Tommy is an absolute stud and a great kid to boot.
I can promise you one thing, Mr. May wanted any draw but Tommy.
Be the bad draw!
Your boy was the bad braw last year!!!!

What people fail to realize when discussing bad ticket round matchups is that this is how we class wrestling and benefit small schools. With the current setup, it's a lot easier for a kid to pull one upset, or get one good draw, and make it to state. The odds of that kid going to state go way down if he pulls that upset or advances with a good draw, loses in the semis, and then has Tommy Gibbs in the new blood round.
And here we go!!! Ding ding ding… class wrestling debate starts now!!!

A thought, if athletes were not moving into these power schools from other locations, would that change how much of a meatgrinder the Evansville SS is?
If this is going to continue, and there is only reasonable expectation that it will, then there should be adjustments to allow for wrestlebacks...or policies on transfers that concentrate top talent at a few schools.
I am confused. Does Brownsburg want to go to the northern semi state to compete with CP? I don't think Mater Dei or CG have a choice due to obvious location. If there is a concentration of talent in a few schools, is it not reasonable that you are going to get tough draws at semis?
Brownsburg is closer to all three other semistates. With that said, it wouldn’t make sense for Brownburg not to go to Avon sectional. I guess we could shoot over to Crawfordsville on I-74??? That will never happen.

I'm wondering what the policy is on being able to leave and comeback? Gainbridge hasn't been very accommodating with this since we went to the split session.
We typical leave after ticket round at semi state to get a little “soda” to unwind and go back. So im guessing it will be the same.

@Dave Cloud … When will individual academic all state be posted?

Is the Ford Center still cash only? I remember last year Semi State it was 100% cash only and the ATM's were having issues at one point.
Thanks
Dont know, but…. Just don’t take ANY food! They confiscated breath mints out of a mom’s purse. I swear!!!

The IHSAA is in the process of ruining postseason wrestling with how they hold the brackets etc.
When will the real brackets be released? and by real, I mean the Indianamat brackets with records and rankings!!??!??
Just take the two sectionals and cross them over. They are all already set.

Just curious if there is any other sectional with a bigger enrollment discrepancy than the Crawfordsville Sectional? Zionsville has 2242 students and the next biggest school is Crawforsdville at 696. How the IHSAA placed them in that sectional is beyond me.
Yeah…. no doubt…. they should add one or two more big schools to make them closer to the Indy area meat grinders

Agreed never perfect. When you travel out of state, wrestle all over chasing that tough competition that some schools dont have the opportunity to, you do loose some seeding criteria. It is what it is and like you said not perfect.
But are you saying you okay with teams exploiting the replacing a seeded wrestler rule intentionally?
First I’ve heard of that rule. I have no clue. I’m just a middle school coach.
Just pointing out other factors. But just think differences in strength of schedules plays in more then replacing kids. Just an uneducated opinion.

Weaker schedules get kids better seeds more times then replacing kids. It is what it is. It will never be perfect.

Cohen Weitrich from New Pal should at minimum be notable mention. 7th grader who is a man child. Former state champ, has won two consecutive team titles with dragon wrestling club, and plays on the All-Indiana football team.
Cohen is a cousin of my kids (Brewer brothers). Tough kid going to make big noise the next couple years.

It would be nice if large teams like Brownsburg varsity #2 could go through the state tournament. They'd win some sectionals and advance some through regionals and possibly semi state. I am not sure how good CP #2 V is.
Our varsity 2 could have 3 or 4 state qualifiers. IMO
