@casualwrestlingfan It appears that you are basing your opinion of the way that Ohio looks at Indiana on message boards. Which I get… you love dem message boards!!! Get off that border and get to dem tournaments. Leave that Yappi alone!!!  Dem fools are fools.

With that said, @ontherise219 has had actual conversations with actual people in the know. He clearly has been told that the people who matter do respect and are in fact impressed with our top level guys and programs.

Also.. my son wrestles in college in Ohio. My car logs thousands of miles to Ohio every year. All of his teammates know of our top programs and how tough our top guys are. One of his teammates was the middle school ranker for Rokfin. He would send me text weekly asking about our top middle school guys.

I have been to Brecksville many years and have seen all of the Indiana champs win it in person. Everytime I have went, I have had national rankers and college coaches ask about Indiana guys. I have sat there a heard the table workers have conversations about how they are impressed with the Indiana boys (paid table workers not kids).

There is not a month that goes by that I don’t have a D1 coach from Ohio text me to ask about Indiana guys. I stay in contact with a D1 coach who’s dad happens to run the St.Ed’s program. I can say without a doubt that they are impressed by our top guys and respect us. Just was we are impressed and respect them.

As far as St Ed’s and Graham guys. Our top guys have been wrestling those guys since they were little kids. I’ve been in Cleveland when @tigrreapr56 put together a yourh team and beat StEds in their own house. I’ve been to tournament of Champions when Indiana kids have won it. I’ve been to Toledo when the Indiana kids were battling for a national middle school title. I’ve been to Medina and watched our kids battle at their holiday tournament. I’ve been to Mason Ohio and watched our best elementary kids wrestle ohios best. I’ve been to Heartland and Kingsport and watched our youth take it to Ohio. Like @ontherise219 I was at carnahan. Was at Ironman too. We impressed there.

My oldest son even wrestled for Ohio mafia in middle and high school. They could have taken Ohio kids but put my son and @TeamGarcias sons on the team, because they were impressed.

Bottom line.. you can have the opinion that the fine folks of Ohio are not impressed with our guys. But.. I have about 20 years of actual experience of going over their and being told that they are impressed (from people who actually matter) with our wrestling in Indiana.

Now… with all of that said! We do not have the depth that Ohio does. But.. that all comes down to population. As a 1a guy @casualwrestlingfan I’m sure that you can relate. Ohio goes much deeper then us. They just have more wrestlers and a deeper pool. But.. our top guys and programs are right up their with theirs.

i think you opinion in this matter is wrong. Just like you think @TeamGarcia is wrong. With all of this said.. this is all in fun (I hope). Great conversation men.

Obviously… like most people on here you don’t know how hard it is to place or even win a match at the Ironman . I get it, it’s a brand new tournament to go to for Indiana Teams & Wrestlers.

For the record, and hear me out on this . This tournament is an INVITE only tournament. It’s the premier HS in season tournament to go to . Everyone knows this if you follow the sport .

Am I the only one in Indiana that gets this ? Maybe one day Indiana will open its eyes to this and sees what I’m saying .

Then we talk about IHPO, yes it’s a great tournament for this region of wrestling it helps with the rankings for Indiana but it don’t scratch the surface of the Ironman prestigious and what it brings . PERIOD !

I’ll stop and leave everyone with this :

IHPO was before season IHSAA Wrestling open its Boarders to see where your wrestlers at . Top 4 get to go to Super 32 . How we do there, We seen the results for the preseason/Season rankings are posted to and up to that point .

Then …. We come to  IHSAA blessed us with The Premier National Tournament & we get to go it . The prestigious Ironman is the now the present for IHSAA Wrestling during High school season has already started . This is where Indiana Rankings should change . Indiana wrestlers did great with Multiple placers .

How about we reward those Indiana Wrestlers with the credit they deserve while representing their schools and Indiana Wrestling with the recognition they deserve ?
Place or Win Ironman they deserve #1 .

    Done !

Respect to CP and BB for taking on the most brutal schedule for an Indiana team, EVER. None of their state champs this year will be undefeated. This is what Indiana needs to take its wrestling to the next level.

Crown Point and Brownsburg kids went and competed. All came away with at least one loss, most two, some three... They weren't afraid to go compete against the best in the country. Now, for the next two months +, there will be multiple "someone(s)" on the board talking about so and so who is undefeated vs. a red or purple bulldog with a loss or two incurred at this event... biting my tongue now...

Blair Academy, Wyoming Seminary, Bethlehem Catholic,  Stillwater, St. Ed's, Bishop McCort, Walsh Jesuit, St. Paris Graham, Malvern Prep, etc., etc. This tournament had THE BIG NAMES in prep/hs wrestling there... There were D1 college coaches in abundance. Great to see Indiana participate and have some placers but will be something else at another level to have a champion... Interested to see Joe's take on it during this week's shows...

Thanks Joe for this article! I'd been involved with the Brownsburg Wrestling Club since my son was a preschooler and he's now in his senior year. Coach Snyder coming to Brownsburg has been instrumental to keeping the talent at home (Mulkey/Lee). He's a big reason why Lee, Mulkey, Miller, Ison and Jones have stayed through HS in the community they started school in...

If you’ve been an unfamiliar passerby in the town of Brownsburg, Ind. over the past seven years, one of the first things that might catch your eye are the purple street signs – deep purple markers adorned with a bulldog, two on each corner if you’re lucky.

At least, that’s what I noticed as I drove through the small – but not too small – suburb of Indianapolis en route to the fourth official practice of the 2022-23 IHSAA wrestling season, with no prior knowledge other than what was scribbled on the notepad next to me.

One thing I hadn’t taken note of prior to passing the “Welcome to Brownsburg” sign on Highway 139, and something that might give any other small-town Midwesterner the same familiar wave of recognition: The residents of this town about 30 minutes northwest of downtown Indy live and breathe Brownsburg High School athletics.

The 2021-22 Brownsburg wrestling team was nothing to snub at. The Bulldogs went 18-1 in duals and extended their program-record streak to eight consecutive Hoosier Crossroads Conference championships. Jake Hockaday led the lineup with the first state title by a freshman in school history, continuing Brownsburg’s reign of crowning one champion each year since 2016. More on him later – I promise.

There will be multiple Brownsburg wrestlers crash into the rankings quickly this year that were not ranked last year. With wrestlers like Revin Dickman, Mason Day, Tommy Gibbs, Parker Reynolds, Landen Haines, and Lucas Day who were either behind a State champ or placer in the lineup last year or coming in as Freshman this year. Brownsburg is reloading!

The Committee approved modified restrictions on Indiana schools competing against schools from beyond the 300-mile travel limit. IHSAA schools will now be able to participate against out-of-state schools from beyond the 300-mile limit as long as they are in good standing with their state association, the venue is within the 300 mile limit, is and is sanctioned by the NFHS and IHSAA. Also, Indiana schools may now host out-of-state schools in Indiana from beyond the 300-mile limit as long as they are a member in good standing with their own state association and the event is sanctioned by the NFHS and IHSAA.
