  1. Nosko vs. Baumann would be wild for sure. I'll take Baumann though with a late lat drop to secure the win. And I'll take Maurer over Sollars by 3.

  2. Come watch former WWE star "The Boogeyman" in action Sunday May 16th at 2:00pm in the Bubp Building at the Jay County Fairgrounds as the DCCW puts on a show for the Jay County Wrestling Club.

    IHSAA Proposals

    If a 5th place from SS gets added and the 5s face the 4s in a state finals prelim for the right to see the 1s, those round of 16 matches will be spicier for the 1s for sure. A while back I researched all state finals underclassmen FOLLOWING season performances. The 5th placers at state (who are 3-1 against top competition that day), finish higher on average than the 4th placers (who are 2-2) the next season. In fact, they're more similar to the 3s. The same certainly holds true at semi-state. We would see the SS 5s beat the 4s at state significantly more than half the time and filter out the "lucky draw" 4th place state qualifiers that 1s face sometimes in the Round of 16.

    IHSAA Proposals

    My comments are in red 9) WRESTLING COACHES PROPOSALS JD Minch, Gary Myers of Hamilton Heights, and Danny Struck of Jeffersonville, all representing the Indiana High School Wrestling Coaches Association (IHSWCA), spoke to the rules proposals listed below for consideration. Proposal 1: Add Girls Wrestling as an IHSAA sanctioned sport. Common sense Proposal 2: Reduce the wait time between competition from 45 minutes to 30 minutes. (the coaches association withdrew this proposal as this will be part of the NFHS rules change process). No need to have 45 minute wait, but needs to be done at NFHS level Proposal 3: Expansion of state tournament from 16 competitors per class to 20 competitors per class. They would need to have the pseudo wrestle-backs like they did about 8 years ago. Also this could make for some interesting matches at state if the #1 comes in cold and the 4/5 winner gets a match underneath them. Proposal 4: Allow tenths of a pound to be removed from a qualified weigh in. Good, we should not demand kids 15-18 years old have to manage their weight to the tenth of a pound. No decision was made on these proposals but will be considered and voted upon at the June 25, 2021 meeting.

  5. The Fort Wrestling Facility should be coming online at the beginning of June barring no construction issues. We are located in Fort Wayne 3 minutes off of I69. We will be hosting live wrestling nights, local academies, meet the coach sessions, open facilities, camps, and clinics. For June and July we have Tom Ryan, Logan Stieber, and Purler camps coming your way and sign ups are open. Check us out at https://thefortwrestling.com. You can also see the progress of the build out at https://www.facebook.com/wrestlefortway and Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/wrestlefortway/ The whole goal is to bring more training opportunities to the area. Any support is appreciated.

  7. I'm not sure Nosko could handle the pace that Baumann would bring. Baumann wins by 5 points or so. I think Boarman wins comfortably vs Scott. For comparison's sake, Alex Tsirtsis completely mauled Scott by tech fall in the semis in '03. Boarman wrestled a comparable (probably an even better) opponent in the semi's this year and while the outcome wasn't in doubt, he made mendez work for it. I just don't think Scott was near the same level that Boarman is. Boarman wins comfortably, possibly even by major.

  8. I don't see Nosko getting tossed, he was very savvy every where but Baumann is a physical yet technical stud at the same time and I think his strength would be the difference paired with his speed..Nosko could hit big moves every where and time and time again did stuff to show he was never out of a match... Almost like Bill nye science guy that would tech you while smiling being respectful yet dominant lol

  9. Hayhurst vs Lehman would be money too..Nosko was ice cold and his mat IQ was top notch..Baumman is a monster and would put a pace on him..Milius was a specimen and a takedown machine into until he ran into Noskos chin Whip! So many great match ups and I'm telling you Aaron Scott and Boarman is another sleeper that goes either way.. Seeing then both a ton, i like that match up with Boarman in a tight one.

    We had 93 teams represented at the girl's regionals this year. Here are the IHSAA by-laws pertaining to a championship series. 1-2 Recognized Sports The following sports are recognized and regulated: Boys – Baseball, Basketball, Cross Country, Football, Golf, Soccer, Swimming, Tennis, Track and Field, Wrestling; Girls – Basketball, Cross Country, Golf, Gymnastics, Soccer, Softball, Swimming, Tennis, Track and Field, Volleyball; Unified Sports© - Track and Field, Flag Football. 1-3 Championship Tournament Series A championship tournament series will be provided at such time as Fifty percent (50%) of the total, full Membership Schools are participating in that sport at the same time of the year and it is recommended by the Commissioner. NOTE: Applies only to those sports not listed as recognized and regulated in rule 1-2. 1-4 Annual Sport Qualification Review Sports which no longer qualify under the Twenty-five (25%) standard will be reviewed annually for purposes of determining future tournament and recognition status.

    I'm not familiar with IHSAA by-laws and practices for adding sports--don't like two thirds of members have to have a program for it to be a sport? (And isn't girls' participation somewhat lower than that mark still?) Or do they announce the provisional sponsorship of the sport when there's enough momentum and then see if enough programs are added for it to become permanent?

    Title IX is not as simple as having the same amount of sports. It's about creating equal opportunities. Football throws this number off because of how many kids are on the team. No female sport has the equivalent of football. Athletics programs are considered educational programs and activities. Participation: Title IX requires that women and men be provided equitable opportunities to participate in sports. Title IX does not require institutions to offer identical sports but an equal opportunity to play;

  15. FWSS will have a few more placers in the coming years and I’m confident some of the changes that are happening will produce better wrestling as a whole from our SS.

  16. Looks interesting, might have to put it on a map to look at it clearer. I do enjoy how everyone wants to make their case to come to Fort Wayne. It must be the best semi-state if everyone wants to figure out a way to get there.

  17. Bremen goes to East Chicago whereas Northwood who is 10 minutes down the road goes to Fort Wayne. Warsaw goes to East Chicago as well. In order for them to get to Penn for the Regional they have to pass Northwood and Jimtown, who both go to Fort Wayne. It makes no sense. Both Bremen and Warsaw should be going through the Fort Wayne Semi-State.
