I think most people would have rather let the kids decide the match and not the referee who must typically officiate sumo wrestling. I understand it is an exceptionally hard job, but the lack of inconsistency when making stalling calls (as a whole) is disappointing. I'm just sad an exciting match ended in overtime with a stalling call.
  13. I think for 1 single year it would have to go to DJ. I don't believe he has the total body of work as some of the others mentioned. But again, for one single year DJ was super human.
  14. I'm sorry, I stand corrected. I believe the official order states "any and all farming land/animals".
  15. I believe that statement is an oxymoron. Donnie Baker sneaks around everywhere, he is not allowed within 10,000 feet of any school, pig farm or light socket.
  16. I think the most important question is who makes it out of semi state. 106 I think with the right draw there's a shot 113 same, draw dependent 120 Def 126 Def 132 Def 138 Def 145 draw dependent 152 draw dependent 160 dram dependent 170 we could send 3 to state or 0 182 Sonnor punches his ticket 195 I think the "stashe" solidifies his ticket to state 220 draw dependent Hwy I think we could get 2 or 0
  17. Not a lot of chatter but definitely some competitive wrestling. There were a lot of competitive matchups that could do have gone either way. Some may have been considered upsets, but most kids have wrestled each other 4-5 times this year. Congrats to both Floyd Central and Jeffersonville for wrestling down to the wire for the team title. I'm proud of my dogs stepping up with 5 champions and sending 11 to regionals! I'll miss our 10 minute drive to sectionals and regionals next year. Not sure about the reasoning for moving arguably the best two teams out of an already weaker sectional, but oh well. We know what sectional/regional we will want to draw into. On another note, Chris Hinkle is doing good things with Pekin. I was very impressed with their progression and what he's been able to achieve in a short amount of time.
  18. Honestly there were some questionable calls, but not much more than I see every weekend. Some we win, some we loose. A few questionable calls didn't make me feel like the whole weekend was full of bad officiating.
  19. That's awesome! If I don't have family in town then I will def come watch/experience
  20. Brandon James. I'm sure he beat several state champs. He is also the only Indiana wrestler to beat Red.
  21. Amazing match. I was standing and bouncing the entire match. Props to Lee for challenging the absolute best in Indiana. Congratulations to Red for continuing to show why he is the best. I would have selfishly loved to see overtime.
