  1. How many people watch these vs. read posts on the forum?
  2. So a 4x champ will always be put ahead of a 3x time champ, regardless of anything else? Performance on the national stage doesn't matter? Tsirtsis is obviously one of the most decorated wrestlers ever, but I would put Howe above some 4xers. I would probably put Sliga above some 3xers, maybe even 4xers. Micic is one of the best to ever to wrestle in Indiana.
  3. Agreed. Micic is one of our all time greats. We should be proud!!!
  4. Congrats to the IHSAA team state champs Indianapolis Cathedral.
  5. Even FW could get to 7 although probably a stretch. A few more likely than others but some decent draws: Pepple Early (avoids Micic/Lee) Glogouski (avoids Red/Lahue) Carroll (avoids Kelley/Macri) Heistand (avoids Corsaro) Johnson Miller Hemmelgarn Sorry didn't mean to hijack Merrillville thread
  6. This is why you can't consider the winners true State Champions. You can't have something not sanctioned by the IHSAA a state championship. Of course, the IHSAA doesn't care because they look at it like a regular season tournament. Why would they not give their blessing? They don't recognize these winners as State Champions.
  7. #1 Carr vs. Harper Some other more recent ones I've been excited about: Eppert/Wright, Micic/Boston rematch, Jackson/Tsirtsis, etc. I think LeCount/Forte has a chance to be up there. Tsirtsis/Quiroga and Micic/Lee would've been awesome under the lights as well.
  8. Cosign. Scotty's is my favorite stop. Weber Grill, PF Changs, Rock Bottom, etc.
  9. So divide north and south using the football classifications? Carmel, HSE, etc. go North. Most Indy schools are considered south so they may have an advantage. How about this dual? (only an example there could be many other guys in certain spots) North South 106 Reitz Konrath 113 Crary Smith 120 Sinkovics Red 126 Micic Lee 132 Carithers Wilson 138 Hughes Lykins 145 Forte LeCount 152 Macri Kelley 160 Hughes Corsaro 170 Osborn Stevenson 182 Jankowski Rypel 195 Johnson Moss 220 Robinson Faulkenberg 285 Streck Bernard
  10. Read this somewhere else on the board so I won't take credit. Many people are comparing this to Tsirtsis-Quiroga, but isn't it more likely it's Howe-Humphrey? No shame in being a 3-time champ (it it works out that way), with you're only loss as a freshman to a nationally ranked 3x champ who's a senior.
  11. 106: Konrath over Egli 113: Smith over Ferguson 120: Red over Sinkovics 126: Micic over Davis 132: Wilson over James 138: Hughes over Lykins 145: Forte over LeCount 152: Macri over Carroll 160: Corsaro over Hughes 170: Stevenson over Osborn 182: Rypel over Jankowski 195: Johnson over Moss 220: Robinson over Miller 285: Bernard over Hemmelgarn
  12. Not sure Cashe is going to sneak up on people. Flo has him ranked 9th, plus he's a former AA.
  13. Surprised Flo has IU ranked 14th. I guess they assume Walsh and Chalfant will score a lot at the NCAA's, but still don't think they are the 14th best team in the country.
  14. We don't have a team state series anymore. We have a regular season team tournament with a champion at the end. We only have one state championship team and unfortunately that's who the IHSAA crowns at the conclusion of the individual state series. Hopefully, the IHSAA sees the success of the IHSWCA-run team event and decides to bring it back. Kudos to the IHSWCA for this though. Something is better than nothing.
  15. So if Penn State scores more during the NCAA tournament, we should consider Minnesota National Champs this year, right?
  16. 106 1. Glogouski 2. Franklin 3. Weimer 4. Wright 113 1. Pepple 2. Willis 3. Becker 4. Huff 120 1. Glogouski 2. Miller 3. Gayfield 4. Maddox 126 1. Wilson 2. McCormick 3. Early 4. Vaughn 132 1. Chafin 2. Lovejoy 3. Schmucker 4. Shipley 138 1. Krumlauf 2. Ellinger 3. Hinkle 4. Garrett 145 1. Loe 2. Arney 3. Weimer 4. Baxter 152 1. Carroll 2. Gaddis 3. Wilms 4. Garman 160 1. Hiestand 2. Sadilek 3. Joest 4. Guerra 285 1. Hemmelgarn 2. Hager 3. Smith 4. Perkins
  17. Interesting that some teams put on emphasis on duals and super duals (Yorktown -- 29 dual matches) and others I presume wrestle more individual tournaments (EMD -- 13 dual matches).
  18. Go back to only the top three advancing. You should have to win 2 matches to make it to SS but I forgot for a moment that the IHSAA only cares about money and not the best interests of the sport.
  19. Wants to concentrate on international wrestling success. Another Henry Cejudo type move. Although he's making it earlier.
  20. Many officials aren't strong enough to stand up to coaches.
  21. Which is why the Ihswca duals crown a fictional team state champion. Unfortunately the only one that matters is the one recognized by the Ihsaa. They can't seem to nail down who the best teams are in 2a and 1a (even some deserving 3a teams turned it down). They also can't seem to properly classify? We all agree Yorktown still wins 2a, but that shouldn't prevent us from getting the best teams there.
  22. Good point. Those powers at be are definitely beyond reproach. They always do what's best for a sport.
  23. Serious? Short vocab lesson: a devil's advocate is someone who, given a certain argument, takes a position he or she does not necessarily agree with, for the sake of debate. I never said I agreed with point of view, but isn't that what some/many coaches believe whether they admit it or not? The mindset that there's no greater good to be accomplished, just how I can help the kids in my program be the most successful?
  24. Playing devil's advocate: Yes, coaches should have an overall respect for the sport and try to have the best kids separated, but at the end of the day you should try to do what's best for your kid. Who cares if it's fair for a kid at another school. You have no loyalty to anyone else in the tournament who doesn't wear your teams' singlet.
  25. Pretty sure that dude isn't from Whitko since every post is about Rochester.
