Just for nostalgia...I'll start my two favorite Kevin Whitehead names of IHSAA State Finals of the past.
 
TEEEEEEE. JAYYYYYY HAYES!!!!!!!!
It was a couple years of that and it got louder every year.  When I moved to Indy I remember meeting the Wagners in Zionsville's room.  My first thought was "that's the guy that ruined Mr. Whitehead saying TJ Hayes"
 
Mr. Whitehead was also spectacular announcing Anton Talamantez.  

If you are a wrestling fan that doesn't go to other IHSAA sports' championships, then you don't know how lucky we are. Every year I went to the gymnastics state finals, I would be so mad at how unprofessional the announcer was--mispronouncing names, giving NCAA basketball updates over the PA, making jokes about names being weird, and countless other things I've made myself forget. 
 
I asked Whitehead to "announce" a video of my mom's team receiving their state championship trophey, and he sent me back two versions of him belting out the jams.  What a great announcer, and what a great man for making the moment special. 
 
I'll include the video with Whitehead's audio, because my mom and sister make me really proud, and also to show that Whitehead is a complete badass who rages to make things great for people. His part starts at 4:15 in case the link doesn't take you there.

On Facebook Kevin made it official that this state finals will be his last on the mic. Crazy to think an announcer has made such an impact on this sport, but he has literally become the voice of the sport. Thanks Kevin for being the voice of Indiana wrestling for 40+ years!

I was curious and wanted to look into how many state qualifiers came from all of the classes that competed in IHSWCA team state. Pretty cool to look at. Just over 50% of the state qualifiers come from a team that competed at IHSWCA team state.   My thoughts: 4A is STACKED, 3A had a rough year with qualifiers, 2A IMO had a great year for qualifiers, 1A had a great year as well!

In EC they had better sound systems in da parking lot. Deem low riders were bouncing. 

Merrillville: Turkey Bar = grabbing your turkey guts when it counts, good job coach.
 
Crown Point:  hey some parents just met each other last year..lol.. sucks they will never be a real community

Hobart: loudest, most obnoxious crowd at EC. 
 
EC: can we get a PA that works??? We can’t hear poop. 
 
Officials: can’t take back 2 takedown after calling near-fall in sudden death OT.

What do you mean didn't age well? we won our first 6 matches had 6 in the ticket round for the first time in 20 years? I'll take it. 2 to State and a Champion? I'll take it.  4th in the Semi-State when we are a Public School in the city.  I'll take it.  2 returning ticket rounders and 2 returning quali's?; I'll take it. Quite possibly securing our first invitation ever to Team State?  I'll take it.

Must be some weird Valpo/Purdue math. There are six different combinations of quarter brackets, but overall there are 12 different FULL bracket combinations.
 
They top half of the bracket has 6 different combinations that are possible. However, within each format in the top bracket the bottom has two different options as you can flip the 2 vs. 3 matches. For those that are possibly Valpo graduates 6 x 2 is 12.
