Big shout out to RWA for finishing 5th as a team at Cedar Falls, competing with 17 wrestlers. Not too shabby boys!

Region Wrestling Academy has continued to get better and better, the coaches are SUPREME. The rooms (little tykes, middle schoolers, and High Schoolers) are stacked with talent. Congratulations!

sorry dude. IMO a swing and miss on drew hughes as 2nd runner up. Red is #1 at 132 and won his 4th. But hughes has done it all this season both during and after the hs season. he has been a road warrior as well maxing out his frequent flyer miles "making weight" and winning. Getting his college plans set hasn't slowed him down either. There is NO "dig me" in this kid.  For me if there's a face of IN wrestling the we project to the national wrestling community in 2016 I'll take Drew Hughes!   All that and a bag a chips!!

It's not about "proof" of anything. you accept the match and all the comp stuff, flight, hotel, food, gear... and put your teammates and entire group in a very embarrassing situation.
It wouldn't seem to be how a "#1" rolls.

I watched 2 years ago as this kid struggled at the sectional. His work ethic has vaulted him to the top. This kid respects the sport and it shows in his humble demeanor. Fantastic job Jake!!

In reality it seems this has hurt freestyle attendance in IN. The ISWA needs to see and understand this mistake and make it right. The old qualifying rule was much better. Why the hell would a kid have to qualify in freestyle and not folkstyle??? Just plain foolish and hurting the wrestling community at the same time. The ISWA has made some good moves recently, this is not one of them. We could bite the bullet and quality at one tournament but to spend the $$ to travel to another then do it again for FS State is basically holding interested wrestlers and their parents hostage. Im not wild about the boycott thing but in this situation it might be absolutely called for, and the right way to show your displeasure.

Very well run this year. Juniors started at 8am. 33 wrestlers at 138 and 45 wrestlers at 145 and we were out by 2:30. Kind of tough with only 20 mins between matches after the third round. But they did keep it moving. Well worth attending.

Ok. Spot a region guy:
 
10- Kid wrestled in more IKWF events than ISWA
9- Chooses to wear black leather coat (not bibs)
8- 3rd or 4th generation Latino American
7- wife could coach intricately from the 4 th row with out saying "get em" or "that's what I'm talking about"
6-Can order anything on a Mexican menu in Spanish
5-Has a full set of teeth (sometimes braces too) well into his 40s
4- Works in an industry where people sometimes lose their life
3-Can make a "run for the border" at halftime on Sunday and see the 3rd quarter start
2-May be driving the wrong way on a one way in downtown Indy
 
And the number one way to possibly identify a wrestling fan from the Region:
He may be an NCAA Champion or All American!

1 way to spot someone not from the region....Talking smack about the region 

I do love the tough nosed attitude of the region,  and the region loves a little fun poked at it once in a while. 

I think the number one way to identify a Region wrestling fan is to look for the guys cheering for the winners on Saturday night..
