I'm sure that made for a good trip

They walked away, then they came back wanting to finish the match. When they were told that the Brownsburg match was over they didn't show for any more matches.

I'm sure we've all been there a time or two when life gets really hard. You have bills to pay, a family to support, and you're trying your best to keep up, then something happens and the car has problems or the roof is leaking or whatever. For me, that's when I reach down into my own soul and say "I can do this, I've been through tougher situations, harder practices, weight control, and tough as nails matches. I can do this." I'm not saying my problems magically go away but they do seem more manageable from this perspective. This is what I find most valuable about wrestling, it teaches you to deal with problems and issues, as you said, there are no time outs, no substitutions, just you and your "opponent". In life, I'm not saying I'm undefeated but I'm still in the tournament!

I totally agree.  Not many people know this but 11 years ago I was diagnosed with cancer. As a former wrestler and now a wrestling official I took this attitude.

Ok, Doctors what can we do about it and when do we start?

I was given a schedule that was an 8 week timeline filled with radiation and chemo. I circled the last treatment day on my calendar and told myself that 2 weeks before my last treatments until 2 weeks after my last treatments I was going to be as sick as I ever going to be.  2 weeks after the last treatments I was going to start getting better. I knew going into this and that these were the cards that I was dealt. 2 weeks after my treatments I slowly started getting better and since I have fully recovered.

To me this is what wrestlers (and former wrestlers) do.

    To quote Ahawkeye

"Cancer" was my opponent in life, and I'm not saying I'm undefeated but I'm still in the tournament"

    Good luck to all.

Saw some good duals yesterday.  What were some thoughts on the outcome?

    Mine are.....

CP was the clear favorite.  I thought Avon deserved a higher place than they got (5th) but I know that's how the cookie crumbles with the brackets.

Pool A was a crazy bracket - MD, PM, EC and BB.

EC beat Brownsburg 52-45.  MD beats Perry 52-31.  Perry beats BB 72-25.  Then BB turns around and takes it to the last match vs MD but loses to MD 36-33. PM defeats EC 54-39 in another close one.  That was a wild pool. 4 Solid teams.

I didn't get to watch a lot of the other matches in the other pools, but did see some close ones going on.  CG vs Franklin for 3rd and 4th was wild.

Overall I thought it was a pretty good day of wrestling.  Congrats to all the kids who competed and to CP for winning ANOTHER championship.

Elementary Champs.  Middle School Champs.  IHSWCA Team champs.  Can they bring home another IHSAA individual championship in a couple weeks!?

    Pretty wild.

Didn't New Pal win Elementary Duals? I know it was between NP & CP and I was there but forgot who won.

Could someone give me a reminder of the rules in regards to long hair now? It's changed a lot in the last several years and I can't find my rule book.

Rule 4-2 sec 2 (in part) Physical hair treatment items that are hard and/or abrasive such as (beads, bobby pins, barrettes, pins, hair clips, etc. or any other hair control device) shall not be permitted. A legal device hair-controlled such as rubber band(s) shall be secured so as not to come out readily during wrestling. A wrestler may contain his/her hair in a legal hair cover. The legal hair cover, if worn, shall be attached to the ear guards. A bandanna is not considered legal hair covering. The legal hair covering must be of a solid material and be nonabrasive. The wrestler opting to wear a legal hair cover must wear it to the weigh-in procedure and be checked for grooming with it on. The legal hair cover must be removed prior to the wrestler stepping on the scale to be weighed. If the referee is not present at weigh-ins, the hair cover must be checked by the meet referee upon arrival at the site.

He’s been in isolated confinement in TheCounty Pit of Misery for betrayal never to be seen in TheCounty .The Wrestling People found him guilty of wearing a Non TheCounty class jacket at last year Final TheCounty Championships. That incident brought a end to that tournament and it was linked to Fabio Class Jacket .

Therefore ...... he’s in LOCK UP ! No you LOCK IT up... I said LOCK IT UP now Pit of Misery .

    The Notorious

He’s due to be released on Feb. 15th  2019 .

My question is during a dual meet, can I have some wrestlers wear a traditional singlet and have others wear a 2-piece singlet?

    Thanks for the clarification!

    Coach Weimer

I am not a rules interpreter but the answer is YES

  7. Does anyone know who were the 2 wrestlers at I believe 182lbs that collided on mat #9 Saturday? And more importantly How these 2 young men are? I know the both had concussions and it was a very bad situation. I hope both young men are doing better.

  8. Sunday I was at a meet in Brownsburg talking to a wrestler and his dad. I asked the wrestler if he knew who Brayton was and he said "Yes i was wanting to get his autograph."

I called Brayton over and introduced the wrestler to him. Brayton could not have been nicer and talked with the young wrestler for a few minutes.

    CLASS ACT! !

    Thanks Brayton
