I think you're mistaking us questioning the 2 first place votes with hate.  No doubt Bane is a fine young man, but there are many other fine young men that also had more successful wrestling careers.  Besides, you'd have to have been living in a cave for the last 15 years to not be aware of breast cancer at this point, haha.

Ummmm no one here mentioning Devon Jackson from Yorktown? This is the kid who unfortunately ran into Jason Tsirtsis and Ethan Raley in the finals two years in a row. I do remember it being quite awesome when Devon took Tsirtsis to overtime in the finals that year! If it weren't for Nick Lee (easy #1 here), Jackson would easily be my pick as best 1xer. My cousin Garrett Pepple would get thrown into the convo as well

No disrespect to any of the other guys, but Parris is my choice.  He moves unreasonably quickly for a 220lb wrestler; he wrestlers like a 145er.  
 
He had, what, 4 takedowns in the first minute against Maddox?  I don't know what he weighs in at, but he could have gone up or down a weight class and won the title, in my opinion.

Please, show me where I attacked a HS kid or his coach...I don't even know who his coach is?  If you think making a simple observation is an act of trolling, you might want to stay off the internet lest you encounter actual trolling.

Andrew Davison. He's a senior who capped off his career with a 42-0 season and state championship. He pinned his way through the tournament (with an injury default in the semis). He's had a pretty high level of competition over the course of this year. He has an impressive national resumé as a Fargo champion and double All-American. His character and class is tremendous along with his grades as I believe he also made Senior Academic All-State. He'd be one I would vote for.

Torn...I'm a Delaware county native, and Daleville was my "next door neighbor", so I'm pulling for Maddox in that regard.  On the other hand, Parris is a special kid and I'd like to see him become a 3x champ.
 
I just don't see how Maddox wins.  I'm afraid of Parris, and I'm in the comfort of my own living room, haha!

According to the latest numbers from House Speaker, Sean Spicer, this year's total attendance has already been recorded as the largest in the history of the state finals.

Parris vs. Larson, Parris vs. Maddox; Laughlin vs. Mappes, Laughlin vs. Bane (assuming they both get through to finals)...I'd like to see Brad avenge former teammate McCormick's loss to Bane in the first round two years ago.

Dru would have been much better off, as far as wrestling, had he stayed at Yorktown.  Better coaching and more talent in wrestling room would have greatly benefited him in honing his talent...steel sharpens steel after all.
 
That said, being happy in your environment is more important than wrestling, in my opinion.  He must not have been as happy at Yorktown as Frankton.

I will say it...Mater Dei pretty much was exposed today.    Put them in individual match ups against the current level of competition i just  the Southern half of the state, an for the second year in a row we see they are not what they used to be.
 
Hats off to Brownsburg,Avon, and Columbus East...Great showings from these teams.  Great individual efforts through out the day also...
 
And yes, the Castle Regional pretty much stunk up the place today.

Anyone who doesn't put Parris and Joe Lee at 1/2 is a fool or a homer.  Neither of these two are getting beaten this year.  Parris ran a clinic on his weight's #2 ranked guy in the finals last year....as a sophomore.

Is Mater Dei good at anything else?  They're a parochial school.  It's like being impressed with Cathedral...well, duh, they can recruit.

Sweet Jesus...I've been on here with a bunch of parents talking about their kids?  Vicarious living, huh...
 
I'm just a fan of the sport who wrestled in HS, myself....I root for my old HS and it's athletes, but I'm certainly not emotionally vested.

Obviously I'm too young to know the all-time greats but I will say I saw something special in Parris his Friday night against Kleimola as a freshman. I instantly thought he'd have a shot at being one of the best in indiana history and headed toward a resume of a 1-loss(by a point to an undefeated senior state champ), 3xer I'd say he would be one of the all-time Indiana greats--and not just of the big men.

A mom coming on this thread and trying to tout her kid as one of the most dominant big men ever in such a passive aggressive way. Seriously, this is coming from someone with plenty of his own detractors here. And then the most awesome display of gross misconduct by trying to play the victim is your response when called out. I'll put it in easy to understand terms for you: Parris and Gelen top 1% of wrestlers period. There's absolutely no shame in being a top 10% wrestler. I don't see Ellis mom and or dad on here lobbying for Evan do you? See the difference? That's why you are taken to task, it has nothing to do with Gunnar. Your behavior here today is what causes targets to be placed on backs of teams and wrestlers.
