piscis1956 reacted to Powerline in Melloh and Mulkey
I heard the same thing this morning, might even be a IC grad.
At at least he saved Bobby Cox the need to come out of the stands and change the rules for the IC wrestler that shat himself at the New Castle semi-state

Agree. The question is, was he trying to improve his position. If he wasn't, it's stalling. Take everything else out of it. I watched it again. He made zero attempt to improve, and it wasn't being hindered by the other wrestler.

Maybe I’m in the minority here, but I too call stalling in that situation. Over 20 seconds of holding a front headlock just riding out a one point lead is stalling, no matter what stage you’re on.

piscis1956 reacted to runner-up in Melloh and Mulkey
Didn’t see the call. Will rewatch the match on Track Wrestling. But I did see the aftermath. No matter how bad a call is, a coach can’t behave like that.
No questions about it. He needed to be thrown out and hit with misconduct. It sucks that he can’t coach his other kids and his team will be penalized, but you simply can’t respond like that.
I’ve coached at tournaments run by Snyder and he has always seemed like a good guy. I imagine we will be seeing a sincere apology soon.
Let this be a lesson to any wrestlers and coaches watching.
You can’t react like that. You can’t lose your cool.
Best of luck to both wrestlers for the remainder of the tournament and during their college careers.

Fighting for your kid and acting like that are two different things. I can't imagine the words that actually came out of his mouth.

There is a way to fight for your kid w/ class and w/ out. Period.

I thought that was the best national anthem to happen in a good while. The girls did a great great job.

Fattore was spotted warming up with Rader before the finals. Not sure I have ever seen two guys that just wrestled in the semi-finals warm up with each other.

piscis1956 reacted to 1prouddad in Graber / Walton
I was really surprised that after the final takedown, there wasn't a sense of urgency on Waltons behalf. Down by 1 with around :15 left, his hands hit the mat. All year, he's been hard to hold down.

I should probably just let it be and move on, but the smart ass in me just isn’t letting that happen.
Nobody is making fun of Andrew, as a person or a wrestler. He was rolling all around for a majority of the match, I assume many others were like me and thought it was awesome that he kept trying it. Showed confidence and against almost any other 113 it would work. Relax a bit, man. You’re taking something that isn’t a personal attack at all as a personal attack.

piscis1956 reacted to Sydokun in Sprinting to get seats
I see both sides but at the same time teams should set together. Kinda odd 3 people setting in a sea of Portage if your kid is wrestling a portage kid. (nothing against Portage just the 1st name that came to mind and i have never had any issue with them. good people) Would be nice to have teams sectioned off and a lottery for the seats but doubt any schools knows how many people will come from that school and how many would be saved for them leaving a lot of blank seats and putting good seats to waste. With that said If you do try to save seats try to use reason. Get an idea before heading how many are coming and only save those as needed or maybe just your family in the same area don't do 10 rows or something dumb. Also if you do see people saving a seat just talk to them most people are willing to work with you. There could be a good reason as to why they might be saving a seat. I for one saved one last year for my Father he had back issue and i did not want him getting hurt in the crowed getting in, so he hung back. I got the seat and he came once it settled down.

piscis1956 reacted to headlock83 in Unsportsman Like Conduct Call on Peele
I am by no means a fan of Portage wrestling or their fans. However, I have a problem with the ULC call against Peele at the conclusion of his 120 championship against Triana. After the buzzer sounded, Peele did a celebration where he simulated snuffing out a cigarette butt with his foot. The two officials calling the match didn't make any call on it. An official in the chairs took offence to it and made the unsportsman like call. Granted, Portage was so far ahead, they could have deducted 40 points and it wouldn't have made a difference. My point is, what constitutes a celebration going too far. Peele didn't stand over his opponent in a taunting way, and I saw nothing too unsportsman like. I personally think it was an emotional call based on the success Portage was having yesterday. I fail to see a difference in what this kid did and the many kids I have seen throw their ankle bands in the air and simulating shooting them with a gun, or doing a back flip. The kid was happy he had won and celebrated. The rules either need to be more clear, or all forms of celebration should be banned which would be ridiculous. I didn't get the call. If that point would have meant the difference of a team championship, this would have been an atomic bomb of a topic. On a side note, Portage did show up to wrestle. I haven't seen semi state domination like that since the Snyder coached Michawaka days.

Great preview! I disagree in some areas, but that's cool. Good luck to everybody this weekend! Just a little more to those 8 with HSE on their singlets.

Curious to know the total enrollments for the schools at each semi state. Does the success of each semi state correspond with the size of the tallent pool?

I used Y2's data table with all schools split 1A-3A. If I know where the split it, it would be easy to change it to a 2 class table though
