Great job all the Indiana guys. We tried catching all the matches. I guess 8 don’t understand how it’s ran. We beat the champion and beat th3 kid 11-2 who beat the kid who got third. Finished 3-1 and finished 9th. Doesn’t matter I guess. We wen5 to wrestle some nationally ranked kids and get better. Great event

Clint Gard I agree 100 percent on your reply about officiating like this at the state tournament. I understand we’re in need of officials and as a licensed referee I understand mistakes are made but what we saw last weekend was let’s just sat bad at best. For example we had a match against Jordan Slivka and let me say Jordan is a friend, a great family and deserved the win. Jordan beat us 2-1 in o.t. and deserved it. I’m just pointing out we did a go behind....knees and hand on the mat and under the arms and ref said know takedown. What upset me is when I went to the table....(no swearing, no yelling just talking he threatened me out of the tournament and it wasn’t debatable. Plamen Paskalev a two time Olympian and medalist was in the corner and said that’s just embarrassing. He sent the video to coach Tom Ryan at Ohio state and div 1,2 and 3 refs and they all said everytime it’s two. It’s not the fact the referee didn’t call it cause it was a quick thing it’s the fact the refs don’t care. I talked to refs there and was told after they saw the film it’s simply a judgement call and every ref is different. Than why have rulebooks. If your a ref I respect what you do.....but if you don’t know what your doing stay out of the state tournament. Learn what, how when and where things are to be done. Graham got some calls for him as well that should not have been in matches. It’s just hard to coach when you have young refs that has no clue on the rules.

Someone please clarify this to me. We took a wrestler who went through weighins and skin check. The “dr.” Looked at the spot....examined it and said it’s fine just keep it wrapped. He wrestled twice and then the third match the official asked him to unwrap it and they then  said he couldn’t wrestle anymore. In my opinion a refund should be given back to this family. Is this in the “norm” for an official to do this after passing skin check?

We are in the East Chicago semi state which I believe is tough every year. Saying this, I hear people bash and mock Fort Wayne etc. Every semi state has very tough weights and some that may not be as strong but every one of those semi state qualifiers deserve a lot of kudos! Love this time of year hearing all the talk on here.

That was my only point. If we say a kid is going to be really hard to beat that’s agreed on

I think your putting a lot of unneeded pressure on Carson. There are many studs in there. Fattore, warren and a few others as well. Carson is a stud and more than that a great kid. Have had the joy to wrestle on his teams many times and have seen him beat multiple national studs. Fattore and Warren and the others have as well. Just hate to see pressure on a kid when at that level they all know they have to wrestle their very best to compete for a championship.

Please dont take this wrong but what is wrong  with shaking hands before the dual at face offs, then you shake hands before the match but if you watch college they  shake hands after the dual is over. This going over to other side after match is not a big deal. It’s competition and after the dual is over you shake hands and say good go!

Always some good teams and matchups. It’s my favorite tournament. John McKee was a coach for me in football and wrestling. Was a great friend and has a great family. Coach Gard does a great job and for a bonus.....hands down has the best coaches hospitality room in the state! It’s like Thanksgiving Buffett in December.

By the way I’m all for sportsmanship in every way but you have two great programs here that battled their butts off. Tensions get high... etc. I just personally think we’ve hugged and shake hands enough before the match. Shake opponents hand and go to your corner and shake everyone’s hand afterwards. We shake hands after every match with opponents coach but not offended if they dont

I can tell you as a father it’s been a joy raising our 4 boys. From having our oldest who died from a drug overdose for over 8 minutes before the Lord did a miracle down to our youngest Graham, there is nothing that means more than knowing all 4 love and serve the Lord. When my wife Cammie and I got the news Kyle had died in an overdose the first person we called was coach Read. The first person who poured into Kyles life when we flew him from Texas back to Indiana was coach Read. Micah who is on staff as our prayer pastor who went to state with Graham last year met weekly for prayer and bible study early in the morning with coach Read. It’s awesome having coaches like Bob Read and Ryan Rust and Travis Meister that cares more about a kid off the mat than on. All us coaches have a great opportunity to build character and integrity in these young men but we need to realize it starts with our own first. Love the fact we get the opportunity to pour into lives. By the way.....I don’t know a coach that hates losing and loves winning more than ours as well. God has been really good to the wrestling family for many years here in Plymouth. Blessings
