  1. Sharing an update on him. Thoughts and Prayers for a speedy recovery. We wanted to let everyone know that Parker is now home resting from surgery. Thank you for all of the prayers and well wishes from those of you that were aware of his situation. I intentionally have not posted about this, as this has been a very emotional situation for all of us. For our friends and family who were not aware, for the past 8 months Parker has been battling a debilitating condition with his hands that has affected his ability to perform daily tasks, including his passion to wrestle. Parker’s hands would turn purple and go numb during activity, and would become extremely painful. He loses all grip strength and the ability to squeeze his hands. We were so lucky that after 4 months of numerous tests with cardiologists, rheumatologists, and hand surgeons, Parker was finally able to get a clear diagnosis from one of the top Vascular Surgeons in the country for Thoracic Outlet Syndrome. Parker was confirmed to have both bi-lateral Venous and Neurogenic TOS. Neurogenic TOS is caused by compression of the brachial plexus nerve roots (C5 to T1) within the scalene triangle, the space above the collarbone where the two scalene muscles come down from the neck and attach to the first rib. This was causing the pain and numbness. Venous TOS is caused by subclavian vein compression between the clavicle and first rib. This was causing discoloration and swelling. We guess Parker hit the jackpot, not only having both types, but also being bilateral. Although this is an extremely rare condition, it is somewhat common among MLB pitchers, competitive swimmers, and gymnasts. Yesterday morning Parker underwent successful surgery on the right side of his body first. They made an incision above the clavicle to completely remove his first rib and the two scalene muscles that were attached to it. Through a small second & third incisions below the collarbone, they also released the tendon of the pectoralis minor muscle and opened the space all the way through the thoracic outlet for the brachial plexus nerves. We are happy to say that Parker has just been released to come home. Within minutes of waking up, he couldn’t believe how “normal” he said his right hand felt. We will not know how greatly affected the left side is and or damaged for approximately 6-8 weeks. At that time, a decision will be made by the surgeons to potentially go in and repeat the exact same surgery. Luckily for Parker he did not have any damage to his subclavian veins and no evidence of a blood clot. The rehabilitation is a difficult one, and Parker is looking at the possibility of having to do it twice. But if there is anyone out there who can do it, we all know that it is Parker. In true Parker fashion, he asked to keep his “rib” so that he can make a chain out of it : ) We do not know what the near future holds competitively for our son, but we do know that with Gods strength and Parker’s determination, he will come back from this better than ever. Thank you for everyone’s prayers. Below Parker wanted to share with everyone his rib.

  2. First of all hate is such a divisive word. Secondly he is not a baby: he is a 60 year old child. His kind can live to be 900 years old. So quit calling him a baby because he is older than most of us on here. Lastly: his name is Grogu; not Yoda! May the 4th be with you.

    Sectional Wrestlers

If you went back a ways ((pre-late 1990s?) before the creation of the current format, there was a time when only the two finalists went to Regionals. All it took was three good schools, and many very good kids would finish their year after the semifinals. One such example was the old Brebeuf Sectional. in the late 1980s and through the early1990s Cathedral, North Central, and Chatard were all top 15 teams. Then throw in Brebeuf's three or four very tough kids, and the semifinals were full of great wrestling.

  5. Prior to the 1971-1972 seasons, sectionals were quite large and only one participant from each weight advanced out of the sectional. I think it was in the late 60’s (68?) sectional, there was a wrestler from Muncie South whose last name was Metcalf. He may well have been the 2nd best heavyweight in the state. Many certainly expressed that as an emphatic opinion for sure. Unfortunately for him, he was in the same sectional as Muncie Central’s legendary and future Olympian “Pete” Lee.

  7. Well, I for one remember Hunter Hughes and the other really good teammates Jeffersonville had back then … but as he said there were some holes in the lineup due to forfeits. Indeed I agree that Hunter would have to be considered one of the greatest wrestler not to make it to state. It was really surprising watching him wrestle at Connersville each year but not seeing him at state.

  9. I have absolutely no idea what this thread is about nor how I fit into it...however, getting tagged by UncleJimmy is a lovely way to start my Saturday morning:} Good to know you are starting to think about class wrestling, even when I am not around...thinking maybe some seeds of agreement are starting to sprout...

    Transfer portal thread

I definitely hate it for a school or program, to bring a kid into their ,program by a vigilant coach ,where he was a relative unknown, and give him a stage to perform, and then stolen by a coach who knew nothing about him. Because he has money. Lazy man recruiting.

    Super heavyweight class?

I think the weights are weird already. I understand there are not 100 pounders everywhere. or 97 pounders but they do exist we should definitely have a smaller weight than 106. I think that would help on kids that are not making that 106 weight to at least wrestle and be competitive. Also the weight Shifting around instead of adding another weight class or 2 just pushes the inevitable off. There needs to be more weight Classes! 100,106,113,120,126,132,138,145,152,160,170,182,195,215,240,285,285+...No alpha weight at Super Heavy. Some of the belly aching * it takes too long to get through a meet. but really we have kids that are not wrestling at higher and lower weights. I understand that this hurts smaller schools that don't have as many kids to fill spots. But in order to, "GROW" our sport we need to still make accessible to everyone trying to play/compete. and Kids in this day and age come in all sorts of sizes. Just my opinion.

  14. At Hobart, we have a sports mural in our field house. Previously, Hobart had 21 sports represented in this mural. With the addition of girls wrestling, and boys volleyball there had to be additions to the mural. Girls wrestling on our sports mural forever. Even better that the art is based off Hobart's first ever girls wrestling state placer, Keirys Click.

  17. There was another guy named Josh Stith on our team who was the only guy in the State to beat Josh Holden, who was outstanding and also won the State. Josh Stith could throw anybody. I mean anybody
